Do Brain Games Work? Pivot The Question Like This And Enjoy Better Memory Improvement That Lasts

Do brain games work? It's a question I get asked all the time. Especially from the kinds of polymathic people we discussed in the previous episode: th-cam.com/video/We0idHm3QlA/w-d-xo.html I believe we need to pivot the question and look carefully at the research in ways that many corporations know most people won't. Recently two things happened. First, someone told me... "You're not a polymath!" Second, someone asked... "Could you say more about the traits that go into being a polymath?" what im interested about is, how to memories concrete studies or for university Scripts which sometimes need to be in mind word by word. For me it seems to work, to keep that in mind by a memory palace but if i have to save every concrete "dont know the english word" term in connection with a image to build a sentence, i would ne need a room for every sentence. If you got 1200 pages of comprimised script for medical sports and deseases it seems complicated for me. Do you have any advices?

    • @magneticmemorymethodpodcast
      @magneticmemorymethodpodcast หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for this. It will always seem to complicated for most people who never get started. Part of the simplicity comes from simply doing and not turning it into a numbers game. The reason it will get easier boils down to compounding. Once you lay down a series of core points, you'll be able to compound onto those points more information. This is especially true in medicine where prefixes and suffixes play so many key roles. Ultimately, if you feel drawn to using the Memory Palace technique, that is the best advice I can give: Get into it for the joy of it rather than trying to squeeze a specific outcome from it. The outcome will be positive even if your adventure with it isn't exactly like anyone else's. Does this way of looking at things make sense and help you out?

      @@magneticmemorymethodpodcast Thank you for your insightful response. I have been actively practicing the Memory Palace technique for a week now and am excited about the journey ahead. Could you please advise on the frequency of repetitions for my Memory Palaces in terms of spaced repetition? Additionally, while it is indeed a journey, I wonder how many terms a beginner should aim to memorize daily, considering a fixed maximum learning time. Currently, I manage about 50 to 100 terms per day, with each location storing multiple data points. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated. It seems after a learning period of time my brain is completly exhausted ^^

    • @magneticmemorymethodpodcast
      @magneticmemorymethodpodcast หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's not necessarily a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all answer to how much you need to repeat information in your Memory Palaces. But if you want to reduce it to the absolute minimum, check out my full video on spaced repetition, which includes the most important ins-and-outs I'm aware of for maximum success: th-cam.com/video/2CthE_Napjg/w-d-xo.html You'll probably also benefit from my analysis of active recall, which unfortunately many people do not cover as completely as they could. They usually miss the two most important parts, which I have included here: th-cam.com/video/Um9S6TDVP0Y/w-d-xo.html In terms of daily memorization, I would suggest 10 pieces of info as a bare minimum. But generally, I think it's important "magical numbers" that someone might provide, no matter how expert they are. You need to work out what daily amounts help you legitimately reach your goals. If you can memorize and recall 50-100 words per day, fantastic. I would only suggest that less can and often is more and there are ways to make amazing progress without exhausting yourself. This is generally the approach of the Magnetic Memory Method: using accelerated learning techniques in ways that create more energy than they burn.

    how long till you get to reuse the place you used for memory palace once? because it's hard to forget what you memorized at that location

    • @magneticmemorymethodpodcast
      @magneticmemorymethodpodcast หลายเดือนก่อน

      This will depend on the individual and the nature of the information. Personally, I have specific criteria and reasons for when I reuse Memory Palaces. I also describe the way I re-used one Memory Palace three times, such as for my TEDx Talk and two different long-form Sanskrit pieces. It's all described in the MMM Masterclass and is not a solution I've seen anywhere else before. Using this method, you don't have to wait to reuse the Memory Palace at all.
