What id the gap ring #2?

Hi , could you tell me which detent (location) holds 5th gear in place ? Having a problem with my gearbox coming out of 5th on deceleration, holds perfect while accelerating or keeping the speed steady just slips into neutral when you lift off the accelerator. I’m thinking it’s possible to be a detent . All other gears are fine no grinds or bangs .

They are just selfish know it alls, who only wants to see the. Item they don't know about. And then, oh I knew that, Really

Thanks for this. Useful tips as I'll be tackling this tomorrow. As an aside, I've started using Marine Grease in any areas (such as suspension bushes) which will be exposed to higher levels of water (and salt) ingress. Must say that when I remove an item that I've greased with Marine grease (for a service or swap etc), I'm amazed at how good the condition of the grease is, and how rust free the part is, despite using the DCPU as my daily driver, year round and including wet autumns and alpine winters. The composition of the grease really does work very very well in these areas and I'd highly recommend.

This is very true about Land rover, from my experience of a Discovery and two Defenders, the chassis will only last about 10 years in a farming environment and then the chassis is rotting from the inside outwards. Now on my second Defender I replaced the chassis (rather than the vehicle) and have a galvanised chassis, but I still think, even though I dont off road in deep water, that the chassis needs a waxoil coating INSIDE and possibly a Lanolin annual treatment on the outside for the chassis and underside.

Ive used waxoyl for years on the underside of mowing decks on my comercial mowers. It genuinely works and copes with the debris that get thrown up and the constant damp grass residues. Once a year i pressure wash the under deck, a light wire brush and a warm with a gas torch then i brush on a coat.

Same identical gun I'm using, I'm getting ready to paint the insides of my chassis rails with corrosion inhibiting urethane, then cavity wax. I paid $50 USD from Amazon.

Actually I do not see the detent plugs are rendered useless. I removed them the same way and they still look ok. A bit of epoxy to cover the hole and that´s it.

What’s your thoughts of using ep80/90 gear oil instead of grease ?

i just fitted my pistons and torqued them down and for some reason my crank is now completely stiff and wont turn at all, any ideas as to what can cause that?

Unreal, just ruined one of my shift rod bearings trying to get this tail shaft on. Was a gentle as possible. I'm going to try this heat trick.

Ok here’s how to get this right, Get a portable AC unit with a dehumidifier. If the wx is suboptimal this will work. Seal up your garage and let it do this for an overnight. Preheat your waxoyl to 68 to 70 degrees. Once your waxoyld up let it dry for 6 to 12 hours. You can also do this in a mobile paint booth which you can rent or even a car shelter provided you seal it as much as possible. I found that the spray can kits were more convenient when I did it for a friend. I’ll be doing my 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR this fall, probably on a low humidity dry day off. Hoping the hardcoat provides years of preservation to my Tacoma’s frame

On a standard clutch, what seems to happen at around 50,000miles is that one of the springs ejects out of the centre plate, this leads to a very heavy pedal, but can still operate for a while like that, have changed loads like that at that mileage
