In this video, I'm going to be talking about the mysterious process of the "mash out" when it comes to making beer. But what is a mash out, you ask? Well, it's a step in the brewing process where we increase the temperature of the mash (a mixture of crushed grains and hot water) in order to halt the enzymatic process and fix the sweetness of the wort (the liquid extracted from the mash). So why...

For me personally I like just a little more carbonation than not, I like the higher abv stuff, I have had issues with those specific flip top bottles holding carbonation, it may be worth doing it again with the crown caps which I use now, I like the bottling conditioning yeast as well, good stuff

No sir, no need, plus you risk exposing the beer to oxygen, just put it in and cap it, the yeast will find it! Cheer

I have a mead/cider fermenting with hops, I’m probably gonna pull it at 10 days cause i did a stupid and didnt read up on it. I added on the initial set up and atp i dont wanna pull it too fast and get too little ABV, but at the same time i dont want super bitter, grassy cran-apple cider. The cranberry juice i had on hand was diet, so i added the honey to compensate. Bubbling took off, but now im worried after doing some research. Could i add it back to the semijohm and keep going after i filter the hops out, or will there be too little yeast in solution to keep fermenting? I did a big derp, and now im paying for it. Much love, great video, happy brewing! I appreciate you for reading!

just made my first batch with about 2 gallons total. It was 1 oz of hops total. With 3 grams of citric acid. I added like .4 grams to hot water to get a little bitterness then added 1 gallon of cool water and then added the rest of the hops for about 20 minutes then strained in a coffee filter then carded and a little sprinkle of salt and gypsum and kegged it at 20psi for a few days and its nice! I think I will just dry hop (cool water) for longer with maybe 5 grams of hops instead of 23 grams and maybe steep it for like 5 hours. I think it is bitter and nice but I also will try to add some stevia I think.

Sounds like a descent, slightly hoppy recipe. I usually would brew German hefes. I guess when I've brewed this style it's for an event. I keep the ibus low and don't add flavoring hops. I call them crowd pleasers, because most people really don't like hops. For a twist, I used to brew a very popular coffee wheat. But it's very difficult to find a coffee that will compliment the wheat beer.

Excellent presentation. For the hisroery minded Pilsener is named for Pilsen. For the history minded Pilsener gets its name from Pilsen ( AKA Plzen , now in the Czech Republic) where the style originated "Plzeň is an important city in the history of beer, including the development of Pilsner.[18] In 1375, Bohemian King Charles IV endowed the Dobrow Monastery near Plzeň with the beer right, and it is one of the oldest breweries to survive to modern times.[19][20] Many breweries were located in the interconnected deep cellars of the city..." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plze%C5%88
