LoveYakken, Coffs Harbour Fishing.
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 24 มี.ค. 2013
My dad taught me to fish as a young kid, haven't stopped since.
I owned a boat for 8 years then bought my first kayak and fell in love with the simplicity of it and found I enjoyed the yak more than the boat, which I sold after not using it for a few years.
Really enjoy getting out into new spots and learning how to target different species I haven't targeted before ( Bass, Jew, Jacks) but still get a buzz fishing the creeks for the humble flathead on plastics and live bait.
Cheers.

MONSTER FLATHEAD! EPIC BATTLE ON LIGHT TACKLE!!
Flathead fishing: Hooked a BIG flathead on light tackle, lucky to land this one, nearly straightened the hook.
A picture perfect winters day on the water, no wind, hungry fish and full moon big tides. A big thanks to Will from Down South Tackle for giving me some of his hand made soft plastics to try out. They don't have a website up yet, but you can DM him on Instagram @Down_South_Tackle.

WINTER BEACH FISHING: WHITING FISHING BACK TO BASICS!!
มุมมอง 1.5K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
Beach fishing for winter whiting, the easiest way to catch these tasty little fish is definitely using fresh live yabbies. Sometimes getting right back to basic fishing using fresh bait, like you did as a kid, can be an enjoyable and rewarding change from flicking lures. I was lucky enough to score a perfect winters afternoon just before the wind and rain kicked in on the Coffs Harbour Coast. N...
COFFS HARBOUR WINTER FLATHEAD FISHING!!

Fishing for winter flathead in the shallows using the Zman slim swimz on the Mid North Coast NSW. Winter can be a great time to target dusky flathead from a kayak on the flats. This time of year, on the Mid North Coast, we get lots of no wind days which is perfect for drifting with the tide over the flats throwing soft plastics like the Zman slim swimz.
TAILOR FISHING: HEADLAND SURF FISHING ADVENTURE!!!!
มุมมอง 806หลายเดือนก่อน
Fishing with hard body lures off an NSW coastal headland chasing tailor (bluefish). The plan was to catch a couple of small just legal sized tailor to use as live bait off the beach at night for some mulloway/jew. As usual things didn't go to plan, no small tailor caught, instead a nice green back tailor which the light whiting/bream surf rod struggled to handle. Thanks for watching, subscribin...

Fishing at Red Rock on the Mid North Coast N.S.W using soft plastics. Winter is upon us once again and as much as I hate the cold mornings, we usually get some awesome no wind days which is perfect for exploring on the kayak. Slow start early morning on the last of the run-out tide but things picked up on the run in with plenty of flathead, bream, whiting and mullet around. No monster sized fis...
ADDICTIVE BASS FISHING WITH FROGS.

Does it get any better than seeing a Bass smash a lure off the surface? Today I fish a small coastal creek only 3kms from the surf beach using the Zman finesse frogs during the last week of bass season. The water was chocolate milkshake brown after 2 days of heavy rain flooding into this tiny system. It's amazing this creek holds a healthy bass population, only having a couple of kms of fresh w...

SECRET OF WHEN TO USE THE SPLASH PRAWN?? Mangrove Jack Fishing.
มุมมอง 1.2K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
A new moon means the prawns are on the move and the Jacks love a tasty prawn. Using a surface popper like the MMD Splash Prawn has to be the most exciting way to target mangrove jacks, but not always the most affective. You just never can get enough of seeing a mangrove jack hit the surface with such speed and precision, gets the heart pumping every time. The new moon week, when the prawns are ...

Bass Fishing in spectacular mountain scenery and clean clear waters. Today I head up into the mountains to chase wild Australian bass. It's good for the soul to get out into areas like this. Catching wild Australian native fish in their untouched natural environment is such a buzz, I need to get out fishing for bass more often........think I say that every season, lol.

Late afternoon session spinning for tailor off the rocks around the Coffs Harbour area. I was using the 40g Halco Twisty. I probably lost more tailor than I landed, maybe I need to change the treble hooks to singles?? I'm interested to know how you guys have found using single hooks on your metal slugs. Do you find the hook up rate is as good? And do you find they can't shake the singles as eas...

