Similar design antenna like that of yours, you are using both ends of the antenna, one to ground n earphone, n other ebd to gang caps. Does the ground end of the antenna needs to connect to the earphone too?

this is not the proper way to restore antiques. You've destroyed the patina of that antique speaker.

Hello. For tjhe more technically interested guys, is this already a superheterodyne receiver ? What is the IF ? Long time ago they used 110 Khz. Four varable tuning cap's ? Why ? Some detailed explanation using the schematic would reveil a lot to the technique, used in those days. Most kindly, from an old technician in Belgium.

Recently I acquired at an auction a glass-enclosed regen 1920s radio. It's awesome to show this radio to the younger generation to see the vintage electronics with the 4 tubes lighting up.

Isn't it true, though, that after similar "restoration" treatments in subsequent years, no faceplate will remain? How many of these treatments will the faceplate endure? You're removing original physical material from the object and changing its dimensions. Is this treatment "museum correct"? Probably not. Just my opinion.

Hello, how are the coupling coils arranged in the L2 L3 anodes, where are they located, are the main coils wound on top or are they intertwined and what is the ratio of turns they have?

Were those letters actually silk-screened, originally? I thought that technology was subsequent to 1930.

Fantastic job, may I make an observation. Video cameras dont like high contrast, black objects on a white background are extreamly hard for video cameras to resolve. Thank you for posting this, I have an old home brew receiver I think is from the 20s that I am planning to restore.

the model 90 cost $69.50 according to the 1931 brochure. Adjusted for inflation in todays money that would be $1,428.10. CRAZY! Beautiful radio my friend. I got a pristine example of a model 90 just today. I love it.

Very nice work. Congrats. Those were the days receivers had same idea. TRF, regenerative, reflex, hetodin, superheterodyne etc. But the heart beat was "ferrite coil". Inductance+band width, without IF amp and scant active electronic parts required front end coils.. Nice work..

Thanks for doing this Greene radio. Info about him is much appreciated. His son (jr) from Chelmsford had an ad years ago asking if anyone had one of his radios. I didn't contact him then and have regretted not doing so ever since. This was probably at least forty years ago. I have gotten a couple of sets since that time. There was a connection with Chelsea and a Worcester department store - Culver-Stearns and it says on the panel that it was manufactured by them. I wonder what the business arrangement was. I'd like to know what you recommend for the best gauge of the wire. Also you don't mention the crystal material. Do you have a source for the wire and crystal. This is interesting to me. I have built a crystal radio over 40 years ago and it used a commercial diode. it would be great to replace the diode with a detector I actually made. I'm a ham and 75. I'm trying to achieve 30 WPM CW. Making slow progress! WD0DUD

People still build them from time to time as a hobby thing to do. It is a good project for a weekend because you can get it done in about that much time.

Why does they made such transformers, with transformers on one magnetic circuit; made with E plates and no I ? There must be interractions between the 2 transformers, and without I plates the magnetic impedance would be higher.

You can not improved the audio because of the poor design. May be you can play with the bias of the audio oscillator to improve sound.

This data sheet shows the '00A versions to have a mu of "20" (not "1") v. "8" for '01A types. I Read somewhere else that the '00A (Cesium) characteristics were similar but more reliable than the earlier '00 Argon type (UV, UX).
