Honestly I don't think you know how to use it? 😂 It's called a frequent spectrum not called a Eq spectrum! And your mix is horrible! And if you knew how to use one? You would have noticed your 300 to 500 frequencies are way too high! Noticed it sounds like you're in a box! Piece of advice? Learn how to use one before you make a video! Because all you did is go through the features obviously not knowing what it does!😂

Lack of instrument plugins is one I'd agree with. As far as midi editor, I have ONE thing it seems to lack for me but it's not what was mentioned in this video (because I don't mind how it works for the most part): In Ableton Live and probably other DAWs, once you pick a key, you can press the "Fold" button and it will hide all the notes that are not in the key. There's no way to do this without some kind of weird workaround. The only option is to hide notes not in use but that doesn't just hide notes not in the key, it hides any note that you haven't added a midi note to. The snap to key feature works regardless but it would be nice to also visually get those notes out of the way. Edit: Let me add one more gripe of mine that's maybe not as big of a deal but also could be easily fixed but hasn't been: The Media Window. It can't be resized smaller than a certain point which on a laptop tends to be like 1/3 of the whole screen. Other windows such as the FX browser don't have this problem so I know it's not just a window thing in general. For my main workstation with a 27" 1440p monitor it's fine because the combination of screen size and resolution means that the media browser is fairly tiny percentage wise. But on my laptop where I NEED the extra screen real estate and need to be able to drag and drop lots of files, it's a real pain to barely have any real estate left for the actual tracks. There's no reason this couldn't be fixed.

Pretty nice vocals, just a small criticism, I would of reduced the breaths about 1-2 db and also find that the "C" when the vocalist is saying the word (call) I find the consonant sound is kind of harsh for my taste. I would use fade in when the consonant comes out that strong. But, that is my taste. Overall its a great song.

Good point of the mastering after you finish your mixing lol i definitely struggle with not wanting to keep making tiny changes lol

Jack, I have just gotten a new computer (a powerful HP Pavilion laptop). My interface is a little Phenyx Pro (it shows as “USB Audio Codec” I am using ASIO 2.16). Here’s the problem: I was trying to open a new project in Reaper: 1. I opened Track 2 and plugged in my guitar to my interface. 2. I armed Track 2 to record Track 2 will not record my guitar. The recording function IS working but there is no input. Track 2 reads "Not Connected". I take this to mean that the Reaper software is not reading the input from the guitar. My interface appears on the output list but not in the input list. The interface is not on my device list. Any suggestions? TomL

I think not coming with loads of extras (vst and sounds etc) is kind of an advantage - you can concentrate on just getting hold of ones that you are actually going to use and build your collection as you go. Good video - I'm off to find the one about the good points now...

For those using windows 10 and 11, on reaper. Go to options > preference > audio > device > audio system > choose WASAPI. Then make sure on input device choose your audio interface, then output device choose your pc speaker. Thank me later, you're all welcome!

wouldn't you put the JS: Loudness Meter Peak at the end to measure LUFs and the like? i always do. very helpful.

Reaper may not be the most good looking DAW. But that the price for having a lightweight DAW at an incredible price. About virtual instruments it’s true. But every producer as it’s toolbox (Kontact, orchestras, etc) including a drum kit (Adicitive,Ez,SSD5) and so on. About the support i disagree absolutely. Look at Keny Gioya Reapermania, Reaperblog and the incredible Forums. And now with version 7 some minor glitches are corrected.

Im working with Reaper and the focusrite solo interface and I have input latency. And on top of that, I have to place all the tracks I recorded because they are not at the good place. ( I record back vocals when listening to a music track). Do I download ASIO even if I have focusrite? It wont interfer?? Thanks a lot

All my PC outputs are fine ( I am listening to your sound), all of the Reaper settings are assigned as per your video. My microphone shows input in Windows sound settings, but nothing in Reaper. My Korg Liano DOES show input in Reaper, and will record. I just cannot get any sound on playback, it's really frustrating. I installed Audacity, everything worked straight away!. Thanks for your tips, but I still can't solve my issue. I paid for Reaper too before trying it out properly, so I would really like to get it working. I've even tried configuring all of the other Output options, like WASUPI, Direstsound, and Waveout.

let me tell you, I just tried Cubase for the first time and was immediately hit with the inability to track vocals through plugins without extreme latency. Could not find a tutorial to solve the problem or any threads online. None of my ASIO Drivers fixed anything nor even running the lowest buffer setting. Not an issue in Reaper. Just works.
