The Hell Stone Dolmen and Other Ancient Relics in Dorset
On a summer's day in the southern English county of Dorset, I embark on an adventure to some rural locations holding relics from our ancient past. The magic and mysticism of our land was really in the air throughout the day, making this a very joyful experience.

I've ventured to the Hell Stone Dolmen on a very wet and windy day. Wasn't my best idea 😄 I didn't make it to the other stone circles nearby, but do hope to return someday. Great video! Good to see like-minded folk out and about 😊

À magical route. I did a similar route as you with my wife before she passed a few years back. We parked at the Hardy Monument, and did the same route but came back via the Valley of the Stones. Last year the kids and I did the same route as a kinda of pilgrimage to her. It's magical. We also went down into Abbotsbury and visited St Catherine's Tower, which is the building you saw in the distance. The other two stones circles would be Rempstone near Corfe and Nine Stones down in Winterborne Abbas. Make sure to visit Nine Barrow Down on the ridge above Rempstone too.

Great to see these sites again. Until recently I lived in Dorset and used to walk this exact route to visit these ancient sites. There's a real energy out there like you say, particularly at Grey Mare. I never saw anybody else either! Later on i met the landowners for Grey Mare and they have some ancient waymarkers on their land too, i forget where exactly unfortunately. Another one off the beaten path is the Harpstone near Corfe. It's pretty hidden in a field boundary and sometimes overgrown but a nice menhir all the same. Oh and that building you saw in the distance looks like St Catherine's Chapel. Great video!

Great stuff! For years I've hiked the Cotswolds. It is a gift that keeps giving. From improving physical/mental health to an (ongoing) understanding of nature & then the (also ongoing) understanding of who has gone there before. A city dweller once asked what I enjoyed doing the most. When I told him about my love of the outdoors he replied 'so you've given up on life?'. He was a good man & I can understand his perspective but he was so wrong. Am already a subscriber to the Woodlander & now have also joined you. Thanks.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear, yet another video about Alfred, Chippenham and Ethandun based on the lies of academia. Everything you talked about is true.........but unfortunately all of those events actually happened in the East of England, not the West. There is no evidence at all that the story happened in the locations you visited. There is a heap of evidence that it happened in East Anglia - the true story will be revealed in the first episode of my TH-cam series "Ian's Mystery Histories", look out for it!

Loved weston in the 80`s, Tropicana was amazing as a kid, pubs and nightclubs were great, there are still some lovely parks there, i pop back to see family now and again since moving away around 2000, its not much better in many places in the uk, those people who live in weston and moan need to see other towns up and down the country and then they will realise how its not so bad at all, i couldn`t afford to move back

A fine video. I like the tree analogy. The English countryside is woven together with these ancient paths. My brother’s house is located on the Hampshire-Sussex border on land formerly owned by Harold Godwinson. A herepath (army path) runs along outside his home through into Sussex. The area is threatened with destruction by housing developments.
