Speaking from experience after living and working in Japan, and being in a relationship for 7 years with a Japanese women, both Men and Women/Society are very concerned about maintaining a healthy weight, or “healthy weight.” Also, being progressive from a western standpoint is kind of foreign In Japanese culture. That’s not to say it’s negative or positive but just the way it is imo. All in all, I don’t claim to be an expert on the culture. The more I know, the more I realize I don’t know anything 😂 Anyways, reading manga makes me think twice sometimes like you did with My Dress-up Darlings, or be a little concerned at times. Great video!! Look forward to more content!

Yep, it’s not uncommon for Japanese to say to friends, co-workers, or family “You’re fat or getting fat.” They will tell you straight up, but they are still a culture of respect, harmony and peacefulness. They just don’t shy away from “fat shaming” lol.

Yeah it’s really becoming one of my favourites of the year for sure!
I also wasn't feeling Summer Hikaru Died. I may come back to it at a future date, but the story hasn't grabbed me yet.
Yeah idk what it was. Like, it really did feel plotless for the first 80% of the book, and I didn’t find the characters as compelling as I wish they had been.
But I’ll try the second book and see what’s up 👊
