Just avoid Lenovo’s IdeaPad range in general, instead of getting a brand new IdeaPad, get a 4 year old ThinkPad, at least the ThinkPad isn’t built out of used crisp packets

i have a (normal) thinkpad from that era a T500 (T9600, 8g, 1680:1050) a great laptop for most things - love the 16:10 and the old kb - but NOT for video editing

Good video. I like the focus on durability and bringing the old x series into the discussion. Still looking for a replacement to my x230 but don't like sealed battery, and how thin and dainty everything is now. Have an X1 carbon for work and am unimpressed by it. It's too apple; all show no go. x230 is a better design, just old now.

I use mine as a sleeper server. It runs homeassistant VM, letsencrypt docker for the DNS, and I put 2 big SSDs in there for file server, the NIC on it is only 1Gbps but it's solid. Not only is it running perfectly, I put it on a nice stand from amazon and it looks great. I also added some extra USB ports to it with the expansion port for a zigbee dongle and for when I want to expand the homeassistant connections. There's lots of CPU and RAM to run more. It's an insanely useful laptop. I also put in the extended battery for an inbuilt UPS with a useful duration. Cost me 50eu minus the upgrades which weren't expensive. Sits in the corner of my room looking pretty on its stand. I've not even upgrade the CPU, maxed out the USB ports or used the esata yet, it's more like a PC with a battery than a laptop. Also, T420 blaze it.

My 41 yr old ADHD Loves RePurposing "eWaste" LOL My Wife Hates it, my lil ladies Love it, We cut Stickers Retro Gamiing out on the Wifes Cricut, use them as Stencils. We tag the PC Case with Different Spray Paint Colors Half-Arsed, Once it Dries we Put the Stencils on the Case, Spray it all Black, then Remove the Stencils. Once the Girls are Satisfied, We Load it With a BATOCERA Image, and Donate it to a Local Family with Kiddos and not much.

Lenovo killed all the best Thinkpad stuff when it took over from IBM, namely the IPS screens, the 4:3 aspect ratio, and later, the most distinctive Thinkpad feature, the Ultranav keyboard. They stubbornly hanged on to crappy screens for years (presumably to save a couple dozen bucks on $1,000+ laptops), but eventually they had to bring IPS back. They also stubbornly hanged on to the 16:9 aspect ratio for over a decade. They bizarrely put a 16:9 screen on a nearly-two-grand retro, 25-year commemorative edition Thinkpad. Now they're using 16:10 on their latest-model laptops. What's next, 3:2, like some Chromebooks? Hopefully. I reckon eventually they'll be forced to bring back the superior Ultranav keyboards as well. If they don't, I have no intention of ever buying a laptop without an Ultranav keyboard., soI'll stick to Frankenpads.

Dell Latitude 7000s series is nice for finance and data analysis. Dell Precisions 7000s series is nice for extreme engineering. HP EliteBooks 840/845 series have been excellent business laptops. Although, they have motherboard issues when you adjust the RAM.

Well I think to buy the thinkpad t16 gen 2 but i see bad comments about the computer and my fear is choose this computer or other becsuse this is the best in everything and i decided with this or other

10:04 Hey, that model is one of my laptops! It is still shockingly useful in 2024, I did almost all of my python coding assignments on it. I also did some heavier tasks like GIS and gaming! Older games still work reasonably well on it! Browsing and TH-cam worked flawlessly as long as video playback was kept to 720P!
