This machine is rather limited at first glance, but has so many possibilities when you start digging into it. I usually jam with a lot of gear connected but you inspired me to put some time into TR-8 by itself again.

Hey Kevin, it's just a standard techno drum pattern without melodic elements, so it doesn't have a name. If I had to pick a name though, it would be "Feeling edgy/twitchy"

Glad this tutorial was helpful. I personally only use stereo outputs and mono inputs, so that I can have two synths running through the sidechain effect of the tr-8. If you want to have more control over your kick drum, it makes sense to send the kickdrum out of one mono out and the rest through the other mono out.

Honestly, I don’t like this machine, I have one but I can’t let it go. Maybe that’s because it’s the 808, the 909 emulation and they sound not bad.
