Kingdom Coming (Fiddle and Banjo
I first heard this song played by @2ndSouthCarolinaStringBand. I've learned it on fiddle, but not on banjo! I'm playing/jamming here with @Yallquietendown .
"Kingdom Coming", also known as "The Year of Jubilo", is an American Civil War song, written and composed by Henry C. Work in 1862, prior to the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.
(I will not be responding to/reading comments much until the end of August, as I am in Quantico VA having a wonderful time at USMC OCS)

I learned this song from @CliftonHicksbanjo, and the lessons he has on his channel. I like Cedric Watson's, Clifton's, and Seeger's versions of this song. To my knowledge, this song is a true folk song in the sense that the composer is unknown and that it was 'collected'. (I will not be responding to/reading comments much until the end of August, as I am in Quantico VA having a wonderful time a...

A nice little song, written by Silas S. Steele in 1847. Steele also wrote the "Rose of Alabama/y". Both songs are featured on the @2ndSouthCarolinaStringBand channel, and I first heard it from them. The Tombigee is a river in Eastern Mississippi and Western Alabama. I am playing a @GardnersDulcimer Minstrel Banjo in Curly Maple. I learned this song from Clifton Hicks. I'm playing here at @Yallquietendown 's house. I had a great time playing some of his banjos! This song is originally (to my knowledge) from Rev. Buell Kazee of Magoffin County, Kentucky. (I will not be responding to/reading comments much until the end of August, as I am in Quantico VA having a wonderful time at USMC OCS)

A country/gospel classic written by Hank Williams. I'm visiting @Yallquietendown and playing guitar here with @Yallquietendown playing the banjo. I don't remember much of the lyrics, so I joined in singing a couple of times for the refrain.

Master and Commander: Far Side of the World is one of my favorite movies. This song is featured in the film, when Captain Aubrey and his officer are dining in the officer’s mess. This is a song I first heard long ago, back when I first started learning German. Many people on TH-cam associate it with the Teutonic Knights. This is not the case. Based on the lyrics of the song itself, It's more clear that it's about the Baltic Freikorps - The 'Baltikumer'. One famous unit was the "Iron Brigade" (no, not those Black Hats civil war buffs are familiar with). These Freikorps u...

I learned this song by ear. It's a very popular Stephen Foster song that almost everyone in the USA might recognize by ear, in the same way they would "Turkey in the Straw" or "Oh Susanna" This banjo was made by @kylewood4852. Check him out for some cool banjos and really good music. "Official" Lyrics: De Camptown ladies sing dis song, Doo-dah! doo-dah! De Camptown race-track five miles long, O...

Recently got a guitar for Christmas, and have been learning some songs on it. This is the first one I feel comfortable posting. I first heard this song played by @CliftonHicksbanjo , but I've modified the lyrics a bit. Please, let me know what I could improve regarding recording/playing guitar for the future! Lyrics: 1. In a neat little town they call Belfast, apprentice to trade I was bound. A...

What tuning is this?
Sing the whole song 😮
Been trying to find that Roscoe Holcomb frank profffitt tuning 😂 just syarted pkcking the banjo after a few years of mountain guitar
I’m way late to this, but can you tell me what tuning you used? My grandma wants me to learn this for her :)
This might be one of my new favorite videos on the internet. Outstanding performance, and beautifully filmed too. Bro you’re making me want a minstrel banjo even more now!! Mesmerizing sound you’ve got there.
Came for the mustache, stayed for the watermelon shirt.
this is awesome nice job
Oh Lord I've been a' workin' Workin' like a dog all day Tryna make another dollar For you to throw away You spend all my money You go dress so fine While I wear old rags And don't have a dime You don't bake my bread You don't cook my beans 'Cause you're standing by that haul road Wishin' you were seen Oh I wish I were a' hangin' Hangin' from an old grapevine Then to know I'd be with you For the rest of time Oh Lord I've been a' workin' Workin' like a dog all day Tryna make another dollar For you to throw away
You're my new musical influence

Everything I wanna say’s already been said. Just ❤❤❤
Where was this recorded? Absolutely stunning.
Simply brilliant, fretless banjo too! I think this is pretty close to how 18th-century German immigrants would have done it.
So glad this popped into my feed
Tolles Video!
Knox, your unique way of strumming adds to the tune. However, in this video the banjo is louder than your singing. Be Well.
Well played & sung, Knox. Thanks. From your playing technique, how old that song is & your surroundings, I'm taken back in time, over 100 years, to when that song was new. Where & how did you learn such old songs? Be Well.
I came to your channel after hearing a nice banjo tune just to find you singing german right wing extremist songs 🤦♂
Leave. I play songs because I like them. Germans should cease being afraid of their own shadow, too.
This song has no basis in "right wing extremism". Always the "communists" trying to shame people for healthily engaging in the reproduction and preservation of beautiful cultural artefacts such as music and art. Get a life.
The "hrmph bruh" in the end is part of the original Text xD
You’re real cool man
tabs?
This man is wonderful !
White guy playing minstrel banjo and wearing a watermelon shirt 👀
Put it up to 1.5 speed and it's very jaunty
How did you learn to play like this?
The ottomans been real quiet since this dropped.
i am incredibly attracted to you. please let me know if you're looking for a charming young woman to keep the banjo warm for you while you're away
Beginner Banjo player here. Love your style. Been trying to figure out how to play this at home, and I can't quite figure out what style you're playing here. Surely not clawhammer, because how would those melody notes fit? Any tips & direction you can give would be greatly appreciated.
@@MichaelSchonfeld-i3h it is. I’m pretty sure I’m doing something called drop-thumbing. Makes the rhythm into four eighth notes instead of a quarter note+ two eights. You just drop the thumb to another string instead of striking the fifth
It’s a good sounding zither
nice mr greeley
dear that's incredible, i just love how ya sound it, it inspires me to learn more of it, you're a natural. I plan on acquiring a Banjo soon, your videos surely inspire me to learn. Keep going buddy, God bless ya. ❤

This cover definitely itches a scratch in my brain that I always have after getting home from my server job
One of my favorite songs
from now on I'd humming this along on the road... it's way too catchy! this song's somehow nostalgic to me since my grandpa had been to around FL back in ole days. what a great place and has kind of same climate as we got here down in Java. again what an excellent rendition from you Knox!
As a Turk, I truly respect haha
