RICHARDSONS FARM 2024 VINTAGE
มุมมอง 16712 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
2024 Richardson's Farm Vintage Harescramble. 8th in EVO class out of 20. This was my first Vintage race and the first time riding this bike. I arrived at the weekend event in time to spectate. While I was talking to my buddy Richard Seymour, he told me I should gear up and go enter the race with his spare, 85 Honda XR 200. Having never ridden the bike before, I had hesitations, but he knows I a...

Congratulations Brian! Great job !!. And thanks for helping me figure out what happened at 18:06. You were right behind me capturing the accident. I can't believe this guy didn't break his leg. His boot was sucked in by my rear tire and somehow he got up and was fine. He did say he was done for the day, so I am sure he was in pain, but I asked him if he was OK and he said yes...
omg i feel like such an ass. how did i not see that as clearly as i do now on video. I dont remember seeing him tangled up like that and screaming out. i dont know if i was just looking for a way around or what, and not actually paying attention to what happened. Whoever it was I am so sorry for not stopping and assisting you. that could have been bad. Eduardo, i checked your video also.. ugly. I am sorry guys.
@@briangoss Don't feel bad. It's hard to process everything that's happening. It all happened really quick. The crazy part is that he locked my rear wheel with his foot. I did not touch the rear brake. All of a sudden my rear wheel locked up. It looks bad on your video but if you watched mine, you saw how quickly he got up. He was fine, just a little shaken by it. I don't blame him. I was just happy to see him standing up...
@@briangoss wow Brian, now you got Ed taking out riders... what gives... that's crazy Ed was telling me about the incident and here you are catching it on camera... Crazy... you know right now I'm watching this to see our battle for 1st
Omg.. that was all brand new spec stuff when I started riding again in that era.. 86-90
Any chance you could share the GPX file for this part?
I bet this was easy for you after the tour of Idaho. Keep making videos.
When you laid it over in the stream I felt so bad for you and then I felt happy when it started
I was in a poker run with Malcolm Smith one time. I did not know him but he was in the same one as me I was on a 500 husky. He was an amazing rider, you are both from the same stuff as Malcolm Smith. You're very correct in being nervous around the side hills. Especially the ones that we could see in the film because as a dirt Rider I know that was a lot steeper than the camera showed. I've been riding over 50 years and I'll tell you a trick that I would use in desert races and in cross-country events that worked every time on those terrible off-camber hills. I would simply lean in just a little bit with my head toward the mountain, but I would have my downhill side elbow sticking out and my downhill side knee sticking out, by doing that you drive the knobs of both tires into the mountain and you can pass 20 people at a time in most off-road events on and off-camber I've done it. It's unnerving and you hesitated because you're brilliant and you don't want to croak out there. Thanks for those videos wow, I'm getting my dual sport ready this winter with my brother-in-law he has the same thing and we're going to hit the hills even though I'm almost 70 and he's almost 60 it doesn't matter as long as you're in shape enough to stay on the bike and not crash.
Thank you for the comments and i love that it is inspiring you to keep at it. life is short, take it all in.
I've been riding since 1965. I've ridden in the desert a lot and that one place where you flipped over backward I felt so bad for you. In a couple of years I'll be 70 years old. Riding along on this video that you shared with everybody is a dream come true but you're the hero out there that did it.
I saw the video from the guy in the beginning you reved at then passed. As you road off he calls u a jerk 😂😂😂
LOL yeah @billg3903 and I have a special relationship once the green flag drops :-)
You should be proud of what you accomplished, planning, riding, filming, inspiring others. But I would want to go back and try the Northern part of Idaho regardless of if they canceled the contest.
Thank you, definitely a lot of perspective and lessons learned. I made it up into the northern part of Idaho this past summer.. the mountains and trails are top notch. it really is an incredible place.
Is this day 4 footage the same route that you declined to show last year? I just wondered because I will never ride it but have liked watching.
Yes sir, day three and day four.
Once more into the fray.
This is a relatively easy enduro - against Red Bull Romaniacs.
One, its not an Enduro. And two you are comparing a weekend track day with your friends in a daily driver, against and Formula 1 race.. I don't get your point.
