    Could you help me? I have a big problem with my Poly D. In mono mode, a lot of keys do not trigger the right pitch. For example F# trigger a G note, so I have 2 G notes. An octave above, my D key triggers the D#. The next one is the A# key above, triggering the B so I have 2 B notes. If I play a chromatic scale with a MIDI channel in my DAW, the Poly D respond well to each note, so I guess it's a keybed issue.

      You've some good logical testing there, nice. I'd suggest using this video as a guide to getting to the connectors and clean them all using switch cleaner. sounds like all the keys trigger something, so that's good. Keyboard scanning sounds messed up. Any luck your problem will just be oxidisation of the riibbon connectors / and / or sockets (in these case 99% of the time it is) and hopefully at the keyboard end. Do the mod wheel and pitch bend work properly?

      @@hydorah mod whells works great, and my key problem repeats itself every 8 keys. It's very symetrical and so I don't think it's a mechanical key issue. I suspect a bad wiring or a bad MIDI programming. Very strange

    HELP !!.....Can somebody please give me some much needed advice ? I've got a Manson Guitar that was built for me in 1986 and it has a KAHLER trem system on it ....I opened the case (which I hadn't done for months) and found one of the strings was not on. But when I looked CLOSER I realized that one of the metal sides that hold the ball of the string IN PLACE has SNAPPED OFF.....The die cast metal bit holding the string in place (not the roller) has broken off & the system won't grip the 0: 24 guage string in place anymore.....I've searched frantically in the case & elsewhere for the little piece of metal with the hope of cementing it with Gorilla glue or Super glue but I can't find the little broken off piece anywhere....Its a GREAT guitar which Hugh built for me which I designed myself so I'm upset here .😥😢 Please can anybody help or advise ? thanks.

    I have a mg100hdfx actualy a pair of em but the master volume is very scratchy, would you suggest blowing it out first with aircan or with the suggested servisol can,. I have already got some CONTEC electrical spray lube aerosol but thought it might be a bit thick or the ol' WD40, would you suggest either of these? Oil is an insulator so id have thought maybe not to clean variable carbon resistors with. its also got noisy fan seems to be endemic with these amps. I got a four channel amp (prosound) between the mixer (behringer) as someone tld me beter to allow a low gain from seriesing the amps, and then the pair of mg100hdfx amps and theres quite a bit of noise from the mixer when first switched on, possibly input capacitors again? I dont notice it after it 'warms' up! - though theres no valves. also the digitech jam man has lost its no 1 slow blues track, is there anybody out there that would be willing to copy their card and post it to me please? ill pay you for a copy if you can do? i found the down load facility on it was slightly faulty and I had to down load each sub routine and 'best guess' patch them together - sort of worked. but then that pc i was using f'd up and was too dear to replace the disk drives, shame was a toshiba satellite. laptop. so i just use as it is. regards Frank. francisjkennedy3@gmail.com.

      I would suggest Servisol or any kind if switch cleaner / electrical contact cleaner. You could be on the right track with capacitors. You can test that, let one of your amps warm up then spray any suspect parts with freeze spray. If the noise comes back, that's your bad part. Not sure about the other things. Hopefully someone can help!

    I have one of those guitars, but the trem was slightly different. Mine didn't have the little covers. I did dozens of gigs with it, in a metal band from 1989-1991 and it held tune beautifully. Even after solos and heavy, fast riffing. Unfortunately, I threw the trem away years ago and have had the guitar fully rebuilt and refinished. It now has a Schaller Floyd Rose. I still have the tremolo arm though, and it's a screw in with about 3/4 inch of thread. I also just bought an RS-10V with the same trem, but in chrome. I'm hoping there is a way I can replace it, without too much modification to the cavity.

