Why is it necessary to spell it all out? Is that for stupid people? Like really? I can't sit through this. Takes way too long to get to your point.
The clearest sign of hitchens losing this debate is when he tries to threaten the audience with social disapproval by their families, and who knows else, because it's being filmed.
Thank you
He really changed some minds in the crowd. You can feel it in the energy
You killed millions in the name on civilization and democracy.... sleep well wise man
"Their mission: to disarm Iraq of its (non-existent) WMDs"
Man they really roused the rabble with this one.
Searching for a Greek journalist in Whitehall may seem unusual, as it's unlikely to encounter Greek journalists in Britain criticizing the British government's actions in Cyprus and Greece. Conversely, British journalists have been known to critique Greek affairs in Cyprus and Greece. It is indeed bold for British individuals to visit Cyprus or Greece without acknowledging the historical tensions between these nations and Britain. Christopher Hitchens stands out as a British figure who candidly addressed British involvement in Cyprus and Greece, notably through his work on 'The Trial of Henry Kissinger' and Cyprus: Stranded in Time. The 1989 BBC documentary about the partition of Cyprus and its after-effects. Based on his 1984 book Hostage to History: Cyprus from the Ottomans to Kissinger. And I saw Mr. Galloway, question the British government regarding the presence of British forces in Cyprus Greece. Christopher Hitchens and Mr. Galloway are both exceptional public speakers, but I admire Mr. Galloway, also known as Lord Sir, even more for his bold stance before the US Senate..I would love hear Mr. Galloway, opinion about Christopher Hitchens and I would've loved to hear Christopher Hitchens opinion about Mr. Galloway, indeed. But nothing perfects. But I'm very happy and very grateful for both of them for speaking up for my family in Cyprus because the UK and US-Turkey relations suppress our voices.
Cracking jokes on the lives and destruction of a country-this is our modern day intellectual.
The Israeli lobby everyone
A head of state for the top superpower in the world, two prime ministers, two greatest parliamantry institutions in the west and thier officials, advisors, strategists, researchers. Two intelligence agencies, two great military powers, one of whom is the greatest in the world, and all their resources, got Iraq wrong. A few including this man got Iraq right, but he got it too right, which made it too absurd and heavy to face, how could all of those fools, all of them, got it so wrong, and only him that got it too right to be even true. Unbelievable.
You can pinpoint the moment Hitch lost this debate, and it was when he dismissed the change of stance from Colin Powell out of hand. Here is one of the biggest cheerleaders of the war in Iraq changing his opinion on the war that he called for, and Hitchens doesn't give a shit. He's locked into his beliefs about this war come hell or high water, and to hell with anyone who thinks he is wrong. It's chauvinist defiant garbage, and honestly I expect better from a person like Christopher.
The three parts of the soul seem reminiscent of the Trinity.
This is a moment to forget for Hitchens
Well, Galloway is a heck of an orator. But... he's WRONG. On top of that, he's using emotional manipulation and oratory skill to win his points - his DEBATE POINTS are full of holes. First, he's calling Hitchens out for having a change of opinion over the course of decades. Here's the thing, though. Show me a man or woman who has all the same beliefs at age 40 as they do at age 20, and I will show you a man or woman who DOES NOT THINK. On the other hand, show me a person whose opinion changes who will actually stand up and admit it, and I will show you a person of courage. Second, the Iraqi people did not CHOOSE the government they were living under. Running some process and calling it an election doesn't make it one. Saddam was a dictator, pure and simple. As Hitchens has laid out many times, Saddam had routinely violated all four of the tenets violating any one of which justifies stripping a nation of its sovereign independence in the international community. No - I admire Galloway's debating skill, but he is in the wrong on this issue.
When you become one with existence, instead of experiencing existing state of mind or existing as distinct entity within existence or reality is when you reach The One,is Self according to Jung...
Luminous light is Gnosis
I love Hitchens very much, but he was very uninformed about the situation in Iraq. It's the one thing I strongly disagreed with him on
Interesting…Israel satisfies those four sovereignty losing criteria. Must be antisemitic…
Mm
These two don't know Saddam was baited into a war with Kuwait because Kuwait was stealing Saddam's oil and Saddam went to the USA embassy and they told him they dont care. Saddam invaded Kuwait technically in the right, thinking the USA would not interfere. During Desert Storm Saddam fired Scud missiles into Isreal to bait them into the war which would have triggered the rest of the middle east into chaos. The USA kept Israel from retaliating and didn't want them involved. Im not defending Saddam's actions, just giving the truth

Never thought I would be opposing Hitchens anywhere. It's a shame but dollars speak. Not everyone can be a commie.
Ive always loved Hitch but he was so wrong here, as history shows the attempt to rid Afghanistan of the Taliban succeed in replacing them with the Taliban after 20 years. Iraq has never recovered from a war Israel wanted the west to fight for them. George Galloway masterfully won the debate. I am a huge fan of George as well
The 1916 rising in Ireland had very little support from the Irish public.
Wilson Jose Allen Linda Moore Ronald
Hitchens lost all credibility during Bush's war on terror. A so called anti-establishment scholar who sided with the neocons and the pro-war establishment, embarrassed by Galloway here.
i just watched one against this war i guess they asked him to argue from the opposite view point
Who is this professor?
Pierre Grimes.
Hitchens was a clever man. Calm and standing in the same room as george just i don't know how he remained calm.
The problem of the two lives sounds a lot like cain and able.
favouring war and spreading islamophobia is main stream jounalism in uk immagine the rest of the world being so openley racist against brits dont forget it was the empire were the sun doesnt set and still exporting hatred and racism despite the decline in any other export so it must be big brothers money thats making you dance for them .fno better philosophy than the one that pays the most
How is it phobia
18:45 Pretty sure this is where my cat spends most of her time, blissed-out little crackpot <3.
Hitchens - measured and intelligent. Galloway= uncontrolled shouting and generally yobbish behaviour.
They should have another debate now near twenty years later and see if opinions have changed from either man.
One of those men is dead. The other has got crazier with time.
Hitchens was always wrong
What rubbish...weapons of mass destruction... they needed to destabilize and loot. The idiots who would send their sons and daughters to the slaughter in the name of politicians propaganda 🙄
Mr Galloway is the BOSS !!! Bang on point.
Hitch was only human. He was wrong on this one, despite his beautiful mind.
Before the universe there was NADA …..so we don’t know - what we call chaos or formless = our ignorance . Even on a human scale no one can enter the mind of the artist but only by his masterpiece we can contemplate the quality . We may try and understand better by what is meant by “MADE OF IMAGE” REFLECTION - AS ABOVE SO BELOW - conjugation of OPPOSITES - as our creative faculty . ….before creation - THINKING MIND gives offspring to IDEA - INVENTIOn - MASTERPIECE !
Thank you for this great opening of my eye! Always interested in the agrapha dogmata of plato and this really helps the understand for Timaeus is not easy to read ! ❤
I love Hitchens on the topic of athiesm and religion, also on Palestine and Israel. But this one, no
I was in the audience in NYC for this
Lucky!
i wonder if anyone was paid to post this, and i wonder who wouldnt see this for what it is. i feel underestimated :( to be useful, this propaganda needs to be WAY more subtle. this has the opposite effect friend.
Hitchens really tarnished his legacy when he supported & justified the Iraq War, shame
It's incredibly sad that Hitchens passed before Galloway. Such a great man taken from us too soon, and such a sorry excuse surviving him. I'm very happy that Mr Galloway lost his seat in parliament in the 2024 general elections.
Hitchens as short sighted and wrong as his atheistic views.
😂😂😂