Mangrove Jack Fishing the Coffs Coast NSW. How epic has the Mangrove Jack fishing been so far this season!!!! MANGROVE JACK LOVE THIS LURE!!!!!!!
มุมมอง 1.7K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
If you want to chase Jacks give this plastic a crack. Still a lot of fresh water flowing from the recent rains has made fishing for mangrove jacks upstream a bit tough with the jacks either hiding in deeper pockets or have moved more downstream near the creek entrances. Only one descent jack hooked today, but any day not working and out on the water with scenery like this is just magic. Thanks ...

Great fish, but especially on that finesse gear.
Well played, loved the commentary, ,
Cheers Steven,
Cracking video , lived that one with you and what a great fish !! Well done😎🎣
Thanks Nick, yeah it definitely got my heart pumping.
Awesome croc!
They are a cool looking fish at that size, thanks for watching mate
Wow!!!
@@justinlambert4937 yeah, got a bit of a shock when I first saw it, had to edit out the words I said lol
@@LoveYakkenhaha, I bet!
What a ball biter. I'd buy a lotto ticket mate. Well done.
Sometimes you just get lucky🤞🤞🤞👍👍👍
So stoked for you, really enjoyed that one
Thanks mate, was a good day, cheers
Hey mate where abouts is this? Up in coffs harbour for a bit before heading up to gold coast looking for a good place to chuck in a couple rods
It's just south of Coffs, all the rivers/creeks around here have plenty of flathead in them, just have to be lucky to be in the right spot right time. Good luck 👍
Beautiful croc you handled it really well and was patient (I could never), really deserved well done.
Thanks mate, its hard to stay patient sometimes but have learnt the hard way a few times losing bigger fish rushing it on light gear desperate to land them.
I was waiting for this video since you first posted it. Pretty sure I know where it is but as always. Gonna keep it a secret
Cheers Austin, hope you've been hooking into a few.
awesome fish mate, congratulations. also great to see home grown Aussie lures working so well. could feel tension in your voice all the way to the end. how majestic when they swim away after such a long fight.
Thanks Michael, you are right about "majestic" watching them swim off strong. I was really cautious to get her back in the water as quick as I could. I couldn't get a good camera angle without the sun behind me when holding her up but thought getting her back in the water fast was more important than a good pic. Thanks for watching.
now that was well worth enduring the 4C temp bro thats what you call a real croc bro congrats on the fish & yet another awesome vid.
Cheers mate, yeah it was a chilly morning to be in shorts and have wet feet lol.
Been waiting for this for ages 🎉
Thanks for hanging in there, sorry for the wait. I have been a bit slack filming lately, been leaving the cam at home and just enjoying fishing without having to think about keeping lens clean, changing battery's etc. just enjoying the day fishing.
@@LoveYakken Awesome video, hahaha we know how you feel we do it all the time too. We always appreciate when you upload legend 👍
Is this coffs creek?
@@Jonahroundsfish No not Coffs creek, didn't fish in there last season,
I was the one texting on Insta. Great fish man. Can’t wait for the vid tomorrow. And by chance my best friend Finn Lynch said he knows you, any chance you know him too
@@Austin.harper hi Austin, thanks for your support, have probably met Finn at some stage out fishing. Vids out on Saturday not tomorrow, still editing it tonight
@@LoveYakken Ye sorry. Thought today was Friday. Do you mind me asking what you caught it on

