    • @306foxbody1
      @306foxbody1 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, this car has never had any cooling issues, and it's funny you mentioned this because my 95 Mustang's factory temperature gauge reads high all the time (it has a new aluminum rad, water pump, thermostat, etc). When I had the car tuned, I asked about the temperature, and they said the readout to to the laptop showed a normal temperature reading. And on my 95, the temperature reads high, the oil pressure reads high (it has a high volume oil pump as well), and the voltmeter appears to read a touch low... So far, it's been one of life's little mysteries! For me, it seems like SN95s have possible minor gauge issues... Thanks for watching!👍👍

    Todd, I hope your project is going well. I don't know if you addressed this in any prior video, but did you ever consider a blow through carburetor system? I saw some air temps today that blew my mind. Just curious.

    • @306foxbody1
      @306foxbody1 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi If my car was a race car, I could see a person possibly trying a blow through carb system, but compressed air unfortunately creates heat no matter which way you look it, and I think my air intake temps are in a zone that most guys have to deal with. Methanol injection would likely be the quickest, cheapest way to bring down the temperatures, and have the extra benefit of an higher octane effect from the Methanol as well. But the air to water system that I would like in the car, (hopefully, lol) should work really well. Summer has put the project on a bit of a backburner, but I really appreciate your comment, as it always gives a guy something to think about, and another perspective! 👍👍 Hope you're having a great summer!!

      @@306foxbody1 lol....yes I too understand "LUSSAC's Law" Have you ever recorded IAT's in the manifold? I just watched a guy make 26lbs of boost and IAT REMAINED LESS THAN AMBIENT. I spent a whole night reading articles and waiting to make a phone call to confirm what I saw happening. The fuel(E85, 91, 93, C16, etc) has a cooling effect as it vaporizes and mixes with the air. The same can be expected with EFI throttle bodies that introduce the fuel at the intake manifold flange. Port injection can't do this BECAUSE there is not enough time for the air and fuel to mix. Look into maybe....maybe not. Up to you, but I've been against hot pressurized air since 2008. I'm looking after 16 years I'm changing my views with the data I've seen.

    • @306foxbody1
      @306foxbody1 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @arturozarate1752 yes, the dry intake is definitely not helping as apposed to introducing the fuel earlier...yeah the fuel would have no choice but to cool everything down. I never really thought of what you mentioned earlier with the benefits of the blow through carb system...but this totally gives me more to think about...that's what I totally love about hearing comments... Also, our local fuels are holding things back a bit, as we basically have 91 octane at best. One day (be it next yr or the year after), things will hopefully come together . After nearly 30 years working on and building these cars, there's a common denominator with ignition system failures. Poor electrical power and grounds. The hard/delayed start you experience more than once in this video is a good indicator that you should consider upgrading or repairing the electrical. Also the positive lead from the solenoid to the starter....12awg? The amount of current draw and the shock put on the components all trying to start up at the same time slowly kills these modules. This is more apparent in cars with batteries relocated to the rear. First, the battery is filter of this shock on start-up some refer to as "noise". With the battery in its original location it would absorb such loads and decrease the chances of module failure. 2nd....grounds are just as important as positive connections. I don't know how many you have or even see any. Battery to the frame, battery to the body, frame to the engine block on both sides, and cylinder head to the body. Good secure connections and star washers where bolted....MINIMUM. 3rd.....properly sized and length of wire for the load it will see. Oxygen free silicon insulated cable is great. The more flexible the better. Keep away from Copper Clad Aluminum wire. Any one can argue. These are not only my opinions but the methods in which I've successfully repaired automotive electrical systems professionally for 25 years. Of the Mustangs I own(93, 96, 03 Cobras)and drive anywhere across the country I'm yet to see any module failures or carry any spare parts of any kind with me. I'm that confident in my cars....watch me need a tow home today. 🤦‍♂️ Just some information that I hope can be useful.

    • @306foxbody1
      @306foxbody1 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching and for taking the time to write such a detailed comment! The factory obviously put all the ground connections in the many locations for a reason, and who knows how many where deleted or not serviced over the years on many cars. You've definitely given me some food for though to check my grounds and other connections. I believe I do have heavy enough wire to the starter, and from the battery, but it's definitely a good idea to go over everything again...as it could save me from calling a tow truck too!!👍👍 Thanks again!!

