The Sketchbooks and Masking Tape I use for Watercolour Paintings and Sketches

In this video I run through my watercolour sketchbooks and also the tape I have been using. I have been asked by quite a few people in the comments of my other videos about both these so I hope this will be useful for some of you. I am currently using two different sketchbooks and I make a comparison of them and I also talk about the tape and some tricks I use when I use the tape. These are not budget options and I think I will do a comparison of some more affordable options at some point. Please comment if you would be interested in a video about that.

I use washi tape from hahnemüle, from how you describe it I think it should be very similar to the tape you’re using ☺️ Also, the bird is a rooster, “hahne” is rooster in German .. I have no idea what that has to do with watercolour however!

Thank you so much! I recorded this one live (as I filmed) and when I said hen I knew it was wrong but I didnt think of ‘Rooster’ .. sounds much more like it 😊 great tip about the tape. I will check it out!

Thanks. I know that mauve tape as painter's tape.. I started using it this year. It's cheap and excellent and way better than masing tape. :-)

You can also blast the tape with a hair dryer before releasing the tape from the page and it will help it not tear as it activates the gum 😊
