    Hah, forgot about these! They were an absolute blast and super fun for folks that didn't live close to a drag strip.

      Hey Sleazy! We were fortunate to have 1/8th mile drags at our local airports, put on by local car clubs. That too is no longer happening. Sure miss those days...

    I remember those. Never had one. Your '86 sounds healthy. That's music to me.

      Hey Benny! So far so good. It looks like I have to figure out my tachometer issue, get the steering wheel straight, and I noticed some blower belt slippage in 3rd. I also have so new control arms in the back that are nice, but they totally hurt my traction compared to my last set-up. Once I get the 95 out of the shop I can bring the 86 in, and take care of a few things. The 86 also needs to be professionally tuned...so hopefully next year. Hope you had a great weekend!👍👍

    Heck yeah, my buddy had a g-tech and we used it all the time back in the day. I’ve had a Dragy for a few years and suspect it’s a bit more accurate. I remember mounting the G-tech (original version) right next to my old Cobra fusbuster ha ha. To add to the nostalgia, I even had an old Kenwood pullout cassette stereo in my t-top ‘87 LX (original canada car btw) and listened to my CD’s via one of those vibration mount players that you’d set on the floor and it had a wire leading to a cassette that plugged into your cassette player and that’s how it allowed you to listen to your “modern” CD’s! Lol

      Hey @elementl1166, Totally remember pull out decks! Haha I think I had a JVC pull out in my 86 at one time! I also picked up a mid 80s Escort radar detector. It's huge! About 8 times bigger than the little 1st Gen G-Tech. I think I'll post a pic of it on our 306 Foxbody FB page! Thanks for watching!!!👍👍

      20 years ago I never left the house without it! When my buddy saw the old G-tech I just picked up, he referred to it as a Gen 1 G-tech! Lol

    I remember borrowing the OG gTech with Greg and taking out the 1995 z28 back in the day. Good times!

      Hi! Yeah, it was a pretty neat little device. It was like having a drag strip in your back yard! It's actually amazing how well they work!

    We used to play with the first generation Gtechs back in the 90s. We’d test them at the track. The ET was usually relatively close but the mph was always ridiculously high.
    Now Dragys are usually within a tenth and 1 mph of track slips… and that difference is probably from the roll out and speed trap at the track.
    Get you a Dragy for $150, it’s the best tuning tool you can get….(besides actual data logging).

      One of my buddy's has a Draggy that he uses in his modified BMW M2...it works pretty awesome. I'm going to have to try it in the 86...see how far out the old G-tech is... Now to find some extra traction...lol!

    I had a G-Tech back in the day. It was a fun toy but the results were often all over the map due to the limitations of the acceleration based technology. Now I have Draggy and it can do it all. 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, 60ft 0-60, 60-130, 60-0, graphing, density-altitude, etc, etc. You can even record your run with your phone and the app will insert all the relevant performance data into the video in real-time! And it's accurate to within hundredths of a second due to it's GPS based technology. Hardest part is finding an empty , smooth stretch of pavement to use it on these days...lol!

      Hey Bryce! I'm going to have to check out the Draggy. Too bad the nearest drag strip isn't as close as it once was. I miss the Esterhazy and Yorkton drags. Hope to see you out at some of the car shows coming up this month! Thanks for watching!!👍👍

      @@306foxbody1 It’s coming along well. Mostly together except the hood. Totally Turnkey, starts easily. Waiting for it to cool down and make some videos. Supposed to be great in three days. Slow on posting lately, trying to get the work done before winter. but I have been filming everything.Thanks for asking!

    I remember these. I never got one as I was still using my Vericom VC2000 that I got from way back in the early 90s. It was pretty accurate once I got the settings figured out for traction choices.

      It's funny that you should mention your Vericom! I was looking through my old Muscle Mustangs and Fast Ford's magazines Trying to find a rare retro speed part, and I saw various advertisements for the Vericom. They were pretty neat back in the day! Thanks for watching!

    Hello love the videos ...Gotta say love your car to...I like it even more then your 95 or your 92...Just something about it that makes me say wow...I got 89 lx black exterior and sand beige interior...Just stock except exhaust...I am thinking on sprucing it up a bit this winter... But i sure don't want to do anything to it to hurt the reliability of it....She never let me down yet and i do daily drive it... Part spring all summer and part fall...So not sure what to do..

    • @306foxbody1
      @306foxbody1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Michael, Thanks so much for the comments and for watching! Your car sounds awesome! I think that is definitely smart of you to have a plan, and not go overboard with a build. If I could do it all over again I would do a few things differently. I wouldn't do a modification that I couldn't easily reverse, and I would keep every single stock part that I would have removed from the car. The most fun I've ever had with my 86 was when it had a 302. With the 289 heads, x303 cam, Hartman intake, and a few other bolt ons. The reason I liked the 302, it was easier on the car, easier to work on, got better gas mileage, I could drive it anywhere and wouldn't get into as much trouble if things got out of hand. Keep in mind, once a guy goes over 500 hp, you could run into a cracked block among other problems. So, if I was in your shoes I would stick to a naturally aspirated 302 with possibly heads, cam, intake upgrades over time, don't go wild with gears and you will likely still enjoy the car as much as you do today. Thanks!!👍👍

    Those were cool... I never had one, nor did any of my Fox friends. How much were they back then? I have a feeling that's why I didn't own one.

    • @306foxbody1
      @306foxbody1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey 89! I just found an old Car and Driver article that tested performance meters back on 2005. They said the original G-tech was around $200 in 1995, and the newer one was around $300 probably around 2000 or so when the newer version came out. I was fortunate to gave one, and it definitely got lent out a lot! Lol Thanks for watching!

      @@306foxbody1 that's awesome. You should've charged a rental fee, lol. J/K. Great video, and thanks for the memories. I've owned at least one Fox since 1994.

    Wow, I still have one, didn't use it much. They were damn expensive for the time iirc like $250 does that sound right? Used it on a Monte SS I had for 0-60s never could get out of the 7.00 somethings...which means it was probably fairly accurate. It musta been late 90s.

      Hello, They were definitely pretty neat, especially 20 years ago. I just came from a buddy's shop and he pulled an old G-Tech out of his tool box. He said the last time he used it was on his sandrail, probably 17 years ago. Thanks for watching!!👍👍
