    When i was 23 I came to the same conclusion Parmenides did and then found Parmendes and later this lecture. I'm very grateful this is available and often revisit it as custom born from everyday experience tempts my eyes to be aimless, my ears and tongue to be echoes. This reminds me that only reason can be the judge and that the heart when left to itself misses the road.

    I actually went into a trance when I first read Parmenides back in the 70s. It was late at night and I felt like I was floating above my couch. I put my book down and went to wash any sleep in my eyes out. I came back to the couch and picked up the Bible. The book seemed to open on its own, without my conscious control. It opened up to John 1:1. I totally freaked out and went to bed.

      Well, because John 1:1 is plagiarized from middle platonists, almost all of john that is not concurrent with with mark and mathew is plagiarized from greek thought. Infact, from st. augustin the christian philosophy was officially a watered down version of neo-platonism. And plato himself was producing a synthesis of parminedes, pythagoras and hericilitus.

    By definition there can only be one all-inclusive Absolute.
    It is the nature of the all-inclusive, Absolute One without a second to 'Serve' as the All in One in All Continuum of Being, that functions as a diversified unity of Infinite potential (Creative Intelligence), Eternally actualizing as a unified diversity or Uni-verse, for only Eternity can fully embrace Infinity.
    Since is not, is not, there is no 'is not' to provide a limit, therefore the One is Infinite. Because the One is Infinite, it functions as a diversified unity of potential (Creative Intelligence) for actualization.
    Since is, is, it cannot become is not. Therefore, the One is Eternal. Because the One is Eternal, it functions as a unified diversity or actualizing Uni-verse.
    Since the potential for actualization is Infinite, the actualization of potential is Eternal.
    We actualize our potential by employing awareness to learn from our experience, then employing what we learn to better dream our experience and experience our dream.
    4 Noble Truths:
    1. The one Source of All suffering is identification with the temporal.
    2. There is a way out of suffering.
    3. The way out of suffering is dis-identification with the temporal.
    Self-observation:
    Impartially observing the reactive self - negative reactive patterns - as inner objects of observation. This generates inner distance, thereby diminishing the impact of the reactive pattern long enough to remember one's Self.
    Self-remembering:
    Being aware of being aware holds in reserve the energy that usually goes from essence to the reactive pattern, preserving it for further development of essence.
    Without the energy stolen from essence, the reactive pattern collapses, it's influence neutralized and nullified.
    4. Free of identification with the temporal, awareness of the Infinite, Eternal omnipresence of the Absolute unity of Creative Intelligence underlying and permeating all relative diversity, spontaneously emerges.
    Being aware of being aware is unmodulated by the 5 senses, thus unfettered, which is the resonant frequency closest in alignment with the frequency of the all-inclusive Absolute where all things are possible (Wisdom and Understanding).
    My yoke of Wisdom is easy, and my burden of Understanding Light.
    Continuum of Being:
    Innermost: Spirit = Being aware of being aware - of That which is /That I am - Presence - Core Self.
    Midmost: Soul = Integrated Psyche (Heart, Mind, Will). Essential Self.
    Outermost: World body = magic (metaphorical) mirror reflection, biofeedback loop. Social Self.
    The way up is down, the way out is in.
    Longer, slower outbreath as by chanting or breathing out through pursed lips shifts the brain wave frequency from beta to alpha, then onto the alpha/theta dreamtime interface where we have conscious access to the subconscious Mind.
    Truthformation:
    I am a Creative Intelligence/Life/Presence, being aware of being aware of mindfully experiencing the activity of_____, at this moment.
    Since to seek Wisdom is the wisest thing that one can do, Wisdom is the principle thing. Therefore, get Wisdom, and with all thy getting, get Understanding.
    As the eye is a lamp unto the body, so is perspective to the Mind. Therefore, if your eye (perspective) on Life be single (all-inclusive), then your whole Being will be full of Life, and the Light of Wisdom and Understanding.
    The Light of Wisdom and Understanding dispels the darkness of ignorance and folly.
    Reality = That which is.
    Knowledge = That portion of Reality that is known experientially.
    Understanding = Knowing how to apply Knowledge.
    Wisdom = Competent application of Understanding.
    Unless you become as open and receptive as a little child to the Word of Truth that is ever faithful (loyal, true, isomorphic) to Reality (That which is), you shall in no wise enter the Kingdom of Gnosis.
    ...and a little child (beginner's Mind) shall lead them.
    Seek first the Kingdom of Pleasantness (Heaven), and all else shall be added unto you.
    The Kingdom of Pleasantness is within you and all around you. There is a super-abundance of Pleasantness in every leaf, every blade of grass, every pebble, every breath, every happy memory, etc. Collect them, enjoy and appreciate their value to yourself and others.
    Pleasantness is the Rose at the Heart of the Optimum.
    To one that has shall more be given.....
    Be still and silent, and know That which is/That I am, in contrast to what and who I am, and as that from which they arise and that to which they return.
    I am That I am = I am That which is.
    I = which
    Am = Is
    That which is/That I am.
    Daily Bread Meditation:
    1. Go within
    2. Take no thought for yesterday, today or tomorrow.
    3. Meditate day and night (dusk and dawn)
    4. On all things lovely and of good report.
    Let those with the eyes to see and ears to hear do so.
    United we stand.....
    Happy trails!
    Namaste.

