Clever fix! Nice work! My countershaft seal started leaking on the tour also. I tried to bribe a dealership in Missoula with 100$ to deliver a replacement to St. Regis but no luck. Ended up not being an issue
I lost a counter shaft bolt early on a three day ride. Rode the rest of the trip without it. Now issues. Very impressive vids. Hard enough to put the hours in but to film it is overtime.
I am deaf and really enjoyed the fact you had closed captioning on the first two videos.... I could follow along much better! It would be very nice if you could CC the rest of the videos🙂Thank you for filming such beautiful scenery and trails, I will probably never be able to ride them even though this is basically my backyard I live by Pocatello but now I can at least see them.
Hi, thank you for saying something. YT does that automatically. I didn't notice. But now that you mention it. I will go make sure it is turned on for the rest. You have beautiful riding in your back yard. Don't let it go to waste. :-)
Brian - thanks for your great TOI videos. Beautiful, technically excellent , they capture the emotional and physical challenge that is the Tour. But for me they confirm the decision I made to not attempt the tour. Thanks so much.
Unbelievable, good job. I looked at this when it was 10 days long, but when people said it was a good idea to pre run some of it ahead of time it just seemed like a crazy commitment. Did you ride any of it in the year prior to this attempt? I hope you touch on your fitness level, I race MX and would consider myself above average for 55. But 13 days at that pace would be a dream. I'll target RIdaho, probably more my speed LOL. Good job on editing too!!
Thanks, its a huge commitment. I race harescrambles in the northeast. I did attempt TOI in 2022 so the first 5 days i had seen before. that really is an advantage. As far as fitness, I was probably at 50-60% of where i really should have been. but you adapt and just focus on conserving energy wherever you can. its all part of the formula.
Great fix at the beginning of the video, very clever. I’m curious about your electrical setup. Did you install a bigger stator? Is the the FE350 or the S version? Did you use the GET map switch often?
Thank you. The buke is a FE350S it has a fairly large stator. I fid look for something larger but didn't find anything. I have had no power draw issues yet. The lights are really low power draw the the amount of light they put out. I did use the lower power map setting on day 1 in the slippery mud. But most of the time at the higher altitude and steep climbs, I used the full power map. (Taco moto maps) highly recommended.
Thanks for bringing us along, a lot of work has gone into this post ride - what a trip

Is this day 4 footage the same route that you declined to show last year? I just wondered because I will never ride it but have liked watching.
Yes sir, day three and day four.

Bears much of a concern?
Not really, I suspect they hear us coming. It's the mountain lions I'm more concerned about.
