In part one, we're diving deep into the mind of Tim Ballard, founder of Operation Underground Railroad, with Ryan Fisher, former confidant of Tim Ballard, esteemed videographer, ex-Heartlander, and journalist. Get ready for an eye-opening multi-series interview with Ryan. From where Tim Ballard's controversial journey began in the conservative Mormon demographic, and the ethical concerns surrounding his efforts to combat child trafficking. Ryan shares his experience working closely with Tim and launching his American Covenant theories into mainstream Mormonism.
In this gripping exposé, we peel back the layers of Tim Ballard's enigmatic persona, and unravel the complex web of connections between Tim Ballard, the Mormon Church, M. Russell Ballard, and Joseph Smith. Plus, we'll delve into the controversial topic of the second anointing in Mormonism and its potential implications for Tim's trajectory.

Thank you for the work you do, and I hope this comment is read and taken seriously. I find the discussion around Tim Ballard and OUR to be problematic. It's often framed as if Tim and donors to organizations like OUR are simply well-intentioned people trying to help, embodying a 'white savior' mentality to rescue individuals from 'third world' countries. This perspective is not only offensive but also triggering for those of us from these countries, echoing the demeaning narratives used during colonization.
It's crucial to understand that OUR, and similar entities, are symptomatic of larger issues. The resources that afford you your privileges are often extracted at great cost to our nations. The assumption that we lack morality and are inactive against these crimes is deeply insulting.
We need more discussions about the real impacts these narratives have on the communities involved, and how perpetuating stereotypes about our countries causes significant harm. The problem isn't just that OUR strayed; the underlying issue is the pervasive white savior complex that drives individuals to create or join such organizations. It’s vital for your guests and audience to grasp this distinction.

it's something i've had to grit my teeth about in otherwise interesting interviews even like this one, so thank you for saying something, and i hope you know that even some of us in the imperial core noticed and picked up on this. the so-called rampant ch-ld trafficing and slavery, where it exists, is there because of desperate economic conditions intentionally caused by the american empire for its own enrichment (and the corporations that are at its helm) and exacerbated by--and the customers are--wealthy westerners fat on the spoils gained from the blood and bones of the people of the global south. even this presupposes that such a thing is worse in said global south, when it's really not. if tim ballard really actually gave a sh!t about trafficking, he'd never have to leave utah to combat it. there is a ridiculous amount going on along the wasatch front and tim would know because he was participating in it!
this is by far the most disgusting and upsetting thing about tim ballard and OUR, is how it is yet another arm of american imperialism and even many people opposed to what they did focus more on the pain caused to the white westerners participating in racist, imperialist adventures than OUR's part in exacerbating "the trade" (trying to keep youtube bots from flagging me here) and often directly a3using m!nors themselves.
its no surprise or coincidence that the people who are fans of OUR and Sound of Freedom are some of the most racist people you will ever encounter, because believing that the "dirty" global south is a hotbed of this kind of thing because they are bad or unrighteous or whatever for not being the imperializers is a prerequisite to get caught up in these fascist fantasies in the first place.

100% with you, I've addressed this from my first video about Tim, but it's not the main focus of this interview as direct as you're putting it here. But the racism and explotation in Mormonism permiates throughout. It's part of my DNA to call it out. Thanks for the comment.

Agree with everything you say- this assumption that our life (white American) is the best life there is. As noted in this interview and others- they were creating a demand where none existed so that they could act out their Indiana Jones white savior adventures. Doing the same ol’ colonial BS with an excuse to make them feel good about themselves. Disgusting. And I agree- we need more discussions about the impact this is having on the communities they invade.

Ryan believes that Tim is “religiously sincere”. What does that mean? I think Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow are religiously sincere in that they believe their crazy beliefs. But why do they believe? I think Chad and Lori had the hots for each other, and lo and behold, they found some religious beliefs (being married to each other in past probations ) so they’re not really cheating. Chad had a “vision” that his wife would die, and what do you know? She’s dead. They found beliefs that supported the shitty things they wanted to do anyway. I think Tim is the same. Of COURSE he believes faithfully in things that justify him manipulating and molesting women, among other things. I applaud Ryan for doing this, it must have been so difficult. Great interview Cara!

