    Another good video. thats a good idea to build the stand for the canoe . I am still amassed at how much you get accomplished by yourself. The good thing about the cabin is it gives you a learning experience that will come in handy once you get to the point of building one yourself.
    The hardest thing is what most don't think about such as doing laundry, dishes, showers etc. Congratulations on your goals! I can see you know how to. get them met and look forward to the rest of your videos.!

      Thank you for watching and supporting the channel, Rick! My parents definitely taught us kids work ethic growing up. I also love all the work I'm doing out there, so that makes it easy!
      Thats a valuable comment you made about the normally overlooked everyday tasks: laundry, dishes, shower, etc. Especially if I want our future cabin/home to be a place my wife and family want to spend extended periods of time. We've got about 8 or 9 years to think about how we want to do that. Best wishes to you and yours!

    Good luck with all your plans on what you want to do 😊. What a great deal on the kerosene lanterns. Stay safe 🙏.

      Thank you! I always keep at least two windows cracked for air flow in the cabin when propane and kerosene lanterns are being used. We appreciate you watching and supporting the channel!

    Garrison Keillor an American Classic. Loved to listen to him on the radio.

      Yes he is! This was my first time listening to him, but I thorough enjoyed Lake Wobegon. After returning to civilization I did some research on him and his talks/writings.

      Great having a cassette player as you can gets tons of entertainment on the cheap. Those tapes are practically given away:-). The batteries are the biggest expense-ha! If you can find any tapes with "Story Corps" stories, you will not be disappointed.

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll keep my eyes open for "Story Corps," thank you for the recommendation! Batteries are expensive, so lets hope the tape player is efficient 😁

    Nice video, I see you put a time lapse sequence in there! As far as building your own cabin, you could identify a building site, and start clearing the area for whatever foundation you are going to use. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week.

      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Much appreciated! Yes, I've used a few time lapses in this series. Hopefully there will be a few drone shots on next year's trip! Thank you for watching!

    You're very young; there's lots of time ahead of you to make changes to the property, pursue new projects and enjoy doing it. Dinner looked great! Love the fire.

      You're absolutely right. I'm enjoying every moment spent out there and back home with my family. However, we are still excited to reach a point in our lives where we can do things like this full time. Thank you for the wisdom, perspective, and for watching!

    At age 65 I would love to have 6 acres on a lake. Live your dream before you get to old

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's some of the best advice I've gotten here, thank you. The only way we are able to afford 6 lakefront acres is due to the remoteness. We are still grateful we're able to afford this small piece of paradise ☺️ Thank you for watching!

    Keillor's "Lake WoeBeGone" on PBS was a hit for years. Wife and I found it to be quite entertaining.

    I would prep a cabin site pad away from the springs. Then I would dismantle and move the cabin to the new pad. That way you can fix the foundation problems, properly insulate and critter proof the floor, walls, and roof, and any other problems you might find. It would also allow you to develop the spring for use.

      Great idea! If only I had the time 🤣 that is a possible long term solution I will consider in the future. Until then, I'm just trying to fix the pilings where the cabin sits. After retirement, hopefully we can do something more permanent! Thank you for sharing your ideas and for watching!

    Thanks for the video. I do agree that it would be nice if you could speak a little at the beginning of your video. Other than that, nice work.
    Have you got the cabin winterized? Enough firewood? Also, would enjoy seeing your dad with you again. 😊

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll consider that for future trips. I put chapters in the video descriptions, too. A quick glance at that tells exactly what is in the video. Thank you for watching!

    Lovely video again and that fish looked yummy!! Will you be able to go to the property once winter hits? Would you be able to snowmobile it in instead of fly or is that not an option

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The fish and rose hips were delicious! Unfortunately, I won't be making it out there this winter. We are living in Tokyo right now; between work, family life, and the complications of getting out there in winter, it won't happen this year.
      The property can be reached by snow machine, but I don't have a snow machine in AK yet. That will have to wait until we live up there full-time.

      For land sales? Will do! It's still not "free land" like the homestead act, but I'm sure it's a way to find a good deal on land with a bit of luck. Thank you for watching!

    Why do you leave the stumps so tall?

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use them as splitting blocks around the campfire area. The height also helps with leverage when it comes time to remove a select few for landscaping purposes. Thank you for watching!

    How in the world aren't you eaten alive by bugs? You're better than I.

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no idea! I'm usually the sweetest human in the woods getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. The ones out here, however, rarely buzz aroudn me but rarely bite. I leave every trip with only a few itchy bumps. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    I wounder why you dont save the wood to later and burn all that

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wood storage. We have a small 3-sided shed out there to keep firewood dry and seasoned. Definitely not enough space for the amount of timber processed during this trip. I also thoroughly enjoy outdoor fires. Thank you for watching!

    Some dialogue at the start to tell the viewer what you are doing would make your vidios more watchable.

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I appreciate that feedback and may incorporate that into the footage on future trips. I also learn a lot about filming while editing videos, but (at this point in time) it's impossible to travel back in time and shoot more footage in September, 2023, so you'll see more of the same until this playlist closes out. Thank you for trying to watch my videos and providing feedback!
