Father and Son Team Work Around Remote 1980's Log Cabin in the Rainy Alaskan Wilderness
Another rainy July day in this remote region of Alaska! Watch as my dad and I complete small tasks around the cabin and property like installing cleats on our new dock, re-stain animal scratches around the cabin door, and set up game cameras to see what goes lurking around our remote Alaskan log cabin while we are away.
Thank you to all of our old and new subscribers, and to all who have been watching our videos and following this awesome journey on TH-cam!

    Time has gone by too quickly. I can't believe it is time for you to leave already. It seems like you just got there. I will look forward to the 'extras' you will be publishing. I'm not knowledgeable about the capabilities of them, but have watched other YT shows where they seem to wipe out acres of growth. Just a random thought. I am watching you from the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, my most favorite place (though I am no world traveler) We could sure use some of that moisture you have there. If your fire was built on tundra make sure it's completely out. Tundra can burn a long time once it gets down in. Be safe. Great season. Keep us posted.❤

    I have broken drill bits also. I can't wait to see what your game cameras capture! Bears, martens, porcupines, beavers, woodchucks.... The big question I have is: Why are you keeping the one tree that is right behind your cabin? Thank you for sharing, and have a good week!

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We've seen at least two of the above mentioned animals so far! I'm still going through the files I collected during my Sept visit. The tree right behind the cabin is the largest healthy spruce tree on the property. I plan on keeping it so long as it isn't a serious threat to the cabin. Excavating out from under and around the cabin has required messing with some of it's roots, but I'm hoping it fulls through. I wan't the spruce tree population to start growing back! Thank you for watching!

      Browning Strike Force Extreme. I've heard good things about these from other Alaskan residents and am happy with them so far! I've got some pretty cool footage on them between July - September; I'll post that in upcoming videos from my September trip.

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Absolutely. A good weed wacker will most likely happen in 2025. 1/4 down gravel will gave to wait until I live there full time and can snow machine it in after freeze up. Thank you for watching!

    • @michaelyarmie4858
      @michaelyarmie4858 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @OhashiOutdoors you should get some of those bags they use when they are stopping flood waters and load them with ¼ down rock, now so they are ready to go come freeze up. And a back up chainsaw.

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Unfortunately, I won't make it out there this winter. I live and work full-time in Japan. Alaska is my passion project and getaway until I'm able to retire and we can live wherever we want! That is still sound advice though; I will remember it and make it happen as soon as I can. Thank you for watching!

    I don’t understand why you (and others) waste. 6”-8” diameter logs in your slash pile burns. That’s a lot of good firewood going to waste.

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Everyone has their reason. I'd turn it into good firewood if I lived out there full time and had a bigger wood shed to store it in. I keep my little wood shed full, and enjoy large outdoor fires when I can! Plus, many of those beetle kill spruce logs are pretty rotten inside.

    Great video! Any recs on where it look for a similar place? I hope to spend a month in AK looking for a good place. I’m liking north of Willow. Not a fan of crowds but do need to be within about an hour or two of a grocery.

      Thank you! North of Willow in Trapper Creek or Talkeetna has some nice cabin plots and isn't too busy (unless you go to Talkeetna during tourist season 😂). West of Anchorage in Valdez or Tanacross are also nice. You can't go wrong being in Alaska!
