Thank you! There is overland access via snow machine once everything freezes solid. Unfortunately, I don't live in AK full time yet and don't own a snow machine or boat, so that restricts me to air travel. We appreciate you watching and are happy to hear you're still enjoying the content! Let me know if there is anything you'd like to see out there.
🤣 Isn't it awesome?! I couldn't have asked for a better tape to be left by the previous owner. This was my first time hearing about and listening to him. Thank you for watching!
Hello my friend. Enjoyed another great video from you. Very relaxing. The lake behind you looked so still and peaceful . Do you feel sad in a way to be leaving? Anyways cheers my friend
Thank you, @billgoeckel6344 ! It was extremely peaceful out there. The lake is often still, which makes for many relaxing times out there. I miss the cabin very much and cant wait to get back there!
I'll miss your videos until you get back to them around Sept. 2024. Hope you have a great Christmas and new year. Did you see the movie "In to the Wild". about a young man that went to Alaska, a true story, but had a sad ending. I'll be waiting for more of your videos coming, later. Take Care... Virgil.
Thank you, @virgilchristopherson3626 I have 2 more Alaska videos coming out over the next two weeks, although the last one will be short and partly traveling back to Japan. Thank you for always watching our content and commenting! We are greatful
You have done a fantastic job clearing the area I could see at the front of the cabin. What a lot of work you have accomplished! You should be very proud. It looks so much better. It was so terribly overgrown, I couldn't even imagine it looking that good!! Congratulations!! It's going to be a never ending chore though, I'm afraid. That area seems to be very lush with ground vegetation. It's going to be a long time before we can join in this journey with you again. I will be anxiously awaiting next spring. And looking forward to your final installment of this trip also, of course.
Thank you @bernieluke49 ! We have no problems with clearing ground brush each trip. Especially when the ground is wet enough to allow fires! We've got two more episodes of this trip coming out over the next two weeks, and may try a Japanese camping trip video here soon. It's not Alaska, but it's something.. Thank you for following us from the beginning and showing your support in the comments section all this time!
Thank you for watching and following along! I have two more episodes coming out on this trip, although the last will also show part of the journey back to Japan. We hope to see you again on future cabin adventures!
Thank you! i enjoy every day spent out there. It doesn't matter if it's spent clearing brush, canoeing, fishing, or just relaxing. Thank you for watching!
Good to know! I didn't throw any of it away except for the used bar of soap. It could be handy in a pinch! From my experience, the bandaids probably won't work anymore though.. the adhesive tends to go bad on those after about 8-10 years. Thank you for watching!
I'm sure a pull-up bar will materialize it's way into some project out there. While I'm out there, everyday serves as my workout. slinging a chainsaw for a few hours, carrying awkward loads, digging, pushing, pulling, etc. My body and hands feel completely wrecked waking up the first one or two mornings out there, as it's completely different work than I normally do. Thank you for watching!
You'll probably find that you'll be adjusting that door a bit every year as the cabin rises and settles with the frost. That was a quick cheap fix which made it easy for this year! -Dusty
I'm sure you're right! It's incredible how much heat and cold affect things. It will be interesting to see how it works over the next few trips. Thank you for watching, Dusty!
@@OhashiOutdoorsHi Mr, Ohashj, Everything looks great but those logs that you placed in the dirt aren't going to last long without treatment of some sort. You could at least char the bottoms that are resting on the dirt and the ends of the logs. I've seen many others do this to preserve the wood. Take care😁😍💖❣️
Thank you, @judyschepp8748 ! The log canoe stand is a temporary solution for this year. I plan on building a long open-air storage shed to keep some of the weather and snow load off the canoe, and store more firewood. We will see if we're able to get it done on the next trip! Great recommendation though, we will do that for some of the logs in this future building project! Thank you for watching!
I remember all the maintenance I had to do with the chain saw, I youta cut wood with my Dad, I could never get the saw sharpened right, I would take it to some one. You have a lot of things left there at the cabin you can put to good use. How do you do your laundry? especially when your pants gets muddy. every new video I see you have clean clothes, until the end of the video. You did a great job on the log canoe stand. Hope you have more videos coming. Keep up the great work.
I'm by no means an expert or professional with chainsaws and maintenance, but I do notice the chain cuts noticeable better after running a file over the teeth a few times. As for laundry, I don't do it out there. I use either body wipes or the lake to clean my body, and will soak and scrub cloths in the lake if they get extremely dirty. I change my socks, drawers, and t-shirt every day or two. Between the rain, drying them over the wood stove, and wearing them around, the pants last me nearly the whole trip. Thank you for watching!
Unfortunately, no. Winter is a busy time for us here in Japan and trips out there are quite expensive. I have my next trip tentatively scheduled for Sept/Oct, 2024. Thank you for watching!
May I suggest a BUSH HOOK.... it is the most useful hand tool when you have branches, roots and small trees.... you would never regret having it by your side..... Good cleaning there... a wonderful getaway..... LA
Great suggestion! I've seen those in some of the smaller hardware shops around Anchorage and have always wanted to get one. I'll keep it in mind and get one out there one of these trips! Thank you for the suggestion, for commenting, and for watching!

Is there overland access in the winter or are you limited to air service?
I enjoy watching your videos.

Looking good 👍🏻

Use chainsaw to smooth out notches. Our military trick after setting up remote runways in Deep jungles.
Of course we strap shape charges to down trees..
Sounds like a good trick! I need to practice doing finer work with a chainsaw, so thank you for the recommendation!
I love what you have done with the cabin and grounds. Enjoy after your hard work.

@@OhashiOutdoors Try a Stihl 2-in-1 chain sharpener. It makes the job really easy and it files the tooth and the raker in the same stoke.
working two files with each stroke sounds much more efficient! Perhaps I'll give it a try sometime. Thank you for the recommendation!
