Watercolour Painting Process | Large Semi Abstract Landscape
Todays video is a little different from some of my other watercolour painting demonstrations since I will be finishing off a large watercolour painting and talking about the decision making process. I will talk a little bit about the process of painting large with watercolours and hope that it will inspire you to give it a go if you have not already. This is a semi abstract watercolour painting built up in layers. I mixed some aquapasto into the final layers. If you are interested in finding out more about using aquapasto medium with your watercolours then please see some of the videos below. I am also referencing a video on painting in layers and one on how to flatten finished paintings using tape not books. I hope you enjoy the video and if you have any questions or comments at all then please comment below.

Watercolour Semi Abstract Landscapes Demonstration | Finding Local Inspiration and Using Greens

Here I show the painting process to create these two semi abstract watercolour paintings in my sketchbook. AQUAPASTO Watercolour and gouache medium | Introduction and Techniques

I absolutely love aquapasto watercolour medium and have used it in many of my demonstrations. Here I do a complete run through of what it is, how I use it and why I like to use it. It was invented in the 19th century so ...
Loose Watercolour Landscape Painting | Using Aquapasto Medium
มุมมอง 2.5K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Here I paint a loose watercolour landscape in my sketchbook and talk about the inspiration and process as I go. As I often do I use the watercolour medium aquapasto to add some body to the watercolour and this allows me to move the paint on the paper with a squeegee and also make some marks in the paint while it is still wet. I start with some wet in wet layers and build up to the final layers ...

    Loving your experiments! It does take it to the next level. Not too overdone. Love it. Was that a titanium white watercolor? Or gouache? Most artists here (US), use Posca pens. ( acrylic ).. but I love how you used a brush. Great job! Love and Prayers. 👍

      Hi Anna, your artistic expression has a serene and ethereal quality, this is why I love your work and watch every video. I am also on an artistic journey that sits somewhere between landscape and abstract. I am expressing my true nature one of inner peace and serenity so that when I’m creating and expressing I am coming from an honest and peaceful place as a graceful and tranquil space to be when the chaos and political play directs the external environment and relationships surrounding me. I have named this first series of painting inner space< just finding my truth and expressing that onto a surface at the moment, it may take on 3 dimensions in the future. ❤️

      Gouache even if used thick is a different texture. You can not so easily make marks in my experience and also it is matt whereas the aquapasto adds gloss. You can also add aquapasto to gouache.

  • @bizzybee852

    I liked the paintings, but I did not like the scratches, they seemed unnecessary and looked tacky to me. The brown lines you painted did a better job of conveying the lines that crossed the field. If it had not been for the scratches, I would have loved the paintings. They had a very serene and minimalistic quality, while still being a good representation of the place in the reference images. I am not a fan of most abstract art, but I can appreciate a simplified painting sans details, that presents as a beautiful representation that does not require some kind of Freudian interpretation,

This is lovely with blues but it proves much more difficult with green because the painting looks rapidly overworked. I think you said it right : the trick is not to put too much . Thank you so much for another great video! I'm wondering if you've noticed that adding aquapasto slows down drying for watercolor and gouache?

    • @annamabellaedgley
      @annamabellaedgley 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, I have. Actually should have mentioned this in my video. Thank you for pointing it out. I do also find drying time can vary significantly depending on room temperature so sometimes its more obvious than at other times.

    Thank you for doing such a well done in-depth video on Aquapasto. I have been using it for about a month now, and you happened to be the one who introduced it to me. I think it’s a wonderful medium, especially if you like to paint impasto and to make marks in your painting. Thanks again