Yes, I see now that they are cross bikes. But depending on where it's being ridden, it's an enduro ride.@@briangoss
Nice job bud. Cool editing on Your video. Let’s see now, last race you ran over my bike, this race you t-boned me. If I go missing, they will know who to look at. 3 more races to go. I’m working next race, I’ll be there to cheer ya on
@billg3903 ha.. yeah, eliminate the competition right out of the gate. Make sure you stand well off the trail if you see me.
Congrats Brian ! Great race ! And great to have yet another C-Super senior video. I thought it was just Bill and myself posting. I just watched Woodchopper too in your channel and subscribed. I will miss Paradox, but planning to race the one after it. Hopefully I see you there!
My nipple got ripped off! lol good footage and riding BG!
Hey did you notice that right before you finished your 1st lap ... you looked back and I was right behind you ...
Wow... what a perspective... that was insane... I was mistaken what you said for sure... LOL it wasn't "I'm really sorry for running over your bike" hahahah seeing it from your camera, I can see I keep sliding out for some reason. That happened throughout the entire race, drove me up a wall. You are super smooth.. One day my friend, one day when You, Mr. Stryker and Eduardo take the day off, I might just get 1st for once. But until then, just remember I'm gonna be right behind you. or 10 or 15 bikes behind you ... but behind you none the less..
It all happened so fast. And i have been struggling with front end traction for a long time.. I know what you mean. great chatting with you at the event. looking forward to the next one..
Bikes not NH legal. Missing a mirror. Reported. ;)
@@trashpandatrailadv ....um it broke off in a crash earlier in the day...honest.
Looking forward to the event!!
Awesome job. I am curious, why didn’t you use mousse tubes? I’m planning on a BDR in April and using mousse.
There was a consensus in the community that they always failed. We never knew why they failed, but people who tried them had issues. So the safe option was tubes. I will say now, that consensus was wrong. With the proper preparation Mousse inserts will survive, and easly complete a 1300 mile trip through Idaho. For a BDR ride, just make sure you lube them well, they are correct fitting and not too soft and if possable, re-lube along the trip. A BDR will have a lot more high speed riding than a GRIT or TOI route. and that high speed heat is what will kill them.
@ thank you. Great suggestion.
Wow, Awesome vids, watched all 3 episodes. I camped in my RV Toy Hauler near the Smokey Bar Store for 5 days. Rode many of the trails in that area each day, out and back to my RV. Been following the TOI for several years, have ridden several of the sections but am quite sure, at 75 yrs old now, that the TOI is a No Go. Kudos to you for your effort !!!
Nice.. appreciate it. Idaho is a beautiful place. I cant wait to be able to camp out for a few weeks, deep in the wilderness, and take it all in.
Excellent video!
Brian, what a great video! I remember each section of your video as it was yesterday. I did Day 5 in 2022 and I nearly remember these memories every single day! We had ice on the seat of our bikes when we started Day 6 in the early morning 😉 Tx. Thomas alias Jack Maynard

Got to be 33.....
Thanks for sharing this adventure with us!! The weather was spectacular for you and the scenery is awesome. I gotta get out there one day from PA.
Wow....just wow. I have lived in Idaho my entire 70 years and 4 days ago, when I clicked on your very first 2022 video, was the first time I heard of this event. In those past 4 days I have watched each of your series with anticipation and wonderment at the amazing scenery and the rough riding conditions. What amazing memories you captured that will be with you forever. I found at the end of the day 7 video, I felt emotional at the towel throw...Respect, and well done Sir....well done.
Thank you so much.. appreciate the nice comments, it does mean a lot to me. I am glad people are enjoying this experience so much. these adventures truly change you as a person. There is nothing like it. I am addicted now. I recently got back from another trip through Idaho in August 24... so stay tuned :-)
Great video! Do you know why this tour is now canceled?
The organizer ran the event for 20 years. it was a huge effort and it was time to focus on some other things in life I guess.
Excellent video. The music made me want to hang myself.
I just watched your 2022 and 2023 TOI vlogs over the last four or five days. What an incredible journey! Outstanding job in the challenges and on the vlog. It was like binge watching a great TV mini-series.
Love it.. glad you enjoyed the trip..
Great video is it really 100 miles a day and what would you rate the terrain moderate or challenging thinking of doing it this year thanks.
I’m trying to start a dirtbiking based TH-cam channel. How did you start? Any tips?
