Loose Watercolour Landscape Painting | Using Aquapasto Medium

- Here I paint a loose watercolour landscape in my sketchbook and talk about the inspiration and process as I go. As I often do I use the watercolour medium aquapasto to add some body to the watercolour and this allows me to move the paint on the paper with a squeegee and also make some marks in the paint while it is still wet. I start with some wet in wet layers and build up to the final layers using aquapasto but I am not using too many layers and I am keeping my colours bright by not over working the painting. If you have any questions or comments please put them in the comments section below and I will get back to you.

Glad you like them, thank you for your comment :)
Lovely. You make it look so effortless!
Thank you.. its true I have got better with practice but I am also able to edit out the bits that dont go well 😊
I love how you use the aquapasto to create subtle textures in your work. Beautiful and elegant. 😍
Thank you :)
Thanks to you I am experimenting with Aquapasto and enjoying watercolours more. I usually paint with acrylics but this is a new thing for me and I really like it.
I am so glad. Thank you for your comment
Thank goodness for aquapasto with my watercolour and gouach because I've tried using Acrylics and found out I'm more of the former
painter. Thank you for this.
Yes! It works so well if you like the look/ feel of acrylics or oil but want to stick to watercolour and gouache. Good luck with your painting :)
Have dedicated a sketchbook to making these landscapes/seascapes and I'm LOVING doing them. Thank you so much for the idea. I'm really enjoying doing them. Love and gratitude from Australia x
So glad you found them useful, good luck with the sketchbook, I love Australia. I am on the other side of the world in the UK! thank you :)
Brava!😊
Thank you! 😃
I liked your painting. And also want to try aquapasto now. 🙂
Great! I am sure you will love it!
I always enjoy your work. Such elegant beauty. I just recently bought some of the Aquapasto medium and am definitely inspired to use it. Thanks again for sharing your work!
Thank you so much! I hope it goes well with the aquapasto. I love it!
So lovely!
Thank you! 😊
The aqua pastor almost makes it like a acrylic finish in my eyes
Yes, its true! To me its like acrylic or oil
Complimenti sei bravissima. I tuoi lavori hanno uno stile ed un'atmosfera unici.
E grazie: perché condividi la tua esperienza non solo in video ma anche rispondendo a tutti! (è bello e raro!?)
Thank you! For now I am able to reply to everyone and if someone takes the time to comment I like to but lets see.. I am glad you enjoyed the video
Love these! Very inspiring! I got some aquapasto to try this out. Mine is a brownish color. Is that how it’s supposed to look? Or has it gone off? About how much do you use? Could you show how you mix it in the next video?
Yes, it is meant to be a brownish colour :). I am going to do an overview of aquapasto as my next video as I have had a few other questions about it. Thanks for your comment, happy experimenting!
In terms of how much I often use a 50/50 mix of paint and aquapasto and a bit of water. I hope that helps for now..
This looks interesting and I will definitely give it a go. Where did you get your squidgy from? Love the result you’ve got here.
I got it in an art shop. I will tell you the brand name next time I have it with me..
Does the Aquapasto lesson the translucency of the watercolour? TIA
No, it dees not. It is slightly yellow so changes the colour a very little with some paints but hardly noticeable. Thank you!
I’m seeing your video for the first time today. I very much enjoyed it. I’m wondering if you could get a similar affect using gouache with you base layer of watercolor? This is the first I’ve heard of aquapasto!
Its not the same as gouache has a different consistency. The other thing is that aquapasto doesnt change the transparency of the watercolour whereas gouache is opaque. I am glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for commenting!
Thank you for responding! I think I’m going to see if I can find some! Love finding new ways for adding texture. I really love the loose style you have.
@@judihussey5889 Thank you :). Good luck with your painting
Lovely ! What is aquapasto medium ?
Its a medium you can add to watercolour or gouache to thicken the paint. When adeed to watercolour it retains its transparency. It comes in a tube like toothpaste
@@annamabellaedgleyThank you vers much for your answer.
