singapore’s BRAND NEW mandai boardwalk // 3.3kms of beauty - the stunning upper seletar reservior
The new mandai boardwalk is open taking you on a beautiful walk around the perimeter of the zoo and river wonders and giving amazing views of the Upper Seletar reservoir.
I had no idea just how large the reservoir was until I did this walk. The smooth board walk makes this walk accessible for buggy or wheelchair users so all can enjoy the breeze from the water and the stop off points along the way to take a break and see what nature you can find.
Along the way you can catch a glimpse of the giraffes being fed inside the zoo, it's not an obvious spot so you have to keep your eyes open and look all around.
You don't need a ticket to get onto the walk and with the many new dining areas available outside of the mandai parks themselves you can enjoy a walk and grab something to eat.
This is a great addition to the mandai area for nature lovers and the many animals that I am sure will be making this place home.

singapore's wild west - monster lizards // migratory bird trail, sungei buloh wetlands reserve
มุมมอง 10K16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Sungei Buloh is one of our favourites places to take our time and nature spot. This wetland reserve boasts wild crocodiles, but don't come just for them! We spent a joyous 4 hours walking around the migratory bird trail, looking carefully for creatures big and small. We saw so many interesting insects when we got down low and looked at the floor and railings. We saw the largest monitor lizard w...

There are so many shopping malls in Singapore and after you've been to a few it does feel like you've been to them all. Somerset 313 has many other options for things to do including a bowling alley, an arcade and several craft shops with hands on activities. ...

Planning to go this weekend provided that it does not rain. That is a Spot-billed pelican and a Buffy fish owl that you have seen. ^_^
I knew that you will be putting out this video today! I did not go due to the recent rain. Hopefully it would be better next Friday cause its when I already planned to go. If you are fortunate enough, you will also be able to see the Grey Headed Fish Eagle which is a local resident there. Yes those are Pelicans. Not wild but part of the zoo exhibit. That Owl you saw there is the Buffy Fish Owl, also known as Malay Fish Owl.
wow, looks beautiful
Perhaps, the only few local places that one don't get to see HDB flats. 😜
Thanks for the video. It's great to know tht our island still has lots to offer in terms of natural flora & fauna.
It sure does, and such a variety too.
Are you planning to cover the new Mandai boardwalk. It looks amazing over the internet.
Keep an eye out this Friday, can subscribe so you don’t miss it if you haven’t already. 😉
A beautiful and very personal account of Ubin! Thank you guys❤
glad you liked one, this place has many happy memories for us.
I love zoo
The zoo is great too, have you seen our videos about the zoo and their other parks too?
No more already moved, today just went waste time and petrol
oh that's a shame. Sorry to hear, this is an older video now and things change.
Monitors are literally land crocs lol
They sure look like it, I've never seen one move fast but I bet they can.
Hey, Emmanuel Cycles is one of the shops I frequent regularly! Fun fact - the boss's name is just Manuel, but he figured that Emmanuel is smoother off the tongue compared to Manuel for some people, hence Emmanuel Cycles.
Thanks for that little bit of info!
Will be seeing you in person very soon 💜💜💜
Can't wait!!!!
That’s is a temple viper I think
Ah you are right. I just looked them both up for images, thanks!
@ np
That is indeed a MASSIVE monitor lizard!
Yeah! Such a beast. Mad how they can just camouflage too.
If only we can fast forward the Mrt station is there today. A couple of years time haha 😅
There is a public bus that can drop you off right outside about a 8-10 min ride from an MRT station.
Hey! I saw you guys at the Punggol Coast MRT as I was heading home from coney Island! I absolutely love you guys and great work!
Aww hey! Do say hi next time ☺️ thanks for the encouragement, means a lot.
@@WONDERLUSTworld Will do! I didn't want to disturb you guys filming the B roll of the chairs haha
Hahaha 🤣 I’m sure we look quite odd sometimes filming.
@@WONDERLUSTworld Haha! i initially was like "hey those people look kinda familiar " then I realised it was you guys just recording an awesome video! 🤣
Hi Jonty, I saw you on the mrt earlier today - you boarded at Serangoon and alighted at the next stop. I didn't say hi as I'm socially awkward and I wasn't sure if it was you. I spoke with my colleague after I reached my workplace as he's a fan of your channel - he scolded me for not taking a picture with you 😅 Thanks for your videos!
Hey Linus - yeah that was me! Was rushing to get back to work! Hahah. Appreciate you getting in touch. You’re a bassist?
