Congrats on your incredible deal with the X13 and that interesting story of a few days of warranty remaining. I'll admit I'm a bit envious, but the most important thing is spreading the love for Thinkpads, like you've done. Loved this video review, complete with bits of humor and all!
Last December I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad Twist (2012).This is the first time I really like a laptop. I'm a school teacher and an I7 from 2012 and non upgradable 8gb of RAM is enough for me.
Thinkpads are still my favorite laptop line by far. My daily driver is a P16s which has an ethernet port, among other appreciated Thinkpad features, which is very helpful for networking.
I own a T14 thinkpad with I7 11 gen and I'm super happy with it, it's more than enough for my personal use and projects. I've maxed the ram to 48GB, it's a rocket! Nice video!
Newer thinkpads definitely took a nose dive to quality, in a vid that was just a few days ago on the channel "electronics repair school" by sorin, there was this thinkpad that has its mosfet peel off because it was soldered on by super glue. He was able to fix it by soldering it back on properly. Although, the same can be said for 90% of the laptop today even 95% for lenovo laptops.
that AI voice over is a little wonky , but it was great , i used it for my English assessment a while ago as my voice hadn't dropped . ive got a kitted out toshiba tecra 750DVD with 64mb of ram and the high end 233mhz pentium with mmx , only problem is that i dont have a clock battery. anyways , the camera needs a little more brightness, otherwise its great
I think you should have taken the "X1 Carbon" or the "X1 Nano", as you are talking about bussiness. The X13 is the cheap alternative to the real X1 series. I have both X1's, and i have had one X13. And the X13, is not the real deal. Especially the buildquality is lower then the X1. Personally i bought my first X1 2012, and have had many generations since. Currently using the gen 10, and my coworker has the gen 11.
I had a 10th gen carbon x1 about a year ago. I will say it definitely had nicer feeling cover and palm rest, and it did feel a bit better quality. Although I don't think the X13 is substantially worst, to the point where it feels like it will break apart easily at least compared to other cheap laptops like some chromebooks.. Does the X13 have a issues with falling apart that the X1 carbon does not? The carbon x1 line started in 2012 along side the X230, later the X290 was the last X2** in 2019, and I think the X13 was a continuation of that product line since the X1 carbon can't come with a smart card reader, and the X13 could. some businesses have employee smart cards to log into their computers. I think the X13 is probably made cheaper on purpose since companies might not be willing to pay extra for the more premium feel of the X1 carbon.
@@Duraputer You are right, the X13 is still better than a lot of other laptop's on the market. In my personal situation, i tried one X13 in between X1's, so then its more apparent i guess. I tried the X13 because of the AMD option that the X1 never has, and the last few years AMD cpu's are better, but the high end laptops still only use intel.
Older ThinkPads love to be repaired and modified. Some people even design custom motherboards for these older ThinkPads. Especially IBM ones.

Listening to an x13 audio demonstration through my x13 speakers.

nice presentation, love older thinkpad although it can get heavy when holding it in one arm (network tech in a switch rack situation).
Not so much if it's an Xseries, old or new.
2:41 that function key placement made video editing a pain when I tried to use it

After some years with different Thinkpads with classic keyboards I had to buy a mechanical keyboard with a trackpoint.
After the t480 is where things went downhill in terms of upgradability and modularity
AI voice what a bummer
Nice taste in AI voices tho
That's informative, interesting, and entertaining. Thank you.
I prefer the build of my T430 over my T480s.
ur content deserves more views

Better review than LGR does.

tf, 88$ for a 2020 x13? These retail for like 330$ used in my country in EU
your voice sounds bad ass
11:10 what version of Linux is this?
Wait I love my W520, but that's a downgrade! THE X201 HAD A COPPER HEATSINK?
The Maine problem is.....the price.
do you change the pitch of your voice in editing by any chance
the voice is AI
Are you Brian Butterfield?
You sound like Terry Tibbs.. Talk to me!
Glad it wasn't just me, was chuckling all the way through just waiting for him to say it 😂
Do you sell the laptops you repaired?
Less often than I should. I don't have any for sale now.
"and one woman" hahahaha
x201 is the best X ever
WHY do you talk like that ?
You sound like an angry Jason Statham. Relax and work on your speaking voice so you don't sound so angry :-)
I think that is just his resting voice... not everyone sounds like a pumpkin spice latte sipping soyboy
lol reading video descriptions is very hard I see
ew windows *clicks off*
