- Two of the most traditional sandwiches associated with English afternoon tea, are the iconic cucumber sandwich and the egg salad sandwich. They are so good and very easy to make. I’ll show you how. One of them contains a special ingredient enjoyed by the late Queen Elizabeth II!
What is your favorite tea sandwich? Let me know in the comments. And please join me in a cup of tea and a finger sandwich - or two!

I love that you explain not only the "how", but the "why". Thank you!
Thank you!
My weekends I have a pot of tea, and have always wanted to make some nice sandwiches with it. And you showed how to make clotted cream! Your channel is wonderful and gives exactly what I’m looking for!
Nice video and lovely to see you enjoying our English traditions. You’re right, we always butter the bread before making our sandwiches. Possibly because we don’t use mayonnaise in quite the same way here as you do in the U.S so the butter gives us the necessary moisture that you might rely on the mayo or mustard for.
I Love the butter, TIP! T.Y.!
I like the tea sandwiches and I'm surprised that you didn't do ham or cheese and chutney. One thing I wanted to mention is that if you are invited to tea, don't stir your tea in a circle. It's easier to have it spill over the top that way. Instead, stir in a north/south direction. It's almost impossible for it to spill over the top of the cup.
Lovely
Wonderful information! Can't wait to try these recipes out!
I like a little mustard mixed in with the egg salad for additional flavour.
Lovely! Thanks!
This was lovely.
Thank you for lovely video.
Thanks for posting! love the themed apron!
So fun! I think this is a lovely idea to introduce this fall. I would love to see your tea pots, cups and saucers.
I do have quite a few! 😁✨
Love your content.
Thank you so much for the recipes and advice. I will be having a tea in a few weeks and was trying to decide which sandwiches to make, you made that decision easy for me! I too like celery seed in the egg salad and fresh dill on the cucumber sandwich. I haven't used mint leaves yet, however if I can find it fresh, I will give it a try. Your channel is such a pleasure, thanks again!
Have a wonderful afternoon tea!
Beautifully done! Thank you for sharing.
Expertly made. No one wants a soggy sandwich. You must have noticed me raise my eyebrow when you said 'Erb' instead of 'Herb'. 😁
I never cut the crusts from bread. They're the best bits. If I'm feeling really posh I cut the sandwiches into little triangle shapes.
I have never seen bread like that before.
Oh those crusts never go to waste. Chef’s treat! 😉
I never knew about the mint in the sandwich. I would think, putting the cucumber on a paper towel would make it dry, but I tried it and you’re right it makes it so much nicer your recipe turned out to be just a lovely little sandwich. Thank you I’m really am enjoying your channel very much. I wish you the best of luck with it. Kathy.
Thank you very much!
I wanted to go for afternoon tea while i was in Victoria BC at the famous Empress...some places are quite expensive.
They are, indeed. Afternoon Tea has a lot of elements, and while I can see paying a bit more when so much creativity, effort, (and food!) is put into it, there are some places that charge a bit too much for what you get.
New subbie here…pleased to meet you.
What a great channel. So happy I found you.
So glad you’re here! Thank you.
I like that you are American
How inviting! 🤎
I love that swirl bread- I’ll have to go looking for it next time I’m making tea sandwiches!
Pepperidge Farm deli swirl. It’s quite tasty and so pretty, isn’t it?
My parents generation always buttered at least one side of the bread, on the other side mayo or miracle whip.
Royal Albert china, I believe. We have the very same.
Egg is my favourie finger sandwich. Blackberry jam & cream cheese is my guilty pleasure 🫖💜
Ooh, that does sound yummy!
Thank YOU for this video! I had NO idea to butter the bread before making the sandwich. You provide some wonderful education on something I don't know much about! Also, your table, with the goodies and cute tea pot, looks so welcoming. No doubt many memories have been made around that table. 🐱
Indeed they have! ✨❤️ Thank you!
