Have you been to PaTTea Lou's? What is the one thing you look for in a tearoom? Do you have a favorite place for tea where you live? Let me know in the comments below!
I've never had a tea friend. Friends who drink the tea I serve, but not someone who would enjoy it the way you and I do. There's a small tea room near Kerrville, Texas that I hope to visit some day, but sans transportation or an ATF, that may be a while, sadly. 😔 Your tea and scones look ever so scrumptious. I do wish afternoon tea was more affordable; at those prices, I'll stay home where I know the tea is top tier and mayhaps learn to make clotted cream.
Somehow this video popped up on my TH-cam feed and I’m so glad it did! I live in the metroplex and also love afternoon tea. I’m off to binge watch your other videos. I’d love to find some new tea rooms. PaTTea Lou’s was just okay for me. I was also underwhelmed by the jam and clotted cream. There was no where near enough.
Very happy you have a British-style tearoom in your area, many of ours closed down during the pandemic. We do have some great new GongFu (Chinese style) tearooms.
In California LA, I have two afternoon tea favorites, which I can never afford but only on special occasions, and if you're ever in Southern CA, I highly recommend: 1. Hotel Bel Air, which is wildly expensive, $145.00 but a gorgeous garden setting; and, 2. The Rose Garden Tearoom at The Huntington, Pasadena CA, which is also expensive at about $110.00, but includes admission to the sprawling Rose Garden, and very stunning. You are so lucky to have such tasty and affordable choices in Texas !!
Thank you for tea reviews! If you need another ATF, I'd love to show you Lavendou tea in Plano, TX. I always ask for extra scones because they make them small.
@@ShadowSiren88 oh I have had tea at Lavendou! Although, admittedly, it was several years ago, so it’s on my list to go back. From what I remember, it was lovely. Good idea for you to ask for extra scones , though! 😉✨
Interesting.... been away from the Keller area for twelve years now. But back in the day - Cinnamon Sticks Tea Room in Keller was The place to go and Cinnamon Sticks was Quirky, Sweet and Charming. This place? I hope they do well, but.....I loved Cinnamon Sticks. Thank you for the video.
That tea room looks wonderful. I was trying to read all the different tees that they had available. I didn’t know there were that many tees in the world. Ha ha ha but thank you again for taking us along.
As soon as I saw that white chocolate I thought “looks like Leonidas” and in the next shot there was the name. They have stores absolutely everywhere in Belgium and not crazy expensive when bought there. I used to treat myself to a small “ballotin” as often as possible. You can buy them online from the U.K. but pricey that way so only an occasional treat. Delicious choccies though!
I just found your channel and ❤❤❤. Moved to DFW a few years ago and miss the tea rooms I used to frequent. Have you had tea at the DeGolyer restaurant at the Dallas Arboretum? It's $62 with soup, sandwiches, scones (with clotted cream), and desserts. Tea selection is limited, but overall it's been really enjoyable. The price is a bargain because it includes admission to the arboretum, parking, and gratuity.
Indeed, I have been to the DeGolyer a few times! It has been a while, so I need to go again for a fresh review. Lovely setting. ☺Thanks for watching -and welcome!
To me $70 with a 20% gratuity added is rather expensive considering you had to ask for a tea warm-up, there was essentially one teaspoon of clotted cream, and one teaspoon of jam. (if I’m being generous, I would call it a tablespoon each.) Also, there were no tea sandwiches really to speak of. I went to tea at the Willard in Washington DC this summer in June and including champagne, it was only $110. They did not add their own gratuity either I may add. To be positive, this did look like a nice tea. But, also considering the lack of ambience, I think they are very pricey,
Hello! I’m a Dallas area harpist, and I would love to play harp for afternoon tea someplace like I used to in Southern California. Any ideas about teahouses that need a harpist?
@@moiragreyland what a lovely idea! I would think some of the hotels that offer tea, might be intrigued: the Adolphus, the Joule, and the Crescent - all in Dallas - offer afternoon tea. The Adolphus has had a pianist but I don’t know if that is still the case. There is also now a Crescent Hotel in Fort Worth but I don’t whether they offer tea. Good luck!
The price is for everything brought to the table: the scones, the tea, and the food tower. If you can’t finish it, they will give you a to-go box to take food items home. 😊✨
Why did you both have to pay almost $70 each? You only got one food tower to share. Their website says "Each Tower is designed to serve one guest. " If you both paid the $55 plus gratuity then shouldn't you have gotten 2 food towers?
It’s less about the number of towers, and more about how the food on them. For convenience of space, food for two was put on one tower. That also happened because we each ordered the same tower, the Alice Tower. Had it been only me, I would have gotten one tower, but less food. Had we ordered two different towers, I suspect we might have each gotten a small one with our specific foods. 😊✨
Firstly, although you may have tea however you wish, never use milk in Earl Grey. It should be taken with lemon. Secondly, when eating scones, break it in half & then bite sized before you put the cream & jam on. Depending upon where you are, it varies which is spread on first.
@@ceciliaburris4059 oh Earl Grey is lovely with milk. That is how I always have it and prefer it. Scones should absolutely be broken in half and not sliced, IF they are made where they can be. If they don’t rise enough and are too flat or dry, an attempt at forcing them in half will result in a crumbly disaster! I’m afraid practicality must win out over traditional techniques in this case. Thank you for watching! ✨😉
@sonyavs455 The selection looks so much better than the last tea room you visited Sonya, although they were very stingy with the clotted cream and jam. Just about enough for one scone I'd say. The names of the teas reminded me that I once toyed with the idea of opening tearooms in Iowa called 'The Mad Hatters'. The idea was very short lived. What do I look for in a tearoom? I have a very particular idea of what a great tearoom should look like which is based on one that I visited years ago. (Sadly it no longer exists). The first thing is the view. I like a tearoom situated on the first floor, (second floor in the US) with a view out to sea. (The first floor because the view won't be interrupted by passers by). The window panes should be quite small with wooden frames. The tables and chairs should me made of wood. The staff should be neatly dressed in black and white. There should be two tablecloths, one at right angles to the other. I would like cloth doilies with pretty patterns. Paper doilies if you must. A four tier tower with a good selection of sandwiches, scones and pastries, with lots and lots of jam and clotted cream. Maybe some lemon curd. The tea should be so strong that a teaspoon will stand up in it on its own. ☕😁 I could go on and on. 😂 Oh, and no expectation of tipping. That should be left entirely up to the customer and only if they feel they've had a spectacular time. The East India Company Book of Tea. p.15. You may be wondering why Gladstone kept his tea in a hot water bottle? In those days they were made of stone. Tea would certainly taste very odd coming from a modern hot water bottle made of rubber. 🤣 Looking forward to your next video already. P.S. Has Maw Broon's book of Afternoon Tea arrived yet?
Your idea of a tearoom sounds lovely! I would definitely go to yours. 😁 And yes, this one has great potential- I do hope it’s successful. Oh yes, Maw Broon’s book of Afternoon Tea has indeed arrived and I am thoroughly enjoying it! I have laughed quite a bit. It’s a real treasure. I wish I had a ATF.
I know! My ATF moved to another state 😢. I have convinced a few friends to go for special occasions, but I miss an any time ATF.

The tea was $55 per person?
This particular one, was. There are other choices that are both more and less expensive, on the menu.
Maybe ask if you can get another serving of clotted cream or ask if it’s an extra charge too