@@LoveYakken That’s right. So excited for the vid on Saturday. Have you been tailor fishing at the rocks recently for tailor. Would love to see another one of those vids again. Maybe at Mo**ee
@@Austin.harper Might have a tailor spin soon, see what the weather and swell does next time I'm heading out
Awesome fish 🔥
@@beyondbushfishing cheers, sometimes I get lucky🤞🤞
What headland are you fishing at in Coffs
hey mate, we used to catch heaps of dart years ago at nambucca, but they seam to have disappeared from there. kused to love catching them as they fight like crazy!!
Yeah they fight hard alright, strange you don't catch them there anymore, still heaps around here in the beach gutters.
what size is the rod your using
Hey mate, the rods a Penn Allegiance 3, 12 foot, 8-12kg medium heavy spin. I was worried it might be a bit too stiff to flick metal slugs but can throw a 40g slug no probs. Great strongly built rod, last a lifetime, like most penn gear
Hey mate bout to go on holiday around urunga keen as ! Can’t wait to hook a few Do you get any jewies at the beaches or rock black fish around the ledges ??? Love the videos
Can't help you with the rock black fish but been getting a lot of jewies off the beach just before the weather went ugly. no monster jew but plenty round the 60 to 70cms mark. Any deep gutter along the beaches are worth a try, some nights there's none then the next night you get a few, but that jew fishing. Good luck.
@@LoveYakken thanks bro !!! Looks like you get some nice green backs out that way aswell !
@@LoveYakken hope the weather clears up this week !
Can usually find a few tailor round the headlands, the odd bigger greenback if you're lucky.
@@uhhbam on the Urunga river. If you stand on the car bridge across from the train bridge, you can sometimes see lots of Jewies smashing all the hering and mullet. Around 9:00 till 11:00 at night is the perfect time to go. Or if you have a tinny go the that bridge near all the pilons
Those Shimano Sedona reels may be on the cheaper side, but damn they are brilliant bits of kit.
100% agreed, its had a tough life, always getting wet on the kayak and surf etc. but it just keeps charging on. Drag is surprisingly good for a cheap reel, it has stood up better than expensive reels I have owned.
Hi Loveyakken, it’s me the local. Was wondering if you went fishing at corindi or you prefer not to say. Also I am not able to find any yabbies in Coffs or moonee, so was wondering if you got them at woolgoolga. Thanks Austin
Hi Austin, you will be able to pump yabbies at moonee, heaps of them on the sand flats there, low tide straight in front of the park across from tennis courts. I was fishing up at mullaway/mullawarra area but heaps of whiting off moonee, probably better than where I was.
@@LoveYakkenThank you sooooo much. I will try when I get back from holiday in Byron. All this rain is hard to fish in, but for a video idea. The Jewfish are really good when it’s raining under some big pylons off a bridge
Nice spot mate
Yeah we are a bit spoilt with awesome beaches around here, shame the wind and rain atm won't let us get out and enjoy them.
@@LoveYakken true that mate
Looks like woolgoolga creek
Na, couldn't be, no fish in Woopi creek.😉 Thanks for watching Steve.
Thanks for all your videos mate. Being a newbie to fishing and living near Coffs I have really found your videos helpful......Question is my 10yo young bloke is really keen to catch tuna lol I figure we might just start with some rock fishing but was hoping you could point me in the right direction for some safe rock areas around Coffs to get started? Thanks heaps
Hey mate, chasing tuna off the rocks is something I haven't really done, but I know they target them from the end of mutton bird island. It's not exactly a safe spot though. I have caught a few off north wall when spinning for tailor but were only small fish. Cheers mate.
@@LoveYakken yeah good stuff he was talking about mutton bird I wasn't keen so North wall is a good compromise. Thanks heaps hopefully run into you out there at some stage out and say hi 👍
@@Razorfishing Good luck, hope you find a few.
Good fishing to you too👍
I wish that the fishing was like that in Cairns, the water here is bright green from fertiliser run off.
Sad to hear that, nothing worse than pollution in our waterways.
Gotta be happy with the results and an peaceful day on the water, thanks for sharing !
Thanks mate, yeah couldn't ask for a more peaceful day, perfect condition and a few fish, a perfect morning.
👌 cuppa nice ones there mate
Plenty of little ones but the odd bigger girl in there, cheers mate
Couldn’t fit in the net is one of the best problems to have
Lol, yeah I suppose I shouldn't complain.
I'm pretty sure i know that big Lizzie! glad to see she's still hunting!
🤙🤙
Thanks for viewing mate
