- PCT 24' day 6 - Trials and tribulations. We all have them. As we age, these things become more obvious. Here I'm trying to be transparent about ALL the little problems that arise as a middle age hiker. 😊
Muscle cramps, loss of sleep and other factors come into play here. Water is still very much an issue here. Water will be a challenge everywhere from my experience but moreso in this section.
I hope this resonates with you and shows you the entire gamut of the thru hiking world... Not just the glamorous side. I especially hope that the 40+ hikers can see what we possibly face out on a thru hike.

Thanks for being real. Yes, the trials and tribulations of the aging hiker. Every day that we exercise is a win, both mentally and physically, regardless of how many miles we do. Youre doing great, and an inspiration.
Focussing on enjoying the process not the goal,is how I cope with ageing hiking at 71. Love your videos.
Thank you. That's the message I'm trying to convey. We're not here to compete in mileage. We're here for each other to be supportive of each other. Hiking is hard. I just want to promote people getting out here and enjoying this big beautiful world together. No egos here.
Small world, Roadrunner is just a little more than 100 miles ahead 😊
Still here and your rockin it groceries! Stay safe and hydrated ❤
Thanks. I keep trying.
The PCT really is a different beast! You are doing great, Groceries!
Thank you!
Still watching Groceries and loving tagging along with you, thanks for taking us all along. You are doing great, keep on keepin on!
Thank you so much. It's been great so far.
Love your videos! You are truly inspirational!
Aww thank you so much. You're very kind.
You got this Groceries!
Thanks dude. Hope you're well.
You are doing great! Amazing video, loved it! Thanks for sharing. Sending love ❤
Thank you. Hope you're well.
Man, I thought this was Dixie and I got transported to the future by 45 years
😊

Blowdowns are a pain. Even on my very short hikes. Electrolyte products are being mentioned in hiking videos more and more. I’ve made a note to ask my doctor her opinion of them. I drink plain water. I’m a bit worried now. Ha
I can only speak for myself but doing such long hiking requires me to supplement with electrolytes. It is easier for younger people but not me. It's a great idea to consult your doctor.
Aging is tough but it beats the alternative. With age we are supposed to be smarter. Take your time, give yourself extra care, and be happy that you are able to be out on a beautiful trail. You may want to carry an extra 1/2 liter bottle of water, incase of emergencies. LMNT has gotten very popular but its new, we don't know the long term yet. Bananas always worked for me to prevent cramps. I disagree with your assesment, 13 miles is a good day for the conditions. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Aww thanks Rick. I get caught up in the heat of the moment sometimes. Thanks for keeping me in check. 👍
Well done, the stretch without water was tricky indeed, but you did good! 👍 They might have electrolytes for sale at KM 😊
Thanks. Yes they have them here and I loaded up on them. I'm going to hang out for a couple of days to just relax before I head into the Sierra's.
Love all the purple flowers on trail. Hurray for the 600 mile marker! 13.3 is about 10 better than I can do at the moment. Glad you're camping next to water. It's starting to worry me a little. I've heard that Propel's not that great so hope you find something better.
No rocks at mile 600?
I'm using liquid IV now. Love it so far. Cheers
I find that magnesium helps a lot with cramps
Yes it did but it's also a laxative if I take too much lol.
Hey there! If you can find LMNT it will be good for you! I used propel initially when section hiking but was turned on to the other. It is super salty tasting but that’s what you need! You’re doing great. Keep it up!
Sounds good. I've been looking for it but no luck so far
Aged hiker here I use nuum electrolyte tabs. Love them.
Awesome. Glad you're keeping an eye on that. Cheers!
@@AdventureQuencher beats cramping !!
Nothing shabby about 16 hard earned miles.Stay safe, laugh know you are a wonder
Thank you.
Thank you.
I'm hiking behind you. Keep up the great work! Are there still ravines on the trail around miles 555 - 565? Are they passable?
I'm trying to remember but I got through easily so it must not have been an issue.
I have the Kat Saswatch with 4% more down it is the bomb!!!
What liner do you have?
Sea to summit reactor
I was wondering what blow downs were and it soon became obvious. 😂
lol ya we all get them but sometimes you just can't distinguish the trail because of all the blowdowns.
Talking about 10 miles and 1 litre is concerning. At least you had cover. Could tell you were focusing on getting to water, understood.
Yes I was. 1 liter for 10 miles is getting to the critical point. All ended well though. 👍
Congrats on 600 miles. I use LMNT and confirm it’s a great product with no sugar, like Liquid IV. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Great news. Thank you!
