Does brewing tea in a teapot give you pause because you're unsure of how much tea to use? Do you have a teapot on the shelf you avoid using? Let me know in the comments below!
After all this talk about teapots an experience I had about 25 yrs ago came to mind .. I would like to share :) ok I spent 40 some yrs as a journeyman rigger, crane op and scaffolder in Australian mining and construction, about 9:00 one Friday night a fellow rang from a provincial city here in Queensland, he wanted me to be able to be there for a Monday morning start .. I said sure, I always had a bag packed that had my tools some toiletries and changes of clothes, as well as an unbreakable cup and a jar of loose leaf tea a plunger and tea bags. So I got into my truck and drove thru the night .. I had barely left the city when a feeling came over me that I had forgotten to bring my teapot .. I had a good teapot previously when the handle went out about 40 yrs ago I deep 6'd it and purchased another one, I probly had one cup of tea before it went onto the shelf and stayed there .. the feeling persisted that I had forgotten to bring my teapot .. I arrived at my destination and after booking into a trailer park headed down to the local 7/11 to do a little shopping, whereas the mind voice was still on with "get a teapot." In the 7/11 there was a very nice Chinese Blue Dragon teapot I bought it and everything was hunky dory .. when I got back to the van it dawned on me that I never did need a tp .. I had all the tea making gear I would ever need .. what compelled me to obtain this item I will never know, despite it is a beautiful artifact it has a very limited capacity and is only good for one cup really .. it occupies a prominent place on my kitchen mantle and looks good however I rarely use it .. cheers from Brisbane Au.
I do love my tea! All my friends think it’s funny because I am the country tom boy that can’t wait to actually have a tea party or just have people over for tea. Thank You for these videos. Getting all my accoutrements ready to do just that.
Such a chique little channel on a niche little theme! I feel like I'm in royal company everytime I click on your video, Ma'am. I drink tea solely, the one you brew on a stove. Learned what I might do with a teapot that's been in the showcase right from when I was a child. Lotsa love. Much regards.
I've been drinking tea all my 60 years. It's lovely to get up in the morning and choose one of the many varieties I have stored in decorative tins, and one of many teapots. Measurements vary depending on the variety/strength of tea leaves, but I've become adept at eyeballing how much I need. One nice thing about making too much hot tea is that it's ever so lovely iced.
Oh what a great idea! I'm going to to use your idea and label the cup size on the bottom of each of my tea pots as well. Thanks again, Sonya for more fantastic information to help use have the perfect, Spot of Tea! :)
Gosh! It must be 40 years since I made tea in a teapot. It used to be second nature to me, but now I have to think hard about how I did it. It came so naturally that I never even thought about how much tea I put in the pot. It was just an autonomic function. 😁 I'll try to remember the equipment and procedure. We had a large aluminium, or maybe steel, kettle. An ordinary chrome plated teapot . Nothing special. We always used Brooke Bond Dividend Tea. The tea was in a metal caddy which always had a caddy spoon in it. The spoon was quite wide and shallow, not like yours. The cups were ordinary teacups from Woolworth, which I have found cost 2/9d. (Two shillings and ninepence, which works out to about 15 cents), 😁😁 We filled the kettle on the gas stove to boil the water. Put X amount of tea in the pot and poured boiling water on it to X level. Give the tea a stir with a teaspoon. Let it brew for X minutes, then pour it into the teacup. We never used a tea strainer. (How can you tell your fortune if there were no tealeaves left in the cup?) 🔮😂I had a sweet tooth, so used three teaspoons of sugar and powdered Marvel milk. We used to use real milk but my mother had a big argument with the milkman about whether she had paid the bill or not, so he got cancelled. lol When the level of the tea in the teapot got low and had become extremely strong, we topped it up with boiling water. My Scottish grandmother made tea properly. She always used a standard china teapot and warmed the pot before pouring the boiling water into it. I have a teapot tucked away in a cupboard and I have a globe of loose leaf tea. I knew I had a tea cosy somewhere but long searches in the cupboards produced zero results. That was until last week when I found it hanging on the back of my kitchen door next to my aprons. I'm always using my aprons so how I never saw the tea cosy which is hanging right next to them is a complete mystery to me. 🙄🙃
Is a scoop, one teaspoon of tea? I wondered how much tea goes into a tea pot and I am glad I turned in to you show this morning. You make it so interesting!!!

All of your teapots are quite beautiful. My favorite was the one that was teal.

That's a great story! Sometimes, teapots 'call' us. Yours needed you. Cheers!

That sounds lovely!
Excellent thank you, my brown betty tea pot has been on the shelf too long.
Thank you. I love tea and I really like your approach.

Oh yes, do use that teapot! And thank you for watching. 🙂

Yes, I agree! Poured over ice is a great way to ‘save’ a favorite tea. ✨😊

It should really help!

What a wonderful memory. I could ‘see’ all you described! ✨😉

Yes, usually a scoop is equal to a teaspoon. Thanks for watching! ✨😊
@sonyavs455 Sainsbury are warning of a black tea shortage in the UK.
Oh no! That will result in riots, won’t it!
