    Fascinating analysis, you really put into words what I feel about Beta MultiVersus: "it's fast but the hits are unsatisfying". But to me personally the fatal flaw of MultiVersus is how janky it feels, especially with the terrible hit/hurtboxes. I often get angrier that my attacks didn't connect when they should or that I got hit when I shouldn't than getting outplayed.

    Terrible news. Season 3's patches yet, again, does not fix Jason's terrible hit/hurtboxes. At this point I'm genuinely convinced PFG just fucking hates the character and have no idea how to balance this game. He loses trades against 90% of the cast, even versus non-disjointed hitboxes. It's ridiculous.

    BRO LMAO I JUST STARTED PLAYING MULTIVERSE ON MY FRIENDS XBOX YESTERDAY AND IM A HARLEY MAIN(was before I even played tbh) And my og main in smash is zero suit Samus. Is crazy how you tied them together. Its legit like it was fate for me to play Harley. I had to pause and type this comment cause it was so surprising and cool tbh. W video new subscriber unlocked

    Honestly. Thinking about it now. If the physics were more better, I would be enjoying this game MUCH more than I would. The airgame feels so weird to control even when you get used to it. As one comment has said, “its like controlling hot air balloons” except with no great statistics to make each of them feel somewhat different. Like when fast-falling, almost all of them feel like paper, and sometimes its hard to hit aerials because of this without getting punished unless you try to commit to approaching.

    For the #FixJason Video I have an Idea for Jason’s rage and shield breaker moves that there’s a 1/3 chance that the shield breaker becomes red and that means it breaks Rage, also a 1/3 chance where the shield breaker is purple and it just gives Jason Knockback and damage and a 1/3 chance of stunning the player and not being purple or red

    I don’t get this ranked nonsense, I had 18% win rate as gold 4 and was getting put up against platinum player with 70% win rate lol it just don’t make sense

    I personally do not like traditional cooldowns, in most contexts anyways. I mean they work in mobas and hero shooters (although barely in some games). Now the reason why is because I find it to be a bit of a copout to design a move's only weakness to be "you can't spam it". That typically entails that the move is really good, because you can imagine how crazy it would be if you could spam it. When you design moves around the possibility of them being used at any time for any reason then there's a lot more nuance at play. You give them specific ranges, startups, endlags, etc. That just has a lot more going on for the player to work with and consider, as opposed to the cooldown usually meaning, "it's up, use the move". Truly, how many Bugs save their safe while it's off cooldown? And I don't count being off stage or anything, because I guarantee you they just put it down immediately once they're able to and start the gameplan from there. It does not matter what position they are in, you are in, or where the safe is going to be in any span of time because it is so strong that it becomes the thing the entire match revolves around until it's gone again. Can you imagine how much more interesting it would be if Bugs had to actually try to knock you off stage so he could have enough time to paint it in, as opposed to having a second of safety being enough to be a menace again? It would add more agency to his actions, players would either start relying on their worse buttons more and finding utility for them or get more risky in fishing for it. And that's what this is all about, risk and reward. I don't find the risk of not having something for an amount of time an interesting one for what ends up being a pretty great reward.

      Hitbox extension! When you hit a move in most fighting games, you go through a period called hit stop that freezes both the attacker and the thing that got hit for a moment while before knockback is calculated. This can make make hitboxes last a little longer than they ordinarily would. In this instance, Jason hit Jerry and while both Jerry and Jason were stuck in hitstop, Tom moved into the hitbox and also got hit because of the extension.

    Based on these definitions, EX moves are technically cooldowns as well, and are busted with a cost, and can help characters overcome their issues with new properties.

    Hmm, I like [M] Corrin, Bowser Jr and Zelda most in Smash. Guess no Multiversus versions :P I like Stripe and Bugs most so far in Multiversus. Probably need Beast Boy for Corrin mains with both full and partial shapeshifting attacks

    I hope he talks about garnets reverse cool downs. Getting rid of her cooldowns gives her access to shoulderbash one of the stringest side specials in combo department or clap. A strong large upwards attack that scoops the sides and kills at 90

      I was going to include that actually but I thought the video was already running a bit long and that she's a very specific case that can't accurately be used as a blanket statement for how cooldowns work in the game so I didn't include it. I do actually have a short about Garnet I'm working on where I talk about that though!

      @RPS_FGC Very neat. And I guess not it's just a really cool gimmick I enjoy. They go from a pokey opportunitist to a combo rushdown. And most of their abilities are timed before they actually work so you do this set up before using it to enhance your combo game

    Yeah, I don't play bugs because I find his fighting style very stiffled, like his forward attack has him just stand in place, but despite my only interactions with that character being bugs mains who tend to mess me up more than get messed up, I still think they needed the safe too much, I've broken it so many times on accident I've started yo feel bad, especially when I steal the sandwich afterwards Nah, the lasso cool down was terrible, it's insanely easy to dodge, she's prone while she waits for it to hit, and even if she gets you you can sometimes dodge out of the attack and hit her. I've never been abused by the rope or been able to abuse with the rope, and when it had cool down I had a 100% failure rate when trying to use it, and then it's basically useless for the rest of the match

    I do think Cooldowns are a negative in regards to game design, my mind jumps to the expressiveness of Soldier from TF2 regarding rocket jumping and having the extreme power and mobility provided reliant on the resources of his health and ammo capacity. The only thing stopping you from jumping is running out of health, instead of the game telling you "Okay no more now". Of course, an arena shooter is far more reliant on the maps played for the characters strengths and weaknesses to be applied as compared to Mobas and Fighting games, where player interaction needs to be more honest and consistent to make room for mindgames. But making Cooldowns the main, or even worse only balancing factor? It makes for a miserable time in my opinion. Cooldowns feel like an arbitrary balancing point of when something is too strong, and can't be balanced easily. Overwatch for example is basically a game MADE of cooldowns, waiting for your opponents to use something stupidly and know its safe. Playing the game does feel like whichever team presses Q the hardest to win a team fight after 2 minutes. Cooldowns do have a place, but my experience with them has always been band aid solutions, not actually treating core issues that they 'solve'. How can a game be built around 2v2s and then discourage team composition with not allowing two of the same character, especially when those characters have different perks and strengths? (I apologize if this seems overtly negative and hostile, this video does bring up strong points in favor of cooldowns but I just happen to be biased against them.)

    I'm glad somebody finally understands the function of Cooldowns, and put into words how I felt about them! It's seriously kinda frustrating how some TH-camrs like Mockrock (the guy who BEGGED for the Wonder Woman Lasso cooldown to get removed, and has said things like "if a cooldown CAN be removed, it should" and "let me do cool things all the time") simplify cooldowns to being blanket bad game design, instead of looking at them from a resource-management perspective and as a fantastic balancing tool to allow for a fun power fantasy with overpowered moves.

    Already liked and subbed, but this video took a long time if it still uses the joker banner 🤡 This game does a loot of crazy things you'd only check in the Rivals workshop, so its sad to see WB's greed. A simple starter pack with 5-6 character and enough Gleamium for the BP would bank them easy money, or even a bundle of character currency (or tokens) to choose them manually. 😢

    Great video man! At first the mention of cooldowns in a game like Street Fighter was a bit confusing as someone who primarily plays these games but I can see the comparison and it was interesting listening to your thought process on it.     Got to disagree with your wonder woman section the cool-down was terrible for her and it’s a good thing it got removed Especially given her perks are built around the lasso
