I am a Christian (not a Mormon) and I appreciate this video, not because I want to attack the LDS Church, but because it has information from first-hand experience. There was so much information I learned in this video regarding the beginnings of the Mormon church including details about Joseph Smith’s integrity in connection to the way he started his religious movement. What really stood out to me were all the concepts the LDS Church took directly from Christianity (e.g. God’s sovereignty, forgiveness, Christ’s sacrifice, baptism) however, these concepts are completely disconnected from a consistent biblical exegesis so they make little sense. The LDS church has such an inadequate doctrine of GOD, that their belief system inevitably becomes a dissonant blend of orthodox biblical ideas and heretical ideas. It is evident that the LDS Church doesn’t teach the Bible with an honest systematic and exegetical approach, instead, LDS teachings grab biblical bits and pieces to accommodate Joseph Smith’s theology; a theology to continues to evolve even today. I get the impression, and I may be wrong, that Carah Burrell and John Dehlin may have closed their doors to the church all together (including Christianity.) and I completely understand. How can anyone blame them for doing so after being immersed in the teachings of the LDS church? I want to point out, however, a claim made by Burrell during the video. Burrell said, “Overall I just want people to live healthier lives and follow their own inner moral guidance and authority and work things out for themselves…”. The problem with this statement is that people’s own “inner moral guidance and authority” must come from somewhere. What is the standard? Who creates the standard? What’s right for you is not necessarily what’s right for me. Appealing to people’s own inner guidance and authority is basically the same as saying that good and evil are relative, and this is a very dangerous place to be (as history has shown us.)

I’m not Mormon but I live in a town that has a temple and 90% are Mormon or atleast jack Mormon 😂😂 and you are wonderful keep up the great work of speaking up and out for other that might be scared or nervous too !!! Because of the hate and rudeness you get when you do.

Trying to Lead with Love. THank you so much for this report. As a lifetime member of the church, the "Leadership" have always been a good ole boys bunch. They are all about control and money and like you said, will do whatever it takes to get it. Long have they used the crutch of revelation to justify everything they do. So many innocent members radically persue and accept what is spewed at them (not discussed, that implies two-ways communication). So your report is so beneficial to helping our friends find truth. We will be villanized fort speaking out. The good news is we don't have to accept their rules and actions. We have the power to rise up and use our minds and hearts so get the truth. So lets get this word out.

I knew about the Vallow/Daybell connection to VoG. I'm curious to know if there is a Franke/Hildebrandt conneXion (ha ha, I tell poor joke in a bad place). A lot of their recorded post-arrest phone calls hit those same notes. I would not be surprised if it was a direct connection, but would also be surprised if VoG has not contaminated the thought streams of minds already conditioned to be susceptible to such fan fiction fairytales. Regarding Mormon Church finances: The Mormon Church recently purchased the first LDS church building in Kirkland, OH. It was purchased from a Mormon splinter group. This building, which can seat around 100 people, was purchased for $192 million. THIS is where the tithes go.

My understanding is that after things went badly wrong in the early 20th century with polygamy and major disagreements among the Fifteen about ending polygamy, decisions have been made by consensus. That is why the rescinding of the racial and priesthood temple ban was so long in happening because men like Delbert Stapley, Ezra Taft Benson and Mark E Peterson opposed the rescinding of the ban. I can be completely on board that individual members of the Fifteen may have beliefs in alternative sources of divine guidance outside of their own alleged ability to receive communication from God but find it hard to belief all of them but into this or approve of it. Wendy Nelson describes Russell Nelson and his revelatory experiences for example. Added to that , it seems to me that most decisions now are more administrative decisions eg the new and horrible trans policy. I Thom Harrison being an influencer for some of the Fifteen rather than the power behind the whole top leaders based on this information and what we are actually seeing in terms of guidance or so called prophecy.

My grandfather was on the high council of 12 and he kept diaries . He felt bad about pretending it was true and how he knew the president wsnt a prophet and knew it. It's an agreement to nor key anyone know the emperor has no clothes. The don't believe any of it. Even Joseph Smith didn't believe it.

The prophets and apostles being figureheads makes a lot of sense to me because they spend too much time proselyting in other countries to actually be doing too much (although I know that they did work in the church office building on SOMETHING because my grandmother said she saw them often) but I so wish you could expose your sources so I have a more reliable assessment of this!!

Well DAMN. To anyone evaluating this information - sure, we don't yet have an admission of guilt from on high. And anyway we live in the age of deepfakes now. The people in church you are referring to is not Mormon. They may have called themselves Mormon in the past, and you and others may still call them Mormon, but that doesn't make them Mormon. One of the grand principles of being Mormon was accepting truth from any good source beyond just the Bible. The church today that you call Mormon only accepts gospel truth from its leadership. They don't even accept truth from scriptures unless the leadership mentions it. Also, President Nelson distinguished the church that he leads from being Mormon. That means that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not Mormon. If the leader of the church says they are not Mormon, and the original founder of the Mormon movement helps to define what being a Mormon is, and the church today does not harmonize with that original principle, then we can clearly see that there is a distinction between what was Mormon and what is called Mormon now. Check it out, and change your mind.
