    It’s so disheartening and sickening the way some can twist a narrative to suit their own dark purposes.
    I know this tactic has been going on forever but it still makes my brain hurt and crushes my heart.
    You three are hero’s in my book. Keep shining light in dark places so the cockroaches can’t hide! And please stay strong!

    Public Confession:
    I was totally "Duped" by everything about the story narrative of Tim Ballard as well as supporting the film.
    But I blame no one but myself.
    Challenging my bias to see that he was not a Righteous Role Model the media so desperately needs.
    I was wrong.
    Unlike my friend who doesn't want to look at the evidence, because it may mean admitting she is wrong.

    I love you three together! I watched Alyssa's video with you two, and now this! I'm a never Mormon, but I've lived my life in a small community in rural Nevada where the Mormon influence is pervasive. I found you all through Mormon Stories by way of Growing Up In Polygamy discussing Warren Jeffs. I enjoy the longer formats so I can plug my Bluetooth in and go on with my day. Thanks for the deep dives you all take, so many of us can take that information and research avenues many don't know or won't speak of.

    The prohibition on playing cards originates at least as early as Joseph F. Smith (president 1901-18) following a long period in Utah following the coming of mining in the territory which led to many whorehouses (at least 20 in Provo in the 1920's for example), saloons and gambling dens. I think cards were effectively "evil" because of their association with these vices. Utah was a wild and crazy place until the decline of mining operations in the 1930's.

      @ginafrancis4950 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Alyssa said- money is the root of all evil-
      1st Timothy 6:10- says it’s the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil.
      To put it another way-
      The LOVE OF wealth is the root of all evil.
      You do know what wealth means, right?

    • @btrasbt
      @btrasbt 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ginafrancis4950 Let me help you out. What you use to transact is a debt note, not money. It is not wealth. It is debt.
      Real money, which is not commonly used, IS wealth. Loving wealth is not wrong. Wealth is produced by the efforts of those who develop the skills, talents, and abilities. It is produced by those who work to create it. Wealth is the physical manifestation of mankind's efforts to be productive, to know and learn truth, it is the physical manifestation of mankind's desire to live and sustain life.
      Are you attempting to claim that you should not value these virtues in your fellow man? Or are you attempting to claim that you should not value the consequences of your fellow man possessing these virtues? That is a little silly.
      An attempt to acquire a disdain for wealth, or maybe even a hate for it, is an attempt to value death.

    29:15 when you talk about the idea of continuing revelation, and evangelicalism, there is a problem with this as well with the charismatic movement in evangelism (a large portion of which are very authoritarian/controlling and Trumpy- but this is bleeding over into all different denominations, kind of societal or social contagion, as Dr. Bandi Lee has talked about with regard to Trump and QAnon.) and we have been talking about it for a long time. I’m really glad you’re saying it out loud, from the point of view of somebody who was on the inside.

    It’s fascinating to me that people who speak up about Tim Ballard’s egregious misbehavior are accused of wanting the church to fail and wanting the church to look bad…as if the sexual assault allegations don’t make the church look worse than literally anything else. (Same with the stomach symbolizing cutting your bowels out) --I went through in 1976 and that was how they did it until I think the late 80's or early 90's. --Also staying away from face cards was a "thing" in the late 50's the 60's and 70's (maybe longer) and there were all sorts of "roomers" that the devil was in them and could emanate in your house and even possess you.

      My question is- WHY are there so many delusional Mormons coming out of the woodwork lately? Not just crazy cult leaders- course cult leader JS started the whole thing but spousal killings and murder suicides of whole families. Therapist that think they are going to lead the 144! The mother and her brother who thought her son was the one mighty and strong and kidnapped him to Alaska to wait for Jesus. All these preppers.
      Never mind that fraud is rampant in Utah, porn use anti depressant use. Child abuse coverups. Amassing billions of dollars and not being honest about it! It’s all so profoundly disturbing and disgusting.