    From my own experience……if your Fox dies while driving and will not fire/start even after vehicle cools down it is a TFI or coil issue. With the TFI having a better chance of being the culprit. Usually when they go bad they are done! If it does start after letting your Fox sit and cool down then it is a dizzy/PIP issues. The PIP will then get hot again after driving and it will die again and won’t restart till after it cools again. Btw don’t forget to put the heat sink/thermal compound on the TFI module

    Had the exact same issue with my 1990 GT. I changed out the distributor with a known good unit, did not solve the problem. Tested the coil ( Screaming Demon) and the secondary was open. Replaced it with a stock Ford replacement coil, problem solved.

    the grey ignition module on the distributor on my '92 used to croak on hot days. I swapped it with a t-bird module which mounts in a heatsink frame with cooling fins on the fender well instead of right on the distributor. Never happened again. Get a t-bird one and wire it to a cool spot on the inner fender. might help. Lol, I guess ford solved this but only for t-birds. good luck. ha, I just got to the point where you showed the sn95 remote module. that's it. did it for mine. never stalled out again in heat.

      Hi, thanks for watching! I wonder if a guy could use a SN95/T-bird distributor as well, along with the wiring to the tfi. I'm actually surprised I was able to go this long without an ignition problem..lol! Thanks again!👍👍

    • @paulblack3608
      @paulblack3608 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@306foxbody1 It may be possible. I know the t-bird of that era had the 5.0 pushrod 302 engine as an option and many similar components. I never messed with the s/n 95 stuff as the engine block was a completely different beast. I'm pretty sure mine was a t-bird module I picked up at a junk yard. I think I gutted the original dead module leaving the housing with the plug still on the distributor then just wired the new module from the fender wall to the old plug with some custom connectors. I drove mine for like 10 years like that. cheers.

    We used to play with the first generation Gtechs back in the 90s. We’d test them at the track. The ET was usually relatively close but the mph was always ridiculously high. Now Dragys are usually within a tenth and 1 mph of track slips… and that difference is probably from the roll out and speed trap at the track. Get you a Dragy for $150, it’s the best tuning tool you can get….(besides actual data logging).

      One of my buddy's has a Draggy that he uses in his modified BMW M2...it works pretty awesome. I'm going to have to try it in the 86...see how far out the old G-tech is... Now to find some extra traction...lol!

    How quick has the 86’ been in the 1/4?

    • @306foxbody1
      @306foxbody1 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, In 2005 I had it in Saskatoon Saskatchewan 's SIR Dragstrip, a d with a fresh 351w, a Procharger P600B pushing 8-1/2 psi, and no official tuning, it ran 11.24 at over 124mph. In 2015, it has gone 6.99 @99mph in the 1/8th mile at a local airport dragrace event. I hope to get it back to a drag strip in the next couple years. Thanks for watching!👍👍

    • @AJsSpeedShop
      @AJsSpeedShop 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      6.99@99 is a 10.90 in the 1/4, not bad at all for an unprepped surface. 124 mph is good for 10.60-10.70s with a 1.4x 60’…. But you know how that goes… what they “should do” is usually harder to obtain then what they “actually do”. Lol. Keep up the good work. New sub here.

    I daily drive my 89’ SSP, I’ve had the coil get me once, the ECU get me twice and a belt tensioner get me once. So now in the trunk I carry a module, a coil, a fuel pump relay, a spare ECU….and now you have me thinking I need to carry a fresh distributor. Your vid is a good indication of what to watch for to me.. Thanks for posting.

      Hello! I don't really have an official "kit" for each of my cars...but it's going to happen pretty quick... Also, a decent sized fire extinguisher isn't a bad idea as well. After seeing the burnt S351 that Fox Junk (TH-cam channel) is working on...I'm going to keep that in the car as well. I have a small one in the 86, but it's likely 25 yrs old. Thanks for watching!👍👍

      what did the belt tensioner do to you?????

    • @306foxbody1
      @306foxbody1 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @berardoferrari maybe the spring broke in the tensioner? ...or the tensioner pully bearing seized?? Just my best guess...

    • @AJsSpeedShop
      @AJsSpeedShop 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The pulley on the tensioner literally broke off the bearing holding it to the tensioner arm. The bearing and bolt was still there, the bearing was smooth. The plastic pulley seemed to have melted around the bearing and popped off. I walked a mile to an Autozone, got another tensioner and changed it in a Home Depot parking lot. Lol. The new tensioner also had a plastic pulley, so I installed a billet pulley from UPR to avoid this in the future.
