    I frequent the e recycling bins in my local area and are finding it much harder to pic up decent crts compared to a few years back, I reckon in the last 12 months they have started to really dry up, even in council clearances. I remember in 2020 being able to pick up at least 2 crts a week from nature strips now it feels like a see them once every 6 months, give it 5 more years and they will probably totally dry up.

    That's like finding gold in this day and age, RGB or component on little sets is hard to beat. Great thing about small CRTs is you can store 4 14 inch ones vs 1 29 inch set and you don't have to visit the chiropractor after you lift it.

    Honestly, for 480i content like VHS, PS2, 3rd party Gamecube, etc, these seem like the perfect displays. Wouldn't use it for scanlines but definitely would use the huge 480i screen and sound system to play Vice City how it was meant to be played. I'm really regretting passing so many of these up on the streets. Hope I see another one soon. Got a 27 inch Trini and an old cabinet Zenith as well as an HD Wega and plasmas for everything else. Do I need one? No. But it would be a rad final edition for that specific era of gaming.

    I bought one of these televisions online a few years ago. Even though it is now quite an old model, the sound quality was absolutely unbelievable. Watching a action movie I would often literally jump out of my seat because of a special effects explosion. 😂😂 The couple I bought it off still had the original receipt for it and they paid £4,000 when it was new. Ok, it doesn't have HDMI inputs, the screen may be flat but the back is still pretty deep like tv's of old and it weighs a ton. But tge upside is that you can pick them up nowadays for very little money for what is still a top notch television with sound quality that you can't fail to be super impressed with.

I’ve never had to solder anything before and the idea of opening mine up and soldering it scares me. I bought mine for a pretty good price but it was still expensive. Hello, many thanks for your work, I really need your advice and professional opinion, I recently saw a monitor from the Phillips MC15601 HD11 ultrasound equipment at a flea market, it is about 14", has BNC connectors on the back with the inscription "B", "GV", "R", "SYNC" and also VGA. On eBay such a one costs about $ 400-800. And at the flea market such a one costs 2000 rubles, tell me is this a good option for a mister, and should I expect that this monitor has a higher quality tube than in ordinary monitors. With respect, Maxim.

    I bought one recently (2023) for its NTSC input - which is rather rare in the UK - to play with the CGA composite output of my IBM PC5150. Looks nice next to vintage computers, doesn't take much space, the build quality is fantastic (save for the obviously missing flap...). Too small for txt applications, but games designed for CGA composite mode run perfectly!

    Anyone watching, don't sleep on this model, I have 90's version and yes it still has the annoying need to chose ntsc/PAL, but besides that it's definitely a 500+TVL tube(scanlines are well defined) with awesome geometry and convergence. Love the old school look and the external speakers!

    I just bought one of these, because I love the design and look of it. I don’t mind that the screen is a standard CRT. I used to drool over high end PVMs wishing I could have one, but I’ve come to the philosophy that older games were made to be played on average family TVs. So while near-perfect fidelity is really cool, using a regular consumer-grade CRT is also perfectly fine and arguably what the games were designed for.

    Another update: this TV does function marvelous as DVD playback machine. It has beautiful frame doubling and decombing. Where you don't want 100Hz for games, it is very welcome for DVD playback. So this is my favourite DVD display, and the Panasonic Viera Plasma is the best in 1:1 pixel perfect Blu Ray playback. I have to say that sharpness and detail on the Viera with Blu Ray is a huge leap forward, expect to have 5x as many pixels. But since goodwill is still flooded with cheap DVD's, the Avant is the best way to watch them. Incredible sound too.

    Shame about the Sharp at 0:20. I have the same model! It might be worth pulling the CRT and chassis for another project. Also recall the little 10' portable at 9:15 was sold here in the UK as the 'Nikkai Baby 10', though there were other OEM iterations available with A/V etc, mostly from the catalogue brands. I believe it uses an Onwa chassis (see Michael Dranfield's video for more info).

      @rgbrob 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      shame the cords were cut on the telecom computers. From what i have gathered, the monitor for these computers contains the actual power supply for the computer itself, so that adds extra difficulty into the equation. I got an amstrad computer that was similar but managed to get the monitor for it as well. The amstrad monitor has 3 leads coming out of it, 1. the main power lead that goes into the power point, 2. a video signal lead that goes to the computer , 3. another power lead that goes to the computer to power it.

    Most of those NEC Multisyncs will run at least basic VGA resolution with a 9 to 15 adaptor or cable. I used to pick them up for $5 each as only good for parts, and spend $10 on a cable, and sell them for $80-100 each. That Sharp 10" 3 in 1 tube is the same as in the Philips KA910/920 portables that were also made by sharp. They used to get dropped all the time and the tubes broken. You could sell those sets second hand for a couple of hundred back in the day, since something like that crappy Masuda 10" 12V cost about $600 new. I would keep the Sharp and drop the Masuda off a cliff.
