The train/singing hobo scene in Pee Wee's Big Adventure: "she'll be wearing pink pajamas when she comes" 😂 thanks for your renditions, knox. You're helping me (and I think others) keep a modicum of sanity in a tumultuous time
Allow me to jump onto the pile of people begging you to put this onto spotify. Also, I just love that fretless Banjo. Yours is the first that I have ever heard of and it is all the good sounds of the banjo without the sting that the banjo sounds sometimes has.
@@knoxmassey6822 Alright awesome! And, after listening to the song again, it is maybe a bit more chaotically fast than I remember so might of not been the best to suggest but at the least it’s fun to listen to
It didn't take long at all since I learned on a fretted one first. I'd say about a year to be good at the fretted and from there fretless is an easy transition
I’ve been playing Scruggs style off and on with a cheap Chinese Amazon resonator for two years (main instrument is guitar) I just bought a Deering Goodtime and Im going to try to pursue frailing style! Watching your videos makes me even more stoked to get into it! Do you have any suggestions for a first song to try with the frailing/clawhammer method?
@@knoxmassey6822 I’ve been practicing for about 4 days now, I started on cripple creek, then I learned oh Susannah, then boatman’s dance, and right now I’m working on trifling woman. This is so much fun. I uploaded a video of me playing boatman’s dance, if you get a chance to watch it sometime I would seriously appreciate some pointers. I really don’t know what I’m doing lol. I was curious if you have heard Hills of Bendigo by Brodie Buttons. If you did a cover of that song my life would be complete😭
As a young American I've been having this deep longing for a culture and a people to call my own. I don't think there's one single thing that all Americans have in common today, and its really a shame. These videos have almost been a form of escapism for me, trying to get away from modernity and back to a time when America actually had a culture.

My dad used to play this on our front porch every morning looking out at the mountainscapes we lived behind :)
Sing this song since I was a kid.

Loving these regular uploads!
Glad you like it MattyIce
I honestly forgot this song existed, but this performance is contagious, I can now play this song too!

An oldie and a goodie. We sang this on road trips as children. ❤️

My kiddos love it when I play this one if I pull out the banjo-the kids version (via Pete Seeger) Nice playing there!
You're so talented! Thank you for sharing!
To me this is authentic America. Great playing. Also you look like a Catch Wrestler from late 1800s .
Good performance, earned a new sub
You inspired me to get a banjo :)
Nice! If you haven’t gotten one yet, check out my video for references to research and better advice

Your videos on minstrel talked me into making the jump from clawhammer.
What are you tuned in?
Standard tuning for this, its just tuned down cause the strings are thicker here
I don’t know if you are keen on people requesting music but Crooked Still has an awesome cover of Oxford Town that I think you could really nail
Im never ever annoyed by requests, I just listen to the song typically and play it if I feel like it

Incredible stuff as always, love the striped shirt. Have you thought of learning John Brown’s March? Would be awesome to see you perform that one
Haven’t heard it, will listen to it now

This performance is a great, simple goodness! Wonderfully done.
How long did it take you to learn to play fretless banjo?
