What a crazy heat wave here. I double zeroed because I got a free room with this lovely woman. We went swimming and got invited to a trail angels house for a party afterwards.

    Good decision to avoid crowds. Have you been checked for diabetes? It surprised me when I was diagnosed. 6 years later, I'm doing better. Get checked. I still believe in having a map and compass in case the batteries die. If you carry a 24 ounce metal pot, you can still heat up you food over a small fire or heat tablets or tealight candles. Happy Trails. And I roll. Good Luck, Rick

At age 18 he stopped the diet. It turned out that his gut healed and he is fine now. Many vaccines have a mercury based preservative that can cause leaky gut. Avoid the gluten. There is plenty of gluten free products now but they are expensive. One of the dehydrated meal companies offers gluten free products. Good Luck, Rick

    50 miles in 4 days is good if you didn't get hurt. 60 years ago, our backpacking tents were made of sail cloth by a sail maker. Look at River Country Products for an inexpensive tarp and a poncho. I bought the whole set up for my son when he was going to hike the AT. I really like their ponchos. I bought a bunch so that I could give some to friends. In the mean time, 3M waterproofing spray might make it waterproof for a while. Enjoy the views. Good Luck, Rick

    From what I can tell, the younger hikers naturally form "tramilies" because they are all around the same age... and end up doing around the same pace and miles per day. Those of us that are older, get passed up and left behind... just like in everyday life. It's rare that you see a tramily which includes even one hiker over the age of 60.

    • @AdventureQuencher
      @AdventureQuencher 6 วันที่ผ่านมา
