If even a fraction of this is true Tim is insane. That said I am highly suspicious of the cases being brought against him. As far as I understand these are all civil cases seeking financial compensation rather than criminal cases. Why are they only seeking financial compensation rather than criminal punishment for these types of disturbing crimes? I understand there is a difference in the burden of proof between the two types of cases but if there isn’t enough proof for criminal charges it seems like it’s just a smear campaign with the benefit of financial reward without recourse should all the allegations be false unless it can be criminally proven they are false. This doesn’t mean he isn’t crazy and filled with illusions of grandeur and it doesn’t mean people shouldn’t get as far away from him and these organizations as possible, it’s just suspicious to me. The reason the “anti-Mormon” folks get a bad name is because there are those who completely forego their morals and DO become more loose in their morals. Almost as if, they use the church isn’t true approach as a green light to abandon all its teaching, particularly sexual and substance use behavior. However, while unhealthy, it is natural for people to rebound from one extreme of the spectrum to the other. I would argue that most who leave the LDS church develop an open-minded, progressive view of these behaviors. Then there are those, such as myself, who have left the church because dishonestly and hypocrisy of the brethren, but the strong morals in their upbringing remain an integral part who they are and what they stand for. In my opinion, the healthiest way of life is moving away from either extreme and finding middle ground on all issues. Christ taught by example that we’re expected to be loving, caring, forgiving, and understanding of how people, however immoral, to choose to live their lives, which seems to be more inline with liberal views. I see a lot of members taking care of their own, but casting judgment on those outside of the church or those who have left instead of gathering the sheep to use Mormon reference.