Woah that printed GPS screen is really cool 😂😅
what battery do you use?
It is so fantastic to watch this after having ridden it. Thank you for making this video.
How difficult is this race compared to other hare scrambles? Videos are hard to judge the steepness and difficulty level.
It is high up on the list of difficulties. It's pretty relentless on the rocky side. If it is hot and dry, heat exhaustion is a very real issue. For 2024, currently, it is very dry and dusty. The route is backwards, and there are a lot of steep climbs. All that said, it's a very fun course.
@@briangoss Thank you, Brian.
You are an incredible inspiration! thank you so much for providing this series to us! I can’t wait to see what you have planned next!!
you are welcome.. Just got back from another trip to Idaho this summer .. stay tuned
I lost a counter shaft bolt early on a three day ride. Rode the rest of the trip without it. Now issues. Very impressive vids. Hard enough to put the hours in but to film it is overtime.
Great videos!! I would love ride all that at once but at my own pace. lol. I’m from MT. There is nothing better than being in the back country away from everything and everyone!
I'm so glad you're back for a 2023 trip! I loved your 2022 videos, they're so inspiring, one day soon I'll start chipping away at the tour. Does anyone make roadbooks for these trails yet?
Hi, no roadbooks available.
This has to be one of the best motorcycle endurance videos I’ve seen. I was in awe the entire video. I felt every kind of emotion watching this video. Excitement, nerves, and jealousy. Ha, I’m so damn jealous 😂 Thank you for sharing your experience with those of us with the same interests as yours. I am truly inspired by you!!! I live in Oregon at the moment, till I can move back to Boise, three years from now after I retire. This is a bucket list, but I’ll be 57 when I can retire, so I’ll have to wait till then. I’m not sure I’ll be able to complete the course, but that won’t stop me from trying 😁 Till then, I’ll just have to watch your videos. Again, I fully enjoyed this!!
Thank you kind sir.. :-) glad you are enjoying them. When you are through the 2022 series.. be sure to check out 2023, another big adventure. enjoy.
Is that a husky 501?
2017 Husqvarna FE350S
The Tour of Idaho solo is easily analogous to climbing Everest solo. The ability and intellect required to stop the ride or the climb can save your live and allow future adventures in those domains. Adventures at this level are seldom successful given the numerous opportunities for failure because of weather, rider error, or machine failure. Thanks for sharing your amazing adventure, and especially for being intelligent enough to survive it. Great video editing and photographic skills also!
Thank you very much. I appreciate your comment, and understanding of the challenge. It is an amazing thing.. and very addictive.
@@briangoss you mentioned only 5 years of riding dirt bikes? Incredible skills in so short of time! I began riding motorcycles at 15 when it was possible in the late 1960's to rent Yamaha 80 trail bikes at a local gas station! Now at 73 I ride a 2017 KTM 1090R on fast pavement and easy off-road rides, and a 2023 KTM 350 EXC-F for difficult and technical rides close to my home in remote Colorado. Addictive is a great term to describe our love of off-road adventures! Looking forward to your next video! I gave up on GoPro cameras recently after so many issues, which model did you use in the 2023 TOI videos? Your videos using them had great color, contrast, and focus!
Mile 98.5 reminds me of riding above treeline on the Alpine Loop in Western, CO. I am amazed to see you riding this section sitting down!
yeah, those high elevation, alpine zones are impressive. its another world. you do sit a lot, you just cant stand all the time, too many hours on the bike.. you get good at riding both ways :-)
Well done and thanks for the videos!
Thanks for sharing this adventure.
Love Idaho, I need to get back out there
I've gotten hooked on your TOI video series. What other GPOS units have you used for riding? I have used a Garmin 176, 276C and currently have a 478. They are all the same form factor. I like the detailed mapping they offer for off-highway riding. For a short time I had a 276CX (2020) but I hated it because it was very slow to redraw the maps when zooming in and out, so I sold it after the 2020 riding season and kept using my 478. The 478 seems to have a minor issue with the screen not being as bright as it used to be, so I think it's time to replace it. Maybe the Montana 700 is what I need. On my Tenere 700, I started using a Zumo XT, but it really lacks the level of detail for backcountry riding I am accustomed to with the old school Garmins I've been using.