nice greenback bro, know that spot well only under our current swell is it worth the risk there ...but there are some monster mulloway at that ledge...have been thinking about giving it a run for some longtail if your ever keen to join. another gr8 vid showcasing our backyard :)
Cheers mate, yeah its a sketchy spot to fish, low tide and no swell is the only time I will fish it. Im keen for the longtail once they start showing up in numbers.
Good stuff, great fish
Thanks mate,
@@LoveYakkenit’s me again. Pretty sure I know where this is but definitely keep it a secret if your catching that big of a tailor. Do you think a spinner will still be good as the water is getting colder. Or change because the tailor like warmer water.
Spinners will work fine right through winter for tailor, it's what I mainly use, I don't use hard bodys much in the surf but might now after this session. Cheers.
I appreciate the effort you put into these videos. Well done. Good fish.
@@anthonykhalil70 Thanks Anthony, yes there is a bit that goes into it, but I enjoy the filming, editing and playing with the drone as much as the fishing. Cheers for your comment.
Awesome mate, how good is the bomber, been around for ever hey
It was one of the first ever hard body lures I owned as a young fella, cheap simple and works on so many species.
Hey mate great video just wondering what some good colour slim swims would be cheers
The 2 colours I have the most luck on are motor oil and pearl. Good luck.
@@LoveYakken Thanks mate
Hey mate love your vidios just wondering what pound line and leader do you use for jacks?
G'day mate, In this vid fishing in tight structure I had 50 pound braid and 50 pound leader. Is over kill for these smaller jacks but needed if you hook a big red dog around the fallen trees to get them out of the structure. I still lose a few with 50 pound. If fishing more open waters I use 30 pound.
Ok cool thanks for replying
2023 is your year, trust me
Cracking session, that whiting would of been dinner if I caught him! What rod and reel set up are you running?
Rod is a Daiwa Gen Black Wild Weasel 2-6kg, reel is a Shimano Sedona 2500, 10-pound braid, 8-pound leader. Yeah I should have kept the whiting, they are tasty little suckers.
Love the TD black rods I've got the wicked weasel and a 1.5-4kg 6'4 pinster that for yak fishing good value if you can find them discounted.
Waiting so long for a vid. So much rain!!! Love your videos and hope to see you out there.
Sorry for the wait, hopefully we will be getting lots of winter no wind day, blue sky's after this lot of rain. Thanks for hanging in there waiting for a new vid, come say G'day if you see me out fishing.
@@LoveYakken definitely. I will be kayaking in moonee creek at 10:00 if you want to meet. I would be amazing to see you in real life.
@@Austin.harper Cheers mate but I work Sundays till 3pm, and trust me Im not too amazing in real life 🤣 Good luck, hope the rain clears enough and you hook into a few.
Nice session mate , beautiful day for it .... thanks for sharing 👍
Cheers mate, no big flathead caught but an enjoyable day on the water. Thanks for watching.
Th e weather has taken a 360 today😂
Has it ever, glad I managed to sneak a day in while the sun was out, looks wet again tomorrow as well🙄
When’s the next post coming out?
Doing some editing now, this short is a cut from it.👍👍 Haven't done much fishing the last few weeks, weathers been wet or windy every day I have had off.😥
Same. I I’m Coffs too. Not much good fish around. But hopefully the snapper and tuna are ready to be caught.
@@Austin.harper Good luck. I should be uploading a new vid this weekend.
Why the hell do bass fishers measure to the fork.. just measure the whole fish like you do for every other species, and as you legally measure all finfish. Jeez it's so stupid it really grinds my gears 😂😂
😂😂 lol, yeah seems to be common practise with bass, not sure of the reason??? I use to measure to tail tip and get told "take 2cms off mate, your cheating by not measuring to the fork", lol.🙄
@@LoveYakken it's because that how the flogs that fish in tournaments measure them. Ignore those wanks and just measure the whole fish mate, makes no bloody sense to do it otherwise haha
Never caught ma Jack 🥲 tried so much whilst traveling in Aus. - maybe one day again. Subbed from here in jersey uk
Thanks for the sub👍 Jack's can be a frustrating species to target but good fun when it all comes together. Just starting to watch some of your vids.
great to see such healthy fish in our systems on the coast. can only imagine how good it is to be there when they hit the surface lure
They are Aussie battlers, most places we bass fish have 100s of kms of fresh running inland, this system would only have 1kms or so of fresh and through drought low rain periods they wouldn't have much at all.
