Tea Or Tisane - Which Are You Drinking?
I do want those butterfly plates, cups, and teapot
Isn't it a lovely pattern? It's also used on the cover of the May/June issue of TeaTime Magazine. If you're interested, it's called Vista Alegre's Butterfly Parade by Christian LeCroix.
I love a cream tea. In my opinion scones are the centerpiece of afternoon tea. I would have been VERY disappointed with the toast point substitution.
I love Lucy Worsley; definitely will look for her book. Thank you ❤️ ☕️. New to your channel, very fun. 😊
Interesting.... been away from the Keller area for twelve years now. But back in the day - Cinnamon Sticks Tea Room in Keller was The place to go and Cinnamon Sticks was Quirky, Sweet and Charming. This place? I hope they do well, but.....I loved Cinnamon Sticks. Thank you for the video.
I give that place a thumbs down.
I think my aunt would have loved your channel, graciousness and objectivity. You sincerely love the topic. - I come from a fine dining background and I was disappointed you paid $70+ individually for this. Sincerely, the sandwiches weren't presentable, but rather messy and crumbly. Not cut straight. The eggs had oxidized, indicating they were prepped and sat in refrigeration overnight exposed to air. The tea? Please at least brew the tea correctly for a $70 price tag. ...sigh, and we all know about the missing scones...
Yes, it was disappointing. Thank you for watching! ☺✨
Hope you’ll try the Sunday tea service at Mirador in downtown Dallas.
hmm, not only did they short you on the scones, but their website lists a 4th tea sandwich of smoked salmon. the eggs look like they were made last week.
@@jessicastevens5782 ah, the lack of smoked salmon sandwiches was actually not entirely their fault. Neither I nor ATF eat salmon. When I made the reservation weeks ago, I did let them know we would need a substitution. Unfortunately, they apparently didn’t get the message and so they had to pull the smoked salmon sandwiches from the tray after we got there.
Chocolate Secrets may have been good but couldn't compare to tea at YOUR house. You're the best!!!
@@carolyngreen2244 aww, thanks Doll! ✨😘
This looks great 😊
Hello Sonya, I always enjoy your videos. I live in New Jersey about 10 minutes from the ocean central Jersey right over the Pine barons. I did not know it was afternoon tea week. I will have to look into that. Maybe I could bring my mother all the necessities of afternoon, tea and because even though it’s very hot, she won’t turn her air conditioner on. I think we might have iced tea instead of hot tea.😂😅😅😂 I hope your weather is going well in and around Dallas. Here we had an awful lot of rain from that last hurricane but other than that, it’s turning out to be a wonderful summer. Have you considered for tea week just a short note to tell us what you did on each day. Kathy ❤
@@kathybrandt6060 excellent idea!
Did you get a steak 🥩 with that $75? Love the chocolate 🍫 though.
Hi Sonya, Oh my, what a huge disappointment! Thankfully, everything else was good, but still, so very disappointing. I too would give it another try as long as I knew I would be served scones. Thanks for the review and taking us along.
*you have emil ?*
*Hello ma'am, i'm professional thumbnail designer on fiver, i can design your thumbnails more unique in 2 hour*
An attempt was made. No scones tho; that's a bit cheeky, & $75 is a bit too spendy... for no scones, & teabags.
No scones? I think I'll pass until they fix that. Have had their chocolates though, and they are delicious😊
As an English person who serves afternoon tea as a job, this is definitely not done in "the thoroughly English tradition". Totally appreciate their effort though! It still looks lovely. Always thrilled to see one of your videos come up
Ma'am, you were robbed. I've been to the UK. For $75 you should get a proper assortment of sammies, cakes, and scones on your cake stand. I don't have an issue with the inside of the sammies, as the Brits do experiment a bit, but no scones is offensive. And the tea itself? It should have been high-quality loose leaf made and poured by your wait staff. That said, it looks like it was still a pleasant experience, which is what tea is about. 🫖🍵🙂
$75 plus gratuity??? I believe I’ll pass.