My granddad caught one of those lizards once. We made soup. It was suppose to be "nutritious". Yucks!
Oh my no way!!!!
Hi Wonderlust, Thanks for sharing this wonderful video we really enjoyed watching. We know is not easy to make this video take care.
We appreciate the kind words!
Happy lunar new year in advance, my husband & I love nature too. 😊
Thanks! Happy Lunar New Year to you and your husband too.
@@WONDERLUSTworld Are you guys celebrating the lunar new year this month? 😊
We haven’t decided quite what we’re doing at home yet but we have a reunion dinner with all of Jonty’s family. How about you?
@ I am having my reunion dinner tomorrow evening. 😊
I believe you be going to the newly opened Mandai Boardwalk soon. Won't be surprised to see a video from you next week.
We'll see what we can do! 😉
Water’s close enough to touch! I do love the swelling tide-gives a different mood to the mangrove, and you really get a sense of the hydrological dynamics of such a large body of water when it’s tidal like that. You can actually feel it. 😭 Look at all the handsome monitors. Absolutely mahoooosive. Love em.
The tides going in and out make it feel like two different places across the day with the different sights and animals that come and go with the tides.
Hello Millie, I always enjoy watching your videos, hope you guys are doing fine, hope to see you guys again soon. 😊
Thank you for the kind words, we are doing well 😊
Hope to see you guys soon. 😊
I’m guessing the next video will be the mandai wildlife boardwalk
Haha 😛 you know us well. It’s monsoon season so I just need the rain to stay away.
Never let an italian see u eat pizza with utensils😂
hahah hands is the right way for sure.
So lovely to see this throwback to a dry day during the rainy season! And your love for wildlife really shines through.
Glad you could see that through this video, we really had the best time making it.
I guess ur the only european person that goes to the park at hot noon. Non of us locals even do that.. but its not hot this month about 26-28c🥳
Yeah maybe, apparently the wildlife is more active morning and evening so I guess those are the popular times.
Good job guys
Thanks!
Thanks for another fantastic video! Never fails to give me a mood lift!😂 Looking forward to the newly opened Mandai boardwalk!
Aww thanks for the nice encouragement. Keep an eye out soon for a video on the Mandai boardwalk 😉
You are back again!! ^_^ The migratory birds will usually fly in at around 930am to 1030am. Sadly, this year it is a bit quiet compared to previous years.
Ah that’s interesting, do you know where? You sound like a frequent visitor.
@WONDERLUSTworld Oh you can see the birds from the main hide. Just need to catch the right timing and months. 😁
Ah I’ll have to look this up and make a point to go back at the right times.
Good catch on the fish. I suppose they're feeding, can't think of any reason for them to leap out of the water unless they were being chased.
They are pretty amazing to watch aren't they? We wondered if under the water the fish are saying “hey Mike, look at this, look how far I can jump” 😝 and then his friend is saying “that’s nothing Steve look at this one”
It was so nice watching you share how you enjoyed this peaceful time capsule - thank you for allowing us to live vicariously through this video.
Ah thanks! We love this place and hope it stays this way for all to enjoy. ☺️
anyone that get free things they dont need to say they would not promote hahahah they will.
Maybe… but we’d only choose promote something we think is good 🙂
hell nah wet Char Kuey Teow, Time for some proper Penang fried CKT
We liked it but I’d be keen to try other kinds.
I did this hike 2 days ago & I thought about your video, I was freaking mad when it started to rain. Lol
It's such a beautiful place but can change so quickly weather wise! How did you get on? Have your legs recovered yet?
@@WONDERLUSTworldall went well couldn't catch the via ferrata on time. I just did it the next day. I dislike how the park put time limits on things.
Guess for safety purposes? Glad you got to do it!
used to go camping there in the 80’s , abit more wild back then.
Wow, it seems pretty wild now. Any stories you can share?
@ night time people from across do swim over , that why the army or the gurkhas do patrol along the beaches with m16. nowadays technology do the walk. beside the usual wild animals you see nowadays, they captured 2 wild elephants on the island before , swam across from JB. While the mainland banned firecrackers and fireworks, we had our countdown there and setting off fireworks and firecrackers.
Oh that’s really interesting, elephants! 🐘 amazing. I think I’m going to read up some more about Ubin from the past. Thanks!
I love Ubin! Thank you for taking me there again vicariously. I’ll wait for sunnier weather to make my next trip! Puaka hill is one of my favourite spots too. Can you fly a drone in Ubin?