    It's likely that Aristotle's reference to Parmenides' "hot and cold" comes from a fragment of the poem now lost.

    Physicists like Brian Greene and Max Tegmark argue that the so-called past and future exist. The Lorenz transformations seem to prove mathematically that you can relate different time frames to each other, as if different moments in time can co-exist.

    Since there is that which is, there is not that which is that is other than that which is, for if there was anything other, it would still be that which is, that we call other (is not), thus not other at all. Therefore, that which is, is all - inclusive, Absolute, the one without a second, who's center is everywhere and who's circumference is nowhere, the nature of which is to function as a diversified unity that actualizes as a unified diversity or Uni - verse, the one Absolute Being in which all relative beings live, move and have their being.
    1. Law of Identity - axiom - there is that which is.
    2. Law of non - contradiction - there is not that which is that is other than than that which is.
    3. Law of the excluded middle - therefore, that which is, is all - inclusive, thus Absolute.
    Hot and cold are the complementary poles of the continuum of temperature.
    Tree of Life = both/and logic
    Tree of Death = either/or logic.
    That which is nothing in particular is by definition everything in general (potential).
    What appears as mutually exclusive opposites, are in reality mutually inclusive, complementary poles of the same continuum.
    To be is to be that which is.
    We are a movement and a rest, not a counter movement.
    To not be expresses what that which is, is, in terms of what it is not. The Law of Identity, that which is whole is not fragmented.
    Not being cannot be experienced by being.
    Is, is.
    Not being cannot be other than being because to be other presupposes being. Therefore what appears as other than being - non being - is in reality what being is, expressed negatively in terms of what it is not. Being is all there can be.
    Naming it makes it seem real.
    Being is the one without a second. It has no opposite. To be nothing is still to be something because named, if in name only. What appears as opposites then, are in reality the poles of a continuum, the continuum of being, the poles of which are innermost and outermost. It is the midmost of the continuum that converts them into each other, experience into awareness (learning) and awareness into experience (actualizing).
    The all is the all in one in all.

  • @charlesmartel7502
    @charlesmartel7502 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    In the Fairbanks translation, Parmenides writes "the all is continuous." Like Aristotle, he uses the word "all," which indicates an "all" made of parts. We would not say of some One thing, "It is ALL there," unless it were comprised of parts, one or more of which might be missing. Parmenides also uses the word "whole," which again indicates parts. Why say "whole" if there are no parts? And then there is the fact that this is a poem, an allegory. Why take it literally? Why not instead consider it one possible image of reality upon which to meditate?