No scones???!!! No thanks. The chocolate truffles looked very nice, but I wouldn't call the rest an afternoon tea. Sandwiches not arranged in the Maw Broon approved way. 😁😁Toast is more something you'd have for breakfast, and with orange marmalade not jam. I won't be putting it on my 'Places to visit' list. Seems very expensive to me too. I don't think I'll have room for scones this week. I've got two different types of banana bread to get through and my belt is objecting already.
No room for scones? Surely that can’t be! Banana bread sounds yummy, though. 😉✨
Have you had afternoon tea at Chocolate Secrets? Where is your favorite place for afternoon tea? Let me know in the comments below.
The chocolates looked delicious. But definitely it was not a traditional English tea. ❤
❤🤍💙 these videos!
You can valet park if you want to but the is very nice parking garage across the street from Bass Hall that is free most of the time. About a five minute walk to the Ashton.
Not sure how your channel showed up in my TH-cam feed, but I’m so happy it did! If you ever venture back to Fort Worth, will you visit the Rose Tea Room or Secret Garden Tea Room? They are not fancy places(both are inside antique malls) but it could be fun to try and much cheaper than the other places you’ve reviewed 😊 I live in FW and take my mom and daughter for a fun girls outing. Also, we would gladly be your ATFs if you visit this side of town ❤
@@amandawilliams677 Thank you for the kind words and suggestions! I DO have both those tearooms on my list of places to visit. I do want to try a variety of locations as well as price points. Afternoon Tea can be quite expensive but I know there are more affordable options out there. Everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy it! I have a review coming up that is of a place in Dallas, but after that, we’ll need more of a mid-cities and Fort Worth location again. So thank you for the reminder! And thank you so much for watching. 😊✨
I would just liked the scones, tarts, and tea😊 The other stuff didn't look so appealing.
Firstly, although you may have tea however you wish, never use milk in Earl Grey. It should be taken with lemon. Secondly, when eating scones, break it in half & then bite sized before you put the cream & jam on. Depending upon where you are, it varies which is spread on first.
@@ceciliaburris4059 oh Earl Grey is lovely with milk. That is how I always have it and prefer it. Scones should absolutely be broken in half and not sliced, IF they are made where they can be. If they don’t rise enough and are too flat or dry, an attempt at forcing them in half will result in a crumbly disaster! I’m afraid practicality must win out over traditional techniques in this case. Thank you for watching! ✨😉
I would give anything to have clotted cream ice cream again.
@@ann-mariemeyers9978 Oh to be in Cornwall again. ✨😊

I have had high tea at the Dallas Arboretum and found it wonderful. Sunday lunch/brunch is a much better choice at Nieman Marcus.
loved this! I think I will take my daughter!
Loved the Victoria sandwich cake. Will def have to give this a try!!!
To me $70 with a 20% gratuity added is rather expensive considering you had to ask for a tea warm-up, there was essentially one teaspoon of clotted cream, and one teaspoon of jam. (if I’m being generous, I would call it a tablespoon each.) Also, there were no tea sandwiches really to speak of. I went to tea at the Willard in Washington DC this summer in June and including champagne, it was only $110. They did not add their own gratuity either I may add. To be positive, this did look like a nice tea. But, also considering the lack of ambience, I think they are very pricey,

Thank you for the information about NM at Northpark. I’m curious to know if you’ve had tea at The French Room inside The Adolphus Hotel. We are quite particular about our afternoon tea and have resigned ourselves to hosting at home.
@@user-sq5kc5bz2v I have indeed, had tea at the Adolphus. But it was almost two years ago, so I can’t give a current assessment. It was also their holiday tea which I imagine is a bit different from their everyday offerings. Like you, I am also very particular about afternoon tea. I am still in search of the perfect scone! Such beautiful china!
You are a very delightful person to preesent this video.
