Some Smile / KFC monitors use the rather uncommon NEC Cromaclear tech, which is slot mask like TVs but at a much finer pitch. Not this one unfortunately.
@@rgbrob Although it's bigger brother the Apple Multiple Scan 20 doesn't do this. That one has an orange light that signifies stanby instead. I was surprised one of them did this as it confused me the first time I turned both of them on since my dad had them. Thankfully they both still work after them not being touched after probably 15-20 years. They're great for modern stuff, especially the 20in one as it can do 1600x1200

Rob, this CRT is way nicer than I thought it was going to be. Thanks for showing it off.
I used to have a 27" KFC monitor around 1997-2000. It was pretty decent.

It's a FONY!
🤣
Where you able to test and find the max resolution it supports?
Didn’t test any further than in the video. Passed it on to a local guy who’s running some older PCs, windows 98 etc
My old Apple Multiple scam 17 does the same thing when no input is put into it. Goes into standby mode very quickly and appears to be off
Ah yes I sold off a load of apple monitors including your model the other day. Thanks for your comment
