- We're taking a look at some of the characters I found to be the most problematic from a balancing perspective in the Multiversus beta!
With the full release of the game, I'm sure we can expect BIG changes so I wanted to document all of the craziest things from the beta that you may have missed/forgotten about.

Iron giant had the highest win rate not because he was good but because low level and new players didn’t know how to deal with him
I think it was a little bit of both. There were quite a lot of IG's in the top 50 consistently.
He definitely was quite the pub stomper too though
@@RPS_FGC i can only think of 2 igs that were consistently in the top 50 but i think those 2 were just super prominent

Like, my boy had the biggest hitbox and yall still losing? L.
IG was also super op at one point. Especially in ones where nobody could save you from an infinite. But then he got giga nerfed later.
@@MostSickAss7 Not to mention things like Harley get into the middle and do that infinite kick thing till you die. Or the late Shaggy combos. I got good enough at Iron Giant that I had to pick up a co main to use depending on my opponents and random partner. If need be people would team blender me too unless my partner new how to drag them into death.

My least favorite thing about Superman mains is that every time they get a kill they will spam their taunt over and over making Superman look like he's LITERALLY flexing on you. It reminds me of those arrogant jocks with punchable faces you always see in movies.
It seems so out of character for superman. Because he's nothing like a jock at all.

being an iron giant main during the beta was crazy
The grab into death cheese that lasted until near the end of the beta was beautiful, started out as grab into up special, then grab into down air followed up by a down special cannonball.
I think shaggy was considering a pretty good pub stomper was with the two perks that automatically put him in the super mode when he hit 100 and bonus damage when at 100, so if you couldn't kill shaggy early he could make an easy comeback
the only thing I hated about the game was that nobody complaned about superman being able to just, grab u and yeet u in the zone but they complayned that finns backpack is a kill move...
and that the game was too fast to play 2's :)) but maybe that's just a skill issue
Nah u right, Superman was SUPER downplayed. Convinced Superman mains were desperate to make him look bad so he wouldn't get nerfed.
Thankfully the new gameplay looks like it's slowing down a good bit and the servers look pretty good so I think the gameplay will be much more consistent.
I hate these players who downplay superman and want Finn and Jake Batman and other characters to be nerferd beyond viability because right now before the delisting and shut down the final days of beta multiversus is Just supermen supermen and supermen all over the competitve scene legit It was ass

Superman was easily my favourite character and yeah I don’t understand why people thought he was bad.
One thing I wish you had talked about was just how powerful he was with Velma in particular, that duo was solidly one of the best in the game. Velma could easily buff Superman or debuff enemies, making them even easier to kill early. They both also had ice abilities, which was by far the best debuff since it slowed the enemies, making it both harder to catch Velma and escape from Superman’s offence. Hell Superman’s speed alone made him one of the best characters at saving his ally’s if they were in trouble (fitting for his character lol)
Really hope they don’t change too much with him but I understand if they do, as long as I can run a train on my opponents and kill early I’ll be happy
Yeah that's very true. There was a reason we seen the Superman Velma combo at Evo top 8.
If I make a more in depth video on Superman specifically I'll definitely mention the combo in depth.
You know what, I think Superman *should* be overpowered and I'm not afraid to say it

As a dedicated Superscumbag I want to say that everything this guy said was correct. And yeah some of us did downplay him. But let me explain why that is. And why I think they should do something about him.
There are only 2 types of Superman players. You can even see them in this gameplay. He’s either camping you out for a cheesy (probably lucky) grab. OR he looks like he’s on bath salts the whole game. I don’t think he was ever broken. Other characters had some better tools. But he does have to shut his opponent down to not get smacked around. I think that’s why people hate him. He’s either running or doing three things that stop you from playing.
I’m not an expert so I can’t say how you would fix that. But I think it would be good to force him to be more active without letting him combo into 40% grabs every interaction.
Remember when Finn was considered broken ?
My fav character was Gizmo because he is genuinely fun to play as! I liked going in the little car and doing an emote afterwards
You can't spam popcorn anymore but being strategic and using it on the ledges with a flame arrow put a smile on my face

@soupermeger I mean Gizmo definitely wasn't by far the strongest but his popcorn could get kills easily especially once its charged more (and even more when it's fully charged with music notes and hit with a full charged arrow), though I guess it makes sense he isn't a killing machine due to him more being a 2v2s support (though imo I found him better as a 1v1 character so hopefully they add new gold perks for him that are more 1v1)

Grabbing someone as Superman and casually leading them to the border was some of the funniest things to do in this game.
I hated Iron Giant. He's so annoying to play against and wayyy too big.
My guy. My favorite thing was flying off stage after a win like he’s just going about his day.