      @@dadhacks9449
No one looks into it for there to be 'Data.'
The mormon church sees to it that there is ‘NO DATA.’
And it isn't limited to Utah mormons.
But I was, unfortunately, born and raised mormon and as a young teen girl I was forced to 'be with' whichever MAN my father chose. My father's 'choices' were based entirely on their sycophantic kissing of my father's ass, and he truly seemed to enjoy picking the most despicable worms and forcing the men I hated the most on me, as a show of 'his dominion over' me.
I was not even a rebellious child, my father was just a world class misogynist. I was a very shy, quiet child (and also never a believer - I mean seriously, who could believe the absolutely stupid tales we were taught in church, from an early age that the prime motive of mormonism was the domination of women shone through), and the closest I ever came to disobedience was a refusal to stand up in front of everyone and 'bear my testimony.'
A 'testimony' that they did not want to hear, by the way. But at least I'd figured out early on that there was no way I could be forced to stand up in church and lie, without my father appearing to be the bully that he was.
Anyway ... bottom line: I was 26 years old when took my first step of freedom, after 12 years of being held hostage (and just because my father chose my captor, they all wanted to pretend that made it normal and OK - it never was OK with ME!) beaten and raped by the 'revered return missionary' my father had given me to.
The mormon higher up response to this ... smear her, so that if she ever gets the nerve up to speak the truth we will already have something on her.
One part of this plan was to 'assign' me to a physician (not even an obstetrician) to deliver my first child (born when I was still 16) that was a member of the Stake Presidency and a rapist and abuser himself.
If I ever dared to speak the truth I would not just be accusing my 'devoted husband' of a violent sexual assault, I would be accusing an elderly respected member of the Stake Presidency of rape as well.
Imagine ... being an overly sheltered child (not allowed to watch TV, listen to the radio, speak on the phone, or have friends) at the age of 16 having your rapist's child delivered by (surprise) the rapist ‘The Church’ arranged to be your physician, while your whole family pretends how wonderful it was that your first rapist (the 'revered return missionary' that committed the violent assault that resulted in the pregnancy) was willing to marry you, in spite of the fact that you were 'damaged goods' (and by the way -that I had made perfectly clear that I hated his fucking guts).
Those are girls you should be looking to save. I can guarantee you that there are several in your ward right now (either women who have undergone a similar experience or young girls about to), the young girls about to become victims are most likely at every service, the ones already ‘captured’ probably don’t attend church (can’t risk them speaking up), but their owner's and masters are probably full or part time attendees.

In those pre-internet days, I was able to find a SINGLE PARAGRAPH on the Hopewell tribe in ONE encyclopedia. So, I made everything up, and got an A+ on the paper. I am pleased this man is being interviewed. It is my sincere hope that Tim Ballard is held accountable for all his crimes if the accusations are true and factual and can be proved with evidence.
I question the interviewee's beliefs. I wish there would have been follow-up queries, i.e., at 49 minutes in, he says he doesn't believe Ballard is a racist. Really? Of course, Ballard is a racist.

This episode is spot on and so good thank you! Also, I wanted to mention that I am aware of X-CIA officers/special forces that were starting these type of companies in the early 2000s, marketing to wealthy men who would like to go on these type of weeklong excursions & get full training experience. So this was not an original idea by Tim.
Also, I’m surprised that these other companies wouldn’t want to sue Tim for claiming he had the same kind of special ops or farm training that they did? Just like doctors who are board-certified probably aren’t happy to see individuals practicing that have zero board certification? Maybe he does have some type of Homeland security training but it sounds like he was marketing it being CIA level or special ops level training that he had?

So to be clear if you have your second anointing, it is still possible to get excommunicated or have your temple recommend taken away, but you just don’t really care because you know that eternally there will be no consequence?? OR are the leaders not allowed to actually excommunicate you, or take away your recommend for something other than murder or sin against the Holy Ghost if you have the second anointing? Thanks.

The Dark Triad refers to a set of three personality traits: Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. Individuals high in Machiavellianism are manipulative and strategic in their interactions, while those high in narcissism exhibit an excessive sense of self-importance and a need for admiration. Psychopathy is characterized by impulsivity and a lack of remorse, heightened imagination and addictions to sex, drugs or/and alcohol. Even though Tim has been proven by others as a terrible individual, a liar, and an abuser - people still believe he is a believer.

    • @marelinem541
      @marelinem541 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don't think this was ever 'a legit cause.'
Tim Ballard found an issue that absolves a legitimate source of mormon guilt, 'the trafficking of women and children' that was done by the early church. (The reason mormons originating from the United Sates have a higher percentage of blondes than the general population is due to the specific orders from early church leaders to import/sex traffic young women and girls from Scandinavian countries by lying to them to get them here without their families and then divvy them up as plural spouses to the old men higher in the church echelons.)
Now mormons could assuage their guilt (and fulfil their perverted fantasies, at the same time) by giving money to Tim Ballard and going on 'Special Missions,' to free sexually abused children.
The truth is they could free far more sex trafficked women and children by a few probing interviews in their own wards at home ...
But where's the fun in that?
