I was just considering one of these dual overdrives and thought Wow this would be great, thinking it would have the same Valvetronx tech or tone lab stuff! Now it makes Me question everything by them. They re Vox Metal amplug headphone amplifier sounds great especially for practice but this is pure dumpster fire! Appreciate You!
The 'idiots' are right. It's a Vaccum tube- that's the correct name. A fatback tv screen is a CRT, not a 'cathode ray valve'. A valve is a name derived from the analogy of a pipe of flowing water and a 'valve' to control it. Happy to be of service.
Well, I'll share something back: obviously the 'T' in CRT , stands for 'tube', However, the UK term for tube is valve. Although this is changing over time due American influence. A lot of British English spellings are changing to also be acceptable in their Americanised / Americanized forms. happy to be of service back 🙂 From Wikipedia: "A vacuum tube, electron tube, valve (British usage), or tube (North America) is a device that controls electric current flow in a high vacuum between electrodes to which an electric potential difference has been applied." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacuum_tube
Interesting bit of digging. The pedal's based on the original vibe/trem circuit found in early 60s Vox amps. While the tremolo is pretty pronounced the vibrato is subtle. I think, if you're looking for something more dynamic, you should look elsewhere. There's plenty out there, as I'm sure you know. I use one of these pedals with an AC30HH (that lacks vibrato & tremolo) and love it but I'm not looking for anything particularly extreme. I wouldn't worry too much about plastic sides. The top is solid. A plastic top (hello, Danelectro!) would be a problem for me. When I get chance I'll check if mine uses the same tube. Yours could be duff.
I think you're right. I was surprised by what I found. I've since bought a honey comb by JHS which has amazing tremolo, but annoying it can't go really really slow. Thanks for taking the time to comment. If you have any recommendations or suggestions I'm all ears. I'll do a review of the Honeycomb at some point as aside from not being able to go really slowly I feel like its layout is a bit of a blunder. Considering the price and the quality I expected to be in love, but I actually don't even use it! Although what it does it does beautifully
Good job! vox probably didn't do themselves any favors by putting a window with flashing lights LOL. to be fair we the consumers are partly to blame for this goofy phenomenon! I mean I can't honestly say that I have never touted the virtues of a tube product that in hindsight didn't really sound all that tube-ey.
Yeah it was a very weak sounding pedal. I have a Moog MF Trem that sounds really good and even a cheap Marshall Vibratrem that sounds way better than this Vox thing. That's part of why I got suspicious about it
As far as I'm concerned Walrus cornered the market with the Monument and Julia/Juliana; they are the main circuits that made them a major force in the market. I also can't get past some of the EQD classics, - like the Aqueduct and Grand Orbiter. There is a lot of competion oit there, but you're just not going to do much better... Vox amps? Awesome.Vox pedals? Absolute trash. Not unlike Fender in that regaurd.
Yeah, truth! The Vox of old and the current Vox don't have a huge amount in common, it's a Korg brand now and a lot of the 'vox' branded products are unmistakably Korg. Fender are highly questionable in many regards as a business and the quality of the non-flagship products reflects that. I've never tried any Walrus pedals, I'll keep my out for some, thanks 🙂

Yes, well said!
the tube are not the best to have a powerful sound
it's like 1/2 gain -dynamic that the Blackstar pedals have
