Hey Knox, you should look into Russian 7 string guitar - it's traditionally tuned the exact same as banjo besides the fifth string. You can also do the open G tuning on a standard 6 string guitar. That's how I've been playing guitar for two years and I actually don't know standard tuning.
Any instrument that has frets and requires you to play chords is going to be eas(ier) to switch between. Going from guitar -> banjo is easier than the reverse, from what I've learned. It just depends on what you want your focus to be and what you want to be better at (for me, banjo). I have musical experience going back to elementary school, though, so it's not really hard for me to just learn songs by ear if I have the chords.
@@knoxmassey6822 thanks for the quick and insightful answer. Yeah my musical experience isn't that broad and I wouldn't say I'm nessecarily good with the banjo but the guitar interests me whether it's easier to play or not so we'll see. Satisfied with the banjo for now though. Enjoy your the rest of your day (from the Netherlands)
If you are interested, get one if you can spare the money. It's easy to strum chords once you learn em and get the callouses built. I can just play chords and sing and be as happy as can be, I don't need much fancy picking or anything even though it sounds nice. @@albusperkamentus5097

You bet!
Missed the nose-fur nearly as much as the banger tunes!

Very cool to see more guitar videos. How is your experience switching to guitar from banjo? Would you say you have an advantage?

Wait, did you play banjo before guitar?
Yes, I learned the banjo first
@@knoxmassey6822 Neat! I think you've has the opposite experience than most.
@@alexanderwoodward9918 Yes, going from guitar -> banjo makes you a better banjo player from the music I see played by people I know.