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Schaller Floyd is the OG boss! Yeah the little covers... They look cool but they are a bit scary the allen key required is microscopic and the allen screws have very shallow heads! A great combo for getting rounded out ! Apart from that these seem cool, if I recall the post spacing differs between the 600T and an OFR, but yeah I think get the post holes plugged and redrilled for a real Floyd and you should be away!

    I think you really needed to replace that fan, they are very cheap, it's not worth trying to lubricate them as the bearings will be on their way out. I've had a MG 100 HDFX for years, it has never let me down and it sounds very good for what it is. Probably my most used amp, I've got a couple of valve amps and two other solid state Marshalls, but the MG is always the one I go back to. Once you learn how to dial it in you can get some great tones from it.

    I believe its Yammak just for the record i said Yammaki before you opened the control plate, that is a cherry on top,the wooden compartment. I have a 1980 Westbury Standard, they made a Custom that was a little nicer. I bought it in the mid 80's for $75 from a friend who was getting his first Les Paul. The Westbury was a Matsumoku made guitar that actually came stock with the Dimarzios. The Washburn is made with such good wood, hardware and craftsmanship. I did not know I had anything but a really nice sounding and playin guitar. Then about 10 years ago I heard about these Japanese guitars, a friend told me they called Westburys LP's killers. The Washburn is very heavy thought. They have a few different pricepoints, I think they called them the Wing series. If I could get one of those Washburns, a guitar and a bass I would never buy another gutiar or bass again. Very cool Video.

    Step one: By far the biggest problem with Kahlers is that stupid behind-the-nut stringlock. But apparently due to lawsuits and patent issues there's nothing they can do about that. Throw that thing away and install a normal Floyd locking nut, and almost all your problems will go away. It also helps to learn how to set the bridge up properly in the first place. Even with new factory installed bridges, you can't always trust that it was dialed in right to begin with.

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Kahler string lock is not the most convenient thing in the world, the way you have to thread the strings through it, but it's ace. being able to use a proper nut - choice of materials, height, break angle, spacing - is a real advantage over the Floyd nut which is actually a big time pain in the ass as it requires a giant flat surface and you're into some pretty serious artisan woodworking if you wish to lower the action at the nut. Kahler did make Floyd style string nut / combos and even made Floyd style trems under license, simple fact is, the Kahler string just like the Kahler itself is it's own unique thing with specific advantages -and disadvantages!. If your neck isn't equipped with a Floyd nut, really serious surgery is required to install one... have you done such conversions?

    • @DogSlobberGardens-i7f
      @DogSlobberGardens-i7f 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hydorah Yes, I've done such conversions. The installation and set-up of a Floyd nut is something almost anyone with basic skills and tools can do... and you only do it ONCE. Set it , forget it. It's nowhere near as compliicatd as you make it seem, unless you just never use tools. In that case, any luthier will do it for you for a hundred bucks or so. And then it's good forever, basically. Setting up a traditional nut properly for your guage strings etc is something most players don't do themselves anyway. So if they even understand why that's important, they're going to be paying a tech to do it for them anyway. If you insist on a bone or other material nut, yes you want the Kahler lock. And if you cut the nut RIGHT, yes you can avoid almost all the problems.

    Hi Tear Down Dude, can you confirm that the synth would work without keyboard/mod section attached? If midi is still good and the output is fine, I might turn mine in to a desktop module.😄

      To be honest I didn't try - I should have. Still have the synth, just not the time to strip it down again. But others have done it: th-cam.com/video/XVSCSDhSP3w/w-d-xo.html

    No real surprises here, except lack of plastic happy to see. Glad to see Behringer used a sturdier key assembly-I agree it is probably a Fatar, looks similar in construction to a Generalmusic WX2 key assembly I recently restored except 61-key but same counterweights underneath and springs. with aftertouch, congratulations on an analog/digital synth clone very nice.And a steel frame, definitely "old school" construction, in the best way. Made me glad I have one.

    Impressed at the build quality, especially metal shaft pots and switches plus quality passive components. Good to see the guts of the poly D. The key action is also excellent quality, looks like Fatar.

