  • Aidan Helfant loves the Memory Palace technique, and...
    He also uses Obsidian in some next level ways.
    Even though I don't use software like this myself, I always love learning from people who do and it was great to chat with Aidan about his experiences combining software and mnemonics.
    Not just for learning. Also content creation.
    And good content too. Just check out his blog:

    Obsidian with chat gpt alongside magnetic memory practices is a game changer

      Any specific ways that you're using it?

      @@magneticmemorymethodpodcast not yet, but I see it coming together. So, I should say "should" be a game changer. Id like to memorize the context of how different pieces of information compare/contrasts to other concepts, the genus or larger category it falls under,and the general applications for it/ why it's important. The thinking is that i can integrate the context into something that I can account for so that even my schema can be accounted for to some degree.

      Sounds like a great way to approach things. You might want to look into some of the categorical possibilities offered by ars combinatoria and memory wheels as well.
      There's some info about that here if you're interested:

    This video explained a lot about semiotics to me. I now know. I was somewhat obsessed with learning everything and anything using mnemonics, but a lot of the content isnt useful for me and doesnt serve me a lot of value. Examples being remembering space, planets, diameters radius distance etc. Also remembering time and seconds in time and Geometry. So, now rather than making myself obsessive over knowledge and memory, ill focus on studying Spanish. While slowly adding things im simply interested in. Like the meaning of Dia in Greek etc. Being obsessed can teach you a lot, but hinders you from reaching the goals you want.

      The art of memory is indeed a tool best reserved for the information that matters.

    What an eloquent young man, wise beyond his years. At 67 years young I agree with him that I look at the internet as a separate entity albeit a fantastic resource. Thanks Anthony for a great interview. I may stick with my ancient scribe and papyrus😂

      Thanks for checking it out and commenting. I'm old school myself when it comes to ye olde papyrus. I also just like to stay off the tech as much as possible too.

      @@magneticmemorymethodpodcast Hi Dr. Metivier ıt s me again.
      I'd like to keep a poker face at all times and came up with a few strategies to do so such as creating a ''sad memories memory palace'' to stay serious or ''death memory palace'' if the first one fails to do the job.
      I would like to hear your ideas about this and what else can be done? have you tried something similar to this before?
      Thank you in advance.

      Yes, these are tactics that can be much improved by tapping into memories of previous emotions. I would suggest looking into how actors train and practice by using their personal memories.

      Thanks so much for checking this one out.
      Regarding Bruno and the issues you mentioned, are there any videos you can imagine that might help you make progress in these areas?

    I've seen a pilot recite all the movements for an acrobatic show with closed eyes. It was clearly not a replacement of the muscle memory but a fast warmup . It works great when you are prepared but it's not a substitution for doing the actual work

    • @magneticmemorymethodpodcast

      The actual work is always the best thing, and even better with some memory techniques on your side. :-)

    LOL, in the mentalism part I was convinced I hadnt had an accident in my backyard with water because it´s odd for me to use my backyard and especially with something to do with water but after they repeated it so many times I remembered that I had

    • @magneticmemorymethodpodcast

      It's fairly common, perhaps almost to the point that it would be more unusual to have not had such an accident... which makes me realize you could add "or parking lot" and "water or ice" to make it even more likely to create the effect.

    I lived with a family who had an autistic son who shpposedly had aphantasia , but one day i fiund him testing out an "invention" to automatically close his door. It would fail and he'd adjust the invention and kept going until he succeeded. Well how did he "imagine" this invention and all the slternatives? He has to have some way to imagine.

    • @magneticmemorymethodpodcast

      Indeed. It's sad that people want insist that imagination must be visual.
      Meanwhile, skills like TRIZ go out of their way to help people invent things by imagining them in many different ways...
