  • Brian came to town, and we decided to search for this small waterfall up in the Sandia Wilderness. This waterfall freezes and is used by ice climbers in winter, according to a small write-up in "Hikers and Climbers Guide to the Sandia Mountains" by Mike Hill (1977). The directions were vague, and the chances for failure were high. We would not be deterred, however, and decided to go for it.

It was a really neat thing to see. Anytime one finds water in these desert mountains, it’s kind of magical. Even when it’s just a little.
