Skyrim is the best cozy game. What other game can you waste time just wandering the open world.

All great lists but none quite hit the bullseye for me. I had high hopes for Gate to Sovngarde but being a Vortex list makes it a nightmare to tweak to taste. Fahluaan is my favourite so far, for what's already included and user friendliness in terms of adding/removing stuff.

I'll take vanilla Skyrim anytime over latest uhm "modern" RPGs like dragon age the veilguard...Skyrim has one of the best soundtracks ever created for a game and a unmatched atmosphere.

Best mod list is subjective. Me, I'm not into modding combat or visual, but immersion and dialogue realism. I don't even mind that Uthgerd looks like that, I still recruit her.

There is a 3rd option with love triangle with you clearly missed by rushing. There is the option of romancing Camilla. In my opinion Skyrim is worth playing both without & with mods. It’s a modders paradise so what’s the problem ? I’m guessing if some players don’t like Skyrim it’s because they have been spoiled by Witcher & other games. But for me i like Skyrim worts and all as it stands given that it is a fully RPG for my basic needs😊

I don't get the complaints about Skyrim's combat -- sure its simple, even simplistic in some ways, but that has its pros as well as cons. I don't see where its clunky -- it was perfectly responsive last time I played. What is this "weight" people talk about and seem to want so badly anyway? And what does it even mean to be "floaty"? A good game should have simple, ergonomic, and responsive controls, which Skyrim does, not perfectly but for the most part. Now, the overly linear quests, limited and sometime meaningless dialogue choices, limited consequence to the player character, limited-to-lacking visible effects of player actions on the world -- that I can see. That really seems a valid and worthy critique. Simplified RPG mechanics, sure, that is spot on, for better or worse to your taste, though I can appreciate more detail in such things.

For me it's the modding. I share most of your grievances about Skyrim, but I have addressed them with mods, at least in my game. There is no game that exist in which I have interest in playing for more than 200 hours except for Skyrim. I even admit to say that I have never or have any interest in completing the main Skyrim quest line, but I'm still excited to play it today like it's a new game release. I play Skyrim with multiple modpacks that vary in focus which keeps gameplay fresh and nearly unrecognizable from the original release. I'm very grateful to Bethesda for allowing us to modify their games.

so in other words, you are telling me, we just need to stop supporting starfield? not a problem for me, but there are the few 500 concurrent players still playing the game, they are the unpaid bug testers of that game, they shouldn't put that game on their top priority if it's going to take them 5 years to potentially fix it. they should put less ppl working on starfield and dedicate the team to the next elder scrolls instead.

I agree with the general premise you have given for the future of games, however two points probably need to be cleared. 1 - A lot of what is currently labelled AI is not AI, rather it is ML (Machine Learning) which could be helpful but will not provide the additional depth of understanding of how, for example, material works. It cant tell one material and it's properties in a given environment or scenario of use from another, without a significant amount of accessible data and logic applications to quickly select and apply. 2 - The hardware required for genuine AI applications is currently (and for the foreseeable future) far beyond a gaming pc. For AI to work in games there would need to be a significant step up in the hardware accessed by all.

I hope they can get rid of all the loading screens. I understand the reason behind that. so they can have more detailed smaller environments. BUT for this they just have to improve the real time rendering of their game engine. the render distance could be decreased for that. and a new system like nanite of ue5. we dont need loading screens for every area ingame. and primarily NOT for small buildings/rooms

they need to make the game engine interactive as possible so we can have insane mods in future. so non unreal engine hopefully

This video doesn't really help people deciding which mod list might fit them the best. I'll try to help here, by sharing what I've learnt from my own research: - *Eldergleam* is mostly a vanilla Skyrim with drastically improved visuals. It's made for people to use as a base line and then add their own mods to the mix. It got new animations including for combat with animation locked movement in 3rd person, too. - *Nolvus* is a complete revamp of the game (visuals, locations, more content, etc. etc.). It is also an absolute power fantasy. Animations are very anime and you're just over powered out the whazuuu. - *LoreRim* is a complete revamp of the game (similar to Nolvus). However it uses Requiem as base = no more level scaling = you can cross lvl100 enemies at lvl1 and you can be lvl100 and still find lvl1 enemies. LoreRim also reworks combat similar to Noluvs with animation locked movement in 3rd person, but it's way less "anime". LoreRim tries to not be an unhinged power fantasy/ deliver a more grounded game play experience. LoreRim also adds some survival aspects and injuries and includes other changes, that make the game more immersive, but also more tedious. - *Gate to Sovngarde* stays closer to vanilla skyrim. It improves on the visuals, but doen't need you to own a high end PC to run it. This modlist doesn't change combat a whole lot. But it went a similar route like LoreRim in terms of survival mechanics. With thirst, hunger, cold and injuries. Worldprogression is somewhere between Requiem and Vanilla (some things are not level scaled, but when you get high level some things will scale with your level to not completely trivialize the encounters). A nice touch is, that cleared camps and hide outs might get populated by guards, which makes the world more save over time, thanks to your actions. - There's an other good alternative modlist, not even mentioned in this video: *Nordic Souls* This modlist keeps the original combat gameplay of Skyrim, but improves it, by adding better hit boxes, removes enemy auto-tracking, etc. This lets you space and sidestep attacks and thus granting you more skill expression. Nordic Souls doesn't try to turn Skyrim into a different game (which could be argued LoreRim and Nolvus change way more about the gameply). Nordic Souls features more content mods, than LoreRim (currently. Maybe LoreRim 3.0 will close the gap in the future). Nordic Souls is not a power fantasy and tries to keep the game play challenging. I hope this helps other people. I still highly recommend checking out the respective modlist descriptions on their Nexus page/ GitHup/ Wabbajack to learn more about those mod lists. Personally I haven't play tested any of them. I'm doing my research, which mod list I want to try out.

I'm a supporter of the Empire but I understand the Nords perspective. They are a very strong and independent people but their pride gets in their way. Prevents them from seeing the big picture.
