I absolutely love this song. I find her "Ballady" songs showcase her voice in a better light. It gives me the feels. ❤

This poignant rendition and beautiful messaging behind this song evoked for me other moments in her other tours where after all the spectacular numbers with high energy singing, choreo, dazzling video background imagery where she would tackle various issues-when she’d settle down usually by sitting down on some staging stairs to catch her breath but also to share her intimate introspection about her profound appreciation of the things that really matter to her above and beyond fame, fortune and celebrity glare: with this same 1998 song in 2001 DWT it was about motherhood and her daughter, Lourdes; here in 2006 she was acknowledging her loyal fans and tour crew of artists/staff-that these are truly her “religion”-for whom and why she continue to pursue her artistry and advocacy. I think she first fell in love with her fan base in 1985 Virgin Tour when she performed “Crazy For You”, then she reiterated her appreciation and love of them by performing the same song during her 2004 Re-Invention tour. Then again in her 2001 DWT she rendered the song-Gone-where she re-affirmed her commitment “not to sell out” about her core beliefs and advocacy that she’d rather…”Turn to stone…Lose my faith…I’ll be gone…Before it happens…Walk away…Won’t let it happen again…” The most amazing thing is that by doing this retrospective journey chronologically through 4 decades of her life and artistic career, we are witnesses to her authenticity, her genius and her evolution as a person and artist. ❤your insight and reactions throughout this journey. Yes, this performance is so pure and simple, her voice so angelic. People always say she can’t sing, can’t dance or criticize her endlessly, likely to make themselves feel better. I think Madonna’s strength, confidence and unapologetic nature irritate them, because it’s easier to hate than to love. In the end, it says nothing about her. I choose to live with love.

M delivers a performance that looks improvised and abandoned, yet we know that everything is perfectly choreographed, rehearsed, rehearsed and rehearsed until it's perfectly to his liking - high-level, that is - and seems easy to execute. It's one of the performances that made the biggest impression on me on all her tours, with its energy, intensity, look, attitude, introspective lyrics and explosive remix! I saw her in Amsterdam that time and I was totally bowled over by this track, which came to life on stage in a completely different way to the album! Thanks again for this reaction.
