I'm liking these abstracts but sant see the benefit of the additive, could I use gauche or acrylic paint, or just straight from tube with watercolour?

The very fine veils of colour give a wonderful ethereal effect. I too am interested in wax finishing and mounting on timber panel.

So what's the difference between using this one and guache?

I absolutely love this exercise! I went immediately after watching this video and painted a couple of my own. The first layers are drying now. The simplicity of the composition with complimentary colors is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Thanks so much for this Anna - such good timing. I came across a reference to aquapasto somewhere (forgotten where) a few weeks ago and thought hmm - that sounds interesting. I couldn't find anywhere to buy it in New Zealand shops but managed to find some through amazon so bought two tubes!! So now I'm keen to experiment and find out what I can do with it - and your videos are going to be really helpful :)

Thanks for introducing me to aquapasto, my new best friend! You have inspired me to experiment with abstraction in landscape work and I am really enjoying playing with the process. I am a fan of the scratched marks and the way they contrast with flat planes of color enriching the texture of the surface. Your videos are very interesting. Looking forward to the next one!

I liked the paintings, but I did not like the scratches, they seemed unnecessary and looked tacky to me. The brown lines you painted did a better job of conveying the lines that crossed the field. If it had not been for the scratches, I would have loved the paintings. They had a very serene and minimalistic quality, while still being a good representation of the place in the reference images. I am not a fan of most abstract art, but I can appreciate a simplified painting sans details, that presents as a beautiful representation that does not require some kind of Freudian interpretation,

can you share the type of masking tape you use, as I have only used the blue or Orange painters tape which seems to have a stronger tack than I would like, thanks so much. I am a very representational watercolorist who wants to loosen up and your work is really inspiring me, thank you!

Hi ! Lovely artwork ! Green is such a tricky colour. I like quasi monochromatic paintings. This is lovely with blues but it proves much more difficult with green because the painting looks rapidly overworked. I think you said it right : the trick is not to put too much . Lesson learned 😉 Ps: I have not received the aquapasto yet . Can’t wait !
