DJ & Producer
Born as a son of a music teacher in 1983, I started to take piano lessons at the age of ten and taught myself how to play guitar at the age of 15.
Until I was 16, I predominantly listened to Hip Hop & Reggae. Besides playing guitar and piano, I made my first steps into the world of djing by buying a mixer and two old turntables which I mainly used for scratching instead of trying to create smooth transitions between songs.
However, after experiencing a mind-blasting techno party in the late 90s in Dortmund, I began to focus more and more on listening to and mixing electronic dance music. I enjoyed small private techno parties as well as big techno festivals like e.g. the Love Parade, Mayday or Nature One and thus dived deep into the German electronic dance music scene.
After having graduated from university in 2010, I discovered the enormous potential of digital dj-ing and started to use my passion for deep, minimal and tech house to produce and perform my own music.

I notice when your selecting a track from the playlist the key is to the right of the track title. How do you set that my 700 just shows tge track title
hey, save some talent for the rest of us, ya jerk!
ejay 2000
Would have been nicer if it had automation
Btw if you press SYNC to just make the BPM totally even and then press it again and do the beatmatch manually it will never go off beat. Sometimes even when you got the BPM 125 on both tracks, there might be 0,06 BPM difference just to make the tracxx go off beat.
u did all of them, but all of them sound so basic, nobody would ever listen to them. thats the problem with these grooveboxes, that dont have high level sound desing
im not hating, just wish for a mashine that can do it all :D
@@mmacult5336 I think you missunderstand, every Groovebox has a limited sound design aspect. A Groovebox is just a part. But you can combine it with every synthesizer, sampler and outboard effects, when you going dawless. Than you have all the high sound experience you want. It is a question of your complete set up.
if your creative you can make any genre with any instrument !
I'm mostly interested in melodic house and #2 ain't it. Cool project otherwise though.
@@Geekraver Hey there. Thanks for your comment. Melodic house and techno are in my opinion productions in the style of the label Afterlife. I think that patterns two and three are as close as it gets when it comes to recreating that style. Anyways, glad you like the rest of the project.
You are a wonderful creator, I purchased all the projects from you. Keep creating and inspiring. thanks.
Wow! Thank you so much for your support!
Amazing video. I love the first one. Deep techno
Thanks. I’m also a huge fan of deep techno😊
Going wide after a variety of genres seems like a very cool learning exercise. Thanks for sharing! Awesome tunes as well!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
This time of year i like the spice genre, particularly of the pumpkin variety. You sir, nailed it.
Very nicely put together. This project is on my shoppimng list!
Glad you like it!
Hello Elektron and Syntakt lovers! In case you want to know how I created the different styles and/or you want to support my channel, feel free to download the project file on gumroad: wolfganggrows.gumroad.com/ Enjoy the video!
Lovely mix! Wondering how you recorded the audio from the mixer?
Thanks. I recorded it with the Tascam DR-40.
That is why I sold my Electribe - these menu labyrinths are so annoying😔
What plugin / preset was pad1 or was it External?
More!
I like the set up. The xone 23 with the 700s are an appropriate combination. Perfect size.
@@Burnt-ve8bv I totally agree!
Honestly, I don’t like this machine, I have one but I can’t let it go. Maybe that’s because it’s the 808, the 909 emulation and they sound not bad.
Nicely done, this is legit 👍
This track makes you feel like you're somewhere else
cheating arp synth. There is no arp on sytakt. Missleading wording. i do not like that.
An arpeggio synth is a synth that does not play (chord) notes simultaneously, but as a succession of quick single notes instead. That's what it is and that's why I called it an arp synth. It's basic music theory and doesn't have anything to with an alleged arp mode that is not (yet) available on the Syntakt. You can easily program an arp pattern with the step sequencer of the Syntakt by the way. Anyhow, thank you for your constructive feedback and your kind words.
This was great!
@@jjbing3 Glad you liked it 🙂
Listening to this again. It's an inspiring creation on just the one box.
This is really really good. Thank you!
@@DaveAndStuff My pleasure😊
rythm sounds like house...
@@lwpweb You‘re right. I like to blend house elements with techno. It creates a groovier feeling. If you like straight techno beats, you should check out my newer vids 😜
thanks for the download link.
Smooth set!!🙌
ANIMO CON ALEGRIAS..VERY GOOD...ENTERAROS BIEN DE LAS COSAS MUSICALES COMO VAN QUE OS LAS ESTOY EXPLICANDO..
How did you get those wooden end cheeks on? Looks cool
Hallo Wolfgang, ich habe auch beide Geräte und wollte mal wissen wie du den APC40 geroutet hast. auf den Fadern sind die Synth Parameter, richtig? hast du alles manuell angelernt? Danke !!
Thanks for a great, serious, in-depth tutorial. This is so much better for the beginner than the many rushed treatments out there. It is also interesting to hear the thinking behind your musical decisions. Looking forward to viewing your other tutorials.
@@richardsims2487 Thank you for your kind words😀
Great skills !! 👏🏻
Very helpful for me as a beginner, thanks for sharing the knowledge!
Hello, Wolfgang! Thank you for making great lessons and good music! I recently got myself a Force and I'm a newbie at this. I really want to replicate all the actions in your tutorials to gain some skills, but I can't find the samples you use. Could you please tell me where to download these samples? If it's not appropriate to ask, I apologize. Have a great day!
how do u record your set?
Hi, I’ve answered that question two times already in the comments. I used the Tascam Model DR-40X.
You recorded on rekordbox connecting the mixer with a usb? Im buying the same equipment and i im planning on doing that to record the sets, any reccommendations or advice?
No, I’m using an external recorder: Tascam DR-40.
Corn
I recently got one of these like TODAY! ha. I have no idea what I am doing yet but this video is definitely helping me a lot. Can you recommend a good budget priced MIDI controller for it? I've heard that is a good option for various reasons, the only negative one being that the small keys on the JD-XI can be prone to breaking after some hammer time ha. Thanks.
Do you have complete track build tutorial set with force and syntakt, where can i buy?
Hey there! I have free tutorials on how to build tracks on the Force. Similar tutorials will come up for the Syntakt soon. However, you can download my Force and Syntakt projects of live sets on gumroad and see how the tracks and sets are made.
Great set! Really good to see how others have their Force set up, so many different ways to use 😄 how did you set up beat repeat? Can never get that right when i try
Thanx. It's as easy as pressing shift + arp set arp to beat repeat and every time you press arp from then on, you enable the beat repeat function. Have fun!
@@wolfgang_grows ah, that's note repeat. I've been trying to get beat repeat for audio tracks working to use like a looper, but can never get the X/Y settings right. Thought that's what you were referring to 😀
Thanks, I learned a lot! One Question on production.. How do you reorder your patterns? Is there an faster way than copy and paste? Sometimes I need to switch pattern positions or shift a whole sequence of patterns (eg if I need a another pattern in between break and drop). I find the pattern arrangement the most challenging on this device. Cheers
Glad this video is helpful. I'm afraid that copying and pasting is the way I do it, too. It's a little cumbersome and needs some strategic planning, but if you've organized your patterns the right way, you can jump back and forth between them without having to rearrange them again.
My force is limited to 10 vertical rows, how do you have more?
Every Force can have up to 128 vertical rows (tracks). 8 of them can be plugins and 8 can be audio tracks. That leaves you with 112 tracks that can be key groups, drum groups or midi tracks.
👏👏🎶
Just amazing
Hi, can you please make a beat mixed techno / tribal Afro beat ?
Will do!