It really is such a special place. No you can’t fly a drone sadly. I’d love to see that place from the sky.
one of the thigns I love about singapore is that you have this Uber Modern city with these lovely little enclaves not very far away at all
I completely agree! It's amazing to be able to step away from the city and feel like you're in a whole other world.
Just orange cats doing orange cat things haha
Haha are they the fighting kind?
It's a near little adventure no need to go far Borneo or Kalimantan far far deep deepJava jungle and hey it's just a stone throw Singapore island 🏝️
A good close by getaway if you want to be on an island for the day and feel like you’re on holiday.
If only Ubin has a holiday resort ⛵ why why why
I’m kinda glad it doesn’t though…
Ubin used to have a holiday resort, not sure if it is now. Went in the early 2000’s. Just look up the map, got occupied by the obs.
Oh I didn’t know that! I’ve just been looking it up, TH-cam has some old videos of it! We’ve seen it there but didn’t know that’s what it was. All the abandoned chalets.
@ Remember beside the chalets room , there is a open swimming pool , kayaking, bbq pit , pool table , archery and a flying fox facility. they got their own jetty and the boat pickup is at punggol marina club. that all i could remember.
Yeah that’s matches up with what we saw online. We found an old TH-cam video someone made where they flew a drone over there and you can see it all from above. Guess it didn’t make the money it needed. It would be cool to stay over there but have it as a conservation holiday stay. That way it wouldn’t get as spoilt as if you stay there you onto help with conservation or to learn about the plants and wild life there.
That house reminds me of Pete's dragon movie or aquaman house by the sea or even Popeye house near the seaside...dunno..but somehow
It’s such a lovely house but looks so out of place at the same time as fitting right in! I’d love to wake up to that view.
Excellent video - thanks. How do-able is Pulau Ubin if you're on foot? It must be nearly 40 years since either of us cycled anywhere.... there are lots of hills where we live!
You can easily do Pulau ubin by foot. It really isn’t that large at all. Maybe just look up the routes so you know which ones you want to do to allow enough time. Take plenty of water and food but don’t eat near the monkeys 🙈
My husband & I feel blessed to be friends with you guys, your children are adorable. 😊
Aww thanks!
@@WONDERLUSTworld I hope we will see you guys again soon. 😊
Hello friends, I hope you guys are doing fine, I always love watching your videos. 😊 I hope to see you guys soon. 💜 Stay safe & healthy always. 💜🙏
Thanks! We're doing well, we're so glad you enjoy the videos.
You are welcome. 😊
There was a tragedy of a Pulau Ubin doggie called, Kopi O, rip tomb there.
Aww that’s sad, I just looked the story up.
Any durians?
Yes there are! Sometimes you can buy it be from the boat uncles. Smaller than other durians. We’ve found rambutans over there too.
remember there is wild durian tree out there, can pick them up if you bump into them.
We have seen others bringing them back but not spotted any ourselves. There is a road called Jalan durian there.
We love Pulau Ubin, got my bag snatched two trips ago, but this last time in September, we could get the the Wetlands walkway, it must have been under repair, there was a big gate on the road to it, (unless we were going the wrong way). Thank you.
Snatched by people or monkeys?! Maybe it was under repair.
must be monkey lar , the only bandits that is still around.
@@WONDERLUSTworld monkeys, grabbed it back, banging the " poor:" monkey against the bike, sorry, left out an important detail there!
I also v long nv go ...😂
Maybe it’s time to?
Hi guys... After 6-7 years in SG only Jonty still have the thick british accent amongst u guys considering his parents n him were born here. Was it deliberate? Did he teach in a international school or public
Hey, I think the children's accents have changed a lot with them being younger, their brains pick it up more. We also find when they learn a new word they seem to learn it in the accent it was taught to them in. So they have a mix of local and American sounding words now. It's quite interesting. We have a mix of international and local friends, we both work in an international school. Jonty's accent tends to become more local depending on who is he speaking with. He spent most of his childhood in the Uk so I guess that's the accent that has stuck.
@WONDERLUSTworld the kids n u too have kool accent, mix of british n SG n american😎
@@WONDERLUSTworld but weird thing is when we migrate to foreign countries, we suddenly talk in their accent in just 2-3years. My aunt, cousin n brother moved to goldcoast, holland n usa.. i guess they find its high class accent😅
My sister has been travelling for over 15 years now and spent alot time in Australia and has picked up that accent.
We’re noticing Milo’s is starting to change, also more depending on who he is spending time with too. He has a few American friends. Aspen’s was the first to noticeably change.