Good morning, Sonya The cake looks wonderful. I have never heard of a recipe where you gear everything to the eggs I will have to give that a try. I make jams and jellies from time to time. I also prefer my raspberry or blackberry jam to have no seeds. There is a small farm market down The street from where I live and they got the raspberries from a local grower. I just happen to be walking in as he was making his delivery of the raspberries that day. I asked how many raspberries did she have and how much they were and she told me and I bought all of them and the look on the man’s face who would just sold them to that woman was priceless. He said what are you going to do with all of those raspberries and I told him I was making seedless jam that day. And he said you’re gonna use them all and I said yes I have a large family and they like my jam. I said I’ll leave him a container of jam here the next time I come in and he thanked me. The next week I brought in my pint of jam for the grower, and I was lucky enough to bump into him when he was delivering more raspberries. He thanked me for the jam and I bought all the raspberries again he said what are you doing with those and I said I’m making jam with the seeds. The both of them the farm owner and the grower just kind of giggled at me. I think that year I made six varieties of jam and used over 100 canning jars by the time I finished with all of them. I don’t make that much jam anymore, everybody is trying to watch their weight. Sorry, I kind of went out there a little far on the raspberry jam. This time of the year, my asthma is very bad and I have to use the medicine that the doctor prescribed. And the medication for my asthma makes me feel like I’ve had way too much caffeine. So please excuse my very long post. I was texting a friend back-and-forth the other day and he said asthma is bad and I said yes why and he says well you write very, very fast when your asthma is bad, I just look at it this way I get some cleaning done when my asthma is bad. I look forward to trying that cake. I hope you have a nice week, and I hope the temperatures have gotten better for you in Texas. They have gotten much better here in New Jersey.
@@kathybrandt6060 oh I hope you do try the cake, Kathy, it’s so good! And it would be especially yummy with your homemade jam! (I enjoyed your story about it!) ✨😁
Thank you, you have inspired me to make another Victoria Sandwich. I definitely prefer whipped cream with it, but that can be served on the side.
I love your channel Sonya. But having to wait 2 weeks for a 15 min or even a 5 or 6 min vlog. Seriously. You have no competition. No one is doing this. Only you and you’re delightful. Have you made a Victoria Sandwich cake? Do you prefer it with jam and cream in the middle or just jam? Let me know in the comments below, how you like your cake?
@sonyavs455 Yes I have but I don't measure the eggs so precisely. The recipe in the side of the sugar packet didn't mention egg weight. I used jam and failed clotted cream. (The clotted cream didn't clot). I never thought of making them in a square cake tin. I shall try that next time. My recipe said to make two thin cakes and sandwich them together. As I'm not very good at cutting sponge cakes in half that method suits me. Mine tend to come out thick on one side and very thin on the other. The Victoria Sandwich was my favourite cake until I made a Madeira Cake which has knocked it off the top spot. 😁 One of my recipe books explains the difference between using granulated and caster sugar, but can I find which book it's in? Nope. 😝
@@Poliss95 I’ll have to check out the Madeira cake. I’ve long heard of it, but never tried one!
Jam and cream definitely. It’s my favourite cake and I love to make it.
I love the Victoria Sponge! Thanks so much for the recipe!
Beautiful! I have struggled getting this cake just right in the past. I can’t wait to try it with your directions. That china is the same pattern my mother had. Thank you for that wonderful memory.
It looks absolutely delicious! Thank you for the recipe. And the history lesson. It is nice to hear the origin of the cake.❤
Which brand of heavy cream did you use? It seems very thick, I can’t find any cream in the US as rich as that. Alexandrea farm has good 40% butterfat cream but in the west coast only.
I just used the store brand of heavy whipping cream, in this case it came from Kroger. It still doesn't have enough fat though, which is why I add the butter to it. I hope you'll try it!
@@sonyavs455 your method seems amazing I’m gonna try it today actually. It looks exactly like the real clotted cream I had in London.
@@surfhawaiiwaves let me know how it turns out!
If the sandwiches were dry, that would suggest they were made way in advance and left to sit awhile. Even if refrigerated and covered, bread dries out quickly which is my pet peeve in any restaurant. I know they charge upwards of 100 pounds in the UK for afternoon tea at high end hotels but since afternoon tea here is not that popular, $45 for dry bread sandwiches and a few desserts was a little steep. I rather have a big steak for that money. Anyway, thanks for the video.
tea bags? how American.
@@pwp8737 yes, I must say I was so surprised when having a lovely afternoon tea at a hotel near Buckingham Palace in London last year. They served tea in tea bags! The ‘convenience’ won over taste, I guess.