I remember playing against Superman. I hated that character so much simply because, while the other characters were broken, at least they INTERACTED with you in some way. He benefited way too much from camping and passive playstyles. I
I'm hoping that stuff changes in the new launch of the game, because I do enjoy it a lot and I think Superman (outside of this game) is a pretty cool character.
I agree! I loved playing Superman as a nasty pocket myself, but I really disliked the direction that all of the best Superman players were playing him simply because it led to him being an extremely campy character. (The bracket VOD I used in this video had a Superman literally just sitting there for a full 3 minutes because he just didn't wanna/have to approach.)
It's very satisfying to just run people down with him though and he was one of my top 3 most played characters because of that.
Reindog was pretty Problematic but since there was only like 3-4 good reindog mains. he might seem not as problematic

speaking as a filthy Superman main, I feel the main reason some considered him bad (other than underselling) wasn't even character specific flaws but rather due to the games wonky priority system working against him.
For those that don't know, MVS at least early on didn't have a true hit priority system (ie strong moves beating weaker moves) so a lot of the time he would lose to faster and / or longer reaching side-normal moves such as Rick or Finn

I loved how when the beta first came out, everyone said Iron Giant was trash and always put him in bottom tier, and then the devs nerfed him because they said that he had one of the highest win rates in the game lol
I peaked at top 500 for Finn and the death threats I got were crazy online💀
Yeah finn was super annoying to play against, even after they "improved" the hitboxes his charged attacks still felt like bullshit to get hit by

I love that Taz was not mentioned at all in this video. He wasn't broken at all
Taz was really good in the early beta, but he got nerfed pretty quickly into a more fair state. He was still one of my favorites to play as even after the nerfs though.

i’m glad someone else doesn’t like superman because he was my most hated character. it wasn’t fun and it was so frustrating to play against him so i hope that they change him or something
superman is a character that has such a well rounded kit, he had spammable moves through the beta but even now he just feels like a great jack of all trades. one of those kits that can never get too overturned again if u will lol

Besides superman iron giant was THE most hated character among the top players.
Hell i’ve even bullied the best harley with ig and they ended stream after that loss 😂 (they shit talked at the start of the match to their friend too) then their friend was like “who was you playing against” and they said my username and their friend was like “nah I dodge that dude on sight bro I hate playing against that guy” lmfao
Man I was playing Superman in a completely different way. I was focused on abusing the armored smash attacks and the Ice Breaker Perk to really send them flying.
Im a superman main cuz i like superman . Its good that hes good but i want him to be fair too. Just good enough to deal with batman mains in 1s tho
Man superman was sort of the king of command grab cheese wasnt he... I remember me and my friend just going double superman and spamming aerial side b but slightly off sync. If it landed one superman would take them far off stage and hand them off to the other superman who would just take them to the blast zone and kill them at 0 😂.
Shaggy with any teammate that’s good at running and support is perfect(Velma n morty are my fav) while they run away they still do they’re gimmicks( Velma can assist easily) and morty splitting bombs while running is kinda hard but double . So while you’re running and causing havoc your shaggy is killing anyone who ends up caught in whatever Velma or morty hit them with while they can. Velma or morty is a mouse the opponents are cats and your shaggy is the dog that takes advantages of your set ups or the other teams mess ups

My Main beef was with Arya and Finn , the teleporting with the servers being bad , not it
Ok Arya was one of my favorite characters and she was super fun

if i remember right (or atleast when i played) iron giant got nerfed every single patch so both the general playerbase and dev team knew he was a problem. or i just heard alot of it because i was one of the top IG's

I think was this game needs/needed is a shield or blocking or any other kind of half decent defensive option
I swore more people complain about iron Giant but maybe that was just selection bias
Arya being here really confuses me, I got to maybe like top 10-5 with arya in ones and I never felt she was good in twos or doubles, that’s because I felt like her combos got really interrupted whilst in ones I used to get consistent touch of death hits, her recovery wasn’t that good though and struggled with approaching maybe? Cause every character just had stupid movement speed

Honestly morty almost single handedly killed this game for me. It was entirely a skill issue, but damn i feel like i could never win against a morty unless i played the slowest and lamest way imaginable

As a gizmo main, every character was broken, but I held my own and I’m ready to get back in
I think the most eggregious part of superman, as a superman main, is a tank did not need to be so mobile. Also, remember the time where his command grab didnt work properly and sometimes he just grabbed across the map
Except Superman is very mobile in lore.
That is just who he is. An unstoppable tank that movies like a speeding bullet and hits like a truck.
Taking any of these elements away from him would be deconstructing the archetype.
The actual way to balance him is to make him VERY susceptible to status effects. That is all.
If he is frozen, it takes 70% less total time to do so. If he is stunned, it lasts twice as long etc. Make him able to tank damage, but force him to dodge status effects with passion (and if he is hit with them, it is easy 100 damage uninterrupted).
@@kingol4801That would just make the character unplayable, a tank that is easily affected by status effects cannot tank at all.
Every iron giant I came across was either the best or the worse in the match no in-between.

Anyone else plays teams? I play smash as well so playing solo seems more viable. Teams is kinda fun… but just feels like a free for all most of the time.
in 2v2's i LOVED going up against these superman mains and iron giant main spamming. I managed to win my fair share against them with Velma and my brother being Bugs. I can't wait until May 28th. I'm moving back in with my brother in Colorado and we're about to have some fun again.

Anyway the only character I didn't like weeing was Stripe. Hated prenerf sair so freaking much, not a lot in the game was that punishable to begin with but that move was silly with the effort differential in using that move and dealing with it, at least when there was a decent Stripe
As a casual Superman is so funny and so much fun cause you just hit someone off and fly lol
