I have well over a thousand volumes probably closer to 1500. I also collect anime more now than manga video games/consoles. Not as big of a collection as anime or manga but still collect. And figures but I don’t buy many figures and the most I’ve spent on a figure is $50, so I don’t buy too many but do buy some. The biggest 2 tips I would say are wait for sales wait wait wait. If you’re spending $10 a volume not on sale it starts to add up. $10 is not much money but when you spend $10 hundreds of times your talking in the thousands now. Wait for sales. 2nd tip which is honestly more important than the first one is collect what you will actually read and enjoy. Don’t just buy something bc you saw some one else’s collection. Make sure you can see yourself reading the series at least a 2nd time in the future. I’ll give an example. Mech series are not my thing no problem if you enjoy them but personally they are not for me. Have no interest in reading or watching them. But with that being said I bought mobile suit gundam the origin hardcover. Luckily I only bought 1 volume of it but I will never read it have 0 interest in it. Bought it only bc I saw a collection video. And I’ve bought stuff that I will never read bc I enjoy the anime more but still bought the entire series just about. Point is buy what you truly will like

Actually, the English version of Blanc et Noir is a limited edition. It was only printed 10,000 copies. I also got the Japanese version, and it's more than enough because the artwork is still the same. It is definitely my favorite and most precious book.

Speaking from experience after living and working in Japan, and being in a relationship for 7 years with a Japanese women, both Men and Women/Society are very concerned about maintaining a healthy weight, or “healthy weight.” Also, being progressive from a western standpoint is kind of foreign In Japanese culture. That’s not to say it’s negative or positive but just the way it is imo. All in all, I don’t claim to be an expert on the culture. The more I know, the more I realize I don’t know anything 😂 Anyways, reading manga makes me think twice sometimes like you did with My Dress-up Darlings, or be a little concerned at times. Great video, i have been collecting just a month now and spent way too much so far, and am getting a Kindle Scribe to make things cheaper and not take up any more space, my physical collection includes all those Deluxe Editions of Berserk, 18 books of Junji Ito, all 12 of the Gantz omnibuses, Blood on the Tracks (ongoing), PTSD Radio, Goodnight Punpun and Monster. It'll be awhile till i get more physical manga, which will probably be Vagabond and 20th Century Boys. Looking forward to exploring more of your manga content, to become more wise in the manga world.

Oh, man, seeing hikaru no go in top 10 is warming my heart. To say i have personal connection to this anime/manga is to say nothing. I dropped from my colledge to pursue my dream of becoming a go pro and was invited to go to korea. At the end of the day it didnt work out, but i dont regret it. Even though i rarely play go nowadays i still go to the local clubs whenever i come to the city that has one, just to play and feel nostalgia. Hikaru no go forever will be in my top manga/anime list ) PS: chahayafuru manga has same vibes, i strongly recomend it. Anime is very good too, so check it out it really elevates the source due to the nature of the game.

A few months ago I found Nagatoro, I was hesitant but started and was hooked. Shortly after finishing that I found the dangers in my heart and shot right through that as well. Both stories have great progression, can’t get enough of ‘em.

The early volumes of Mashle were hilarious. The way Mash just casually breaks the laws of physics and is completely deadpan while doing it I couldn’t help but laugh.

My coworker loves dramas and psychological shows. Told them about Monster. They said it sounded awesome....and when they found out it was an anime their interest immediately dropped 😢

I definitely have a mixed collection of manga which costed me a lot of money but I have pretty much all the series I want and now I just collect the next volumes in the series which saves me so much money. Also, I read the series online to decide if I want to actually buy it. And also there is no shame in buying second hand manga. It saves money.

The Stars and Stripes arc is during a time when MHA had the same editor as Hunter’s Guild Red Hood, Samurai 8 and several other Shonen Jump series that ended up getting canceled. He ended up being replaced and kinda shunted to another magazine. So if this arc and a bit into the next arc feels off that’s why.

The concept of Red Hood’s ending was great it just needed a few more chapters before it ended so that the ending didn’t feel rushed

Great video!! I’ve been collecting sense 2019, when I was new to this my collection grew rapidly to about 350 or so during 2020-early 2022. In late 2022 I started working on budgeting and not buying every new series I was remotely interested in. Now I’m nearing 700 volumes and still need to unhaul some series I’m not interested in. I’m working on bringing down my monthly buy rate from 20 volumes a month to 4 a month… hopefully I’ll get there Eventually.

it's seemingly a lot less jarring and constraining as what's seen in Blame for example. Im definitely gonna have to turbo turn through these pages, thanks for the video man
