I wanna learn to fly fish.

It's a fun way to fish for sure. Fenton is a good place to give it a try. Especially on the dam - there is less chance of getting hung up in trees and stuff on your backcast. Give it a shot!

@@Hey_its_Koda If I were you, I would find someone that has a fly setup that they would let you use for a day or so. Go out to Tingley Beach or up to Fenton or something. If they would go with you - that would be helpful. Fly casting has some basics that you need to get some help with. Just heading out on your own will probably result in you not having much fun. If you can borrow a rod and reel and some flies you can learn the basics and see if you want to invest any $ in it. If you think it's awesome, you can get started for not TOO much $, but overall, I would say fly fishing equipment is usually more expensive. I guess you can get a fly rod and reel somewhere for under 100$ (maybe?) but it's going to be junk. You can spend 1000's getting set up. I refuse to do that. I just got a new rod for 140 and decided to splurge and get a nicer reel for 200. The line is going to run you from 40$-80$ ish. Then there is leaders, tippet, flies, fly box, and a few other odds and ends. You can get on Orvis or Reddington online and get a starter package for 170ish. That is probably your best bet. You get a rod, reel, backing, line and a case. Hard to beat that. It won't be the best rod out there, but for learning - it is going to give you way better results than if you go to wal mart and buy something for 80$. Look up "Orvis Encounter 5 wt combo" or "Reddington Path 5 wt combo". Both are about comparable in quality and price. I fish both when I go for pike in an 8 wt and I am really pleased with how both work. I even fished them in saltwater on my TX trip from a couple years ago. If you would like to talk more about it, just let me know. Shoot me a private message with your # and we can talk more if you want. There is a bit of learning to fly fishing. If you don't have anyone willing to show you, maybe we can meet up at Tingley and fish a bit and see what you think.