    Hey to clarify, when you go into timing mode and you hit the step button you were specifying 1/8th notes and not the number of steps. It defaults to 16 steps if you dont tell it before going into pitch mode. Correct me if I’m wrong this is how I understand it, I’m new to programming the td3

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah ปีที่แล้ว

      The way I did it was arse about face. I entered the note data first. No timing at all, hence nothing came out sound-wise initially. It probably is a better idea to sort out your timing data first, but I just wanted to show folks a way to get started and some of the interface pitfalls - as I know it's not obvious. I also deliberately put in the worst note data I could think of to show how powerful the tweakery is 🙂Sounds you're going deep, you'll have to make some vids! Maybe check this fella's video out, as well, different approach, probably more sensible: th-cam.com/video/kS7jhMr8Hl0/w-d-xo.html

    Nice video! maybe you can help me with some erratic behaviour in one of this units. The Emphasis control is working randomly. Lets say the synth has been on for 10 mins. Lets say that I'm turning the emphasis clockwise till 9. At that point it starts self oscillating (the high pitch whistle sound). Then I turn Poly d off and on and then the self oscillation starts before 9, at 8. Let's say that, with all the other knobs on a fixed position, emphasis control is triggering the self oscillation usually at 8, but when is not triggering there, then I have to move the knob till 9 to make the self oscillation happen. Turning the Poly d on and off makes this defect disappear again and the self oscillation start before 9. Any idea?

    As far as I'm concerned Walrus cornered the market with the Monument and Julia/Juliana; they are the main circuits that made them a major force in the market. I also can't get past some of the EQD classics, - like the Aqueduct and Grand Orbiter.There is a lot of competion oit there, but you're just not going to do much better... Vox amps? Awesome.Vox pedals? Absolute trash.Not unlike Fender in that regaurd.

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, truth! The Vox of old and the current Vox don't have a huge amount in common, it's a Korg brand now and a lot of the 'vox' branded products are unmistakably Korg. Fender are highly questionable in many regards as a business and the quality of the non-flagship products reflects that. I've never tried any Walrus pedals, I'll keep my out for some, thanks 🙂

    Nice Job! i have to do the same to the cheeks of one of my DX7, i have other two but the cheecks are missing so i maybe will make them in wood. Actually you don't need the Rifa capacitor, they all burn after 20 years and was an old way to suppress noise from the power, my burned on DX7, on a Casio and in one oscilloscope, i just removed them. Better to use 220V or 110V filters coming from old washing machines or microwave ovens. My DX7 at the moment is perfectly working without the Rifa cap. About the cheecks color, i would leave them black. Mine are brown so i would be obliged to spray them with brown paint. Your black color is nicer

    Would there be a way to keep the LFO and main synth module connected without needing the keyboard? If I can get a nicer cable to go from the LFO module to the synth and maybe design a 3D printed case for the LFO module then this becomes a much more enticing purchase...

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the keybed connects to the board with the LFO rate / Mod wheel etc. on it. so just find a new home for that stuff like you suggest and get rid of the keyboard all together. If you do that you'll have to do a vid on it!

    how do i clean the speed dots and area strip

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah ปีที่แล้ว

      I used metal polish on mine. the best metal polish I've found is CarPro Metallicut. One you've finished shining up the edges and dots on your platter, you'll have metal polish in between all the dots, you can clean that up with a toothbrush and WD-40. If the oxidation is really bad you can use some fine grade wet and dry paper, like 400 then 600 grit and use WD-40 to wet the paper

    • @hydorah
      @hydorah ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, I don't... I could make one, but it's just a case of getting hold of some electrical switch cleaner or contact cleaner (it's all the same stuff) and flooding the pot with it to wash out crap and remove oxides. You can probably do it without dismantling anything. Flood the pots, work the shaft around a few times, let everything dry out... And off you go!
