Carrot juicing recipe: Organic, homegrown rainbow carrot juice in our Omega VRT juicer!
This year I grew a lot of carrots and other juicable goodies in the garden. I wanted to make homegrown, homemade, organic juices with food straight out of our raised beds. With the 5 carrot varieties we grew, we figured out how to make a delicious and fun multicolored juice. The 5 varieties we grew this year are:
1. Uzbek Golden (Yellow)
2. St. Valery (Orange)
3. Kyoto Red (Red/orange)
4. Deep Purple (Purple)
5. Black Nebula (Indigo)
Carrots are easy to grow and are very nutrient-packed. This video will show you my carrot beds as well as us making this multi-colored, eye-popping drink with my Omega VRT juicer.
We are in zone 7b here in Albuquerque NM and we grow a large backyard garden yearly. We are always looking for new ways to incorporate more and more nutrition from our garden into our lives. Give this video a thumbs up and consider subscribing for more original and helpful garden content.

Off-trail Wilderness Hike in New Mexico

Brian came to town, and we decided to search for this small waterfall up in the Sandia Wilderness. This waterfall freezes and is used by ice climbers in winter, according to a small write-up in "Hikers and Climbers Guide to the Sandia Mountains" by Mike Hill (1977). The directions were vague, and the chances for failure were high. We would not be deterred, however, and decided to go for it.

    • @andersonsoutdoors4873
      @andersonsoutdoors4873 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you are referring to the amaranth plant. it has a tall, thick stalk, kind of like a sunflower, but instead of producing a disc shaped flower, it produces a cone shaped flower at the top that is actually covered with hundreds and hundreds of little tiny flowers. It produces seed which can be collected And stored. It is a usable food crop. One year I did grow a bunch and collected the seed and added it to my oatmeal in the morning. It is good as a hot breakfast cereal. Lately I’ve just been growing it as a nice addition to the garden.

    Hi, I just ran across your site, love it. I just moved to ABQ and want to grow a garden. The house I bought has a huge yard all covered with rock and a layer underneath for weeds. Can anyone tell me if I can just put a raised garden bed on the rock? I also have some concrete, can I put a garden bed on the concrete (concerned about drainage). Anyone? :)

    • @andersonsoutdoors4873
      @andersonsoutdoors4873 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Thanks, Mr. Baca. I appreciate it. Raised beds can be put on top of the rock and the weed barrier layer. No problem with that. When I built my raised beds, I raked the rocks out of the way and cut the weed barrier. The only reason I can think of that I would recommend that to you is for the movement of worms in and out of the bed. I would not put the raised bed on concrete as the moisture underneath will cause some issues long term with the concrete. The drainage of water from the bed will run out all over the concrete and stain it pretty bad too. Good luck with the new house and yard and welcome to Albuquerque. Let me know if there is anything else you are wondering about.

    Old School is behind a bush. You can't beat it; although, you need to be careful. Make sure the bush is not occupied. My dad was checking oil wells along side the Pecos River by Interstate 10. He heard his compadre yelling. He turned to see his friend waddling at a quick pace and yelling rattler. The oilfield hand rotated around to show pops the 2.5 ft skinny rattler clamped onto his butt cheeks. Dad killed the snake then rushed the man to the hospital 30 min away. He had no ill effects. Thanks enjoyed the video.

    • @andersonsoutdoors4873
      @andersonsoutdoors4873 ปีที่แล้ว

      The quality of this greenhouse is about what you would expect for the price. If you left it in place the entire time you have had it, I bet it's pretty degraded now. I put mine up in the spring and then disassemble it and store it for the rest of the year, so I may be able to get a few more seasons of use out of it. If one wanted to install a more permanent greenhouse, then this is probably not the choice for you, unless you are OK with buying a new one every 2-3 years.
